Astralis acquired by Fusion Esports Group
A group led by Astralis co-founder Jakob Lund Kristensen and former Ninjas in Pyjamas COO Jonas Gundersen has secured control of the Danish organization.

Astralis have been acquired by "local investor group" Fusion Esports, ending their months-long search for a new buyer.
The news, first reported by Richard "Richard Lewis" Lewis on September 9, sees the return of Jakob Lund Kristensen to the brand he co-founded in 2016 in partnership with Jonas "calc" Gundersen.

Before stints with RFRSH at both Astralis and BLAST, Kristensen was the founder and CEO of CPH Wolves, the organization that housed future Astralis members Nicolai "device" Reedtz, Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen, Andreas "Xyp9x" Højsleth, and Lukas "gla1ve" Rossander.
calc, meanwhile, was Ninjas in Pyjamas' Chief Operating Officer from 2020 to 2024 after a stint as CCO of North, whose interest was first reported by Dust2.dk on April 26.
Investment into the new Fusion group also came from Sander Janca (Flatpay), Thorbjørn Rønje (Bifrost Studios), Sebastian Seilund (Userflow), and "other notable entrepreneurs" according to Astralis' statement.
"Astralis is one of the biggest brands in esports, with a huge impact on an entire generation of Danish gamers," Kristensen said. "The potential is still enormous, both commercially and competitively. We’re building a new Astralis with fresh energy and new methods, while keeping our focus on performance."

Astralis, in the wake of missing four consecutive Majors, were subject to rumors of financial trouble in April, a sentiment shared in Richard Lewis' reporting which told of "multiple layoffs" and the release of Astralis W and Astralis Talent.
June financial reports confirmed a loss of circa $4.75 million in 2024, and said there were "doubts about the company's ability to continue operations" if investment did not arrive.
Via Fusion, calc, and Kristensen, that investment has now arrived with Astralis all but confirmed to end their Major curse at StarLadder Budapest and results trending upwards under Rasmus "HooXi" Nielsen.
Having benched Martin "stavn" Lund and re-signed Emil "Magisk" Reif on a free transfer at the turn of the month, Astralis will make their debut under their new owners on September 12 against Aurora.
