Liquid earn 90 VRS points and send HEROIC home from FISSURE Playground 2

Twistzz's swansong will include at least one crucial win for Liquid.

Liquid kept their cool in a series plagued by technical pauses to move into the 1-2 pool at FPG2, after they eliminated HEROIC from contention.

"Since map one I had an issue." Guy "NertZ" Iluz said to Pala "Pala" Gilroy Sen post-game. "We changed two or three PCs. In the last map, five rounds in a row, even xfl0ud's 2v1, the game was freezing. It's annoying."

The win jumps Liquid up a whopping seven places to 24th on the VRS, and prevents an embarrassing last-place finish in Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken's final event with the team.

The Belgrade event is do or die for Liquid when it comes to the Budapest Major, being their last opportunity at a tier one LAN before the invite cut off. Even with this win, Liquid sit out of the list with only an outsider's chance at securing a European invite.

Twistzz makes shock FaZe return

Canadian star Twistzz, despite his impending departure, pledged to "get this roster some points before exiting" and he was in good form with a 1.44 rating on map one and 118 ADR in the first half on the decider. NertZ was also in great form despite those technical troubles.

But there was no magical turning point for the rest of the ailing Liquid roster. Roland "ultimate" Tomkowiak was off-color before Mirage, averaging a 0.78 rating on the first two maps, and Kamil "siuhy" Szkaradek's troops were helpless as HEROIC smashed them on Liquid's Dust2 pick.

Clip: NAF whiffs as xfl0ud wraps up 1v2

Racing to a 9-3 lead on Mirage, off of NertZ and Twistzz's work in Middle, left Liquid needing just four T side rounds, but it was not easy to get over the finishing line.

Winning an low-economy round at 7-9, however, broke HEROIC's streak and a late Yasin "xfl0ud" Koç 1v2 was for nought as Liquid closed the series out 2-1.

Toothless without tN1R?

HEROIC were always going to find it tough after the sale of Eetu "sAw" Saha and Álvaro "SunPayus" García, but Andrey "tN1R" Tatarinovich moving to Spirit has put them back into a full rebuild.

Linus "nilo" Bergman has looked sharp in the new constellation but he is the only one. xfl0ud and Alimzhan "Alkaren" Bitimbai sit below 1.05 ratings over nine maps of the new roster, far below the output required for HEROIC to maintain their season one form.

Getting the young roster rolling will be a long-term task for Tobias "TOBIZ" Theo, the type of job he is used to, but, after succeeding against the odds so many times, the latest obstacle for HEROIC to hurdle might be its largest yet.

alkaren still looked good this tournament he wins his fights but yea a 2nd caller wouldnt be bad. but a solid awper is hard to find now aswell idk they need to find better foundamentals tbh cuz rn they make maps competetive but they lose cuz of stupid rounds and easy read plays

Imo Jame deserves better (he speaks eng enough) and degster wouldn't be pricey, his contract lasts until end of the year for 99% so either wait or buy him out for like 50k or less

yea jame has great ideas and pocket strats 4 sure something they could look in for. yah its a pickle hopefully they find something i loved saw sucks that he upgraded but he deserved it ofc. and ive always liked nilo in metiz so want heroic to find their way again sucked that nilo took some absent at his peak doe tnir wouldnt probably have become the wellrounded diamond he is today if he didnt but just boring he is a great player under the right leader. we can only hope they find the recipe for succes :)

Imo Jame has higher ambitions but degster or broky after FaZe would be such a good picks, i'm not fan of nilo but i love xfl0ud and heroic as org overall and wish them success

yea jame 4 sure is a great igl. nilo completed that old metiz with the twins and ztr really good they was insane a period they even made top 25 with jackinho for a period. ofc he can wiff to much at times but his positioning and multikills potential is great. i think this event hes looked better and starting to look more consistent just hvnt had the occasional pop off matches that he had in metiz. i like xfloud aswell hes insane and a aim god and a great pr guy for heroic with 2 introverted swedes but still he throw to much and go for stupid plays to often and like on mirage today he swang 2 times before the flash pop like that cant happen if u want to go deep in tournaments. even when heroic was at their peek with tnir he looked awful against top 10 they read xfloud to many times and caught him to often. his t sides is great the space he take is great for heroic and the entrys are suplime but ct side he need to step up the teamplay and restrict his fighting.

I don't think nilo himself is a bad player, I just think the way he was pushed into the main team was wrong and the team will suffer long term as a result. Even if you ignore the favoritism that nilo got when tn1r got pushed into new roles he wasn't comfortable with to make space for him, they also kicked xfl0ud who was doing well and shouldn't have been kicked over yxngstxr who has been a liability 90% of the time. Then Tn1r got sold and now they're in a situation where they wanted xfl0ud gone but had to bring him back in for VRS and he probably feels like he's gonna get kicked the moment a new possible signing shows up on the market, they also failed the Gr1ks experiment and will probably window shop for awpers if alkaren loan fails to yield satisfying results. I'd expect the vibes to be very bad in the team especially with the roster being handpicked by sAw to fulfill his vision of how a team should play. While Tobiz isn't a bad coach I don't see him making it work long term with this roster and heroic will go down in standings because of all these things combined

u know u can paragraph a text for a easier read. they have now the team they wanted from the start except sunp and saw, they bought nilo and then he needed abcent so they found tnir. ofc it was rude to push out xfloud but still they payed for nilo so obv they gonna let him get a spot when he was ready and now they made bank on tnir sell. so win win + nilo was much more promesing then xfloud before his abcent and tnir was better than xfloud so ofc he was the one that needed to go but still i think the lost of saw is the hardest for heroic lnz is lost whithout him, lnz gotta go if they want to be playoff merchants. but still xfloud need to stop die 20 sec in every ct round look at mirage 4 rounds in a row he swinged mid and gave away a easy enty

No shame in losing to them, but when you take Vitality to OT 3 of 4 maps, I would not expect to lose to G2, 13-8, 13-3. I'll chalk the GL loss up to Ash knowing Siuhy and the twistzz news being a detriment.

Yesterday Liquid was ranked as 31, now they're are at 24 after v0lv0 gifted them +90pts. Now they can undeservedly go to major, while small teams that have being grinding for months and working hard will lose a spot for LULquid. What's the point of this clown VRS system then?

they get more pts because of their low rank. They're matched against higher ranked teams, hence more pts. It's always been like that. What's broken is the fact t2 teams just ground t3 online events and get into Major. Or the fact that many EU countries host local lans just to hand tthemselves free pts right before major. thats whats broken.

oh so you think T2 and T3 shouldn't have the right to grind to achieve one of the few major spots but a trash team like Liquid who spent the whole year attending elite events wasting spot being trash and falling in the rank should be gifted in the last minute bazillions points to suddenly attend the major? 🤔
