Chiliz Group acquires 51% of OG

Xavier Oswald is returning to OG as CEO with the help of blockchain company Chiliz.

Chiliz Group, the blockchain provider for Socios.com, have bought a controlling interest in OG.

The group are based in Malta, and list fan tokens for top sports clubs on Binance. Fans are then able to vote on issues on the platform.

In a press release, the group say the $OG fan token "recently became the first esports Fan Token to surpass a $100 million market capitalization."

OG announce arrozdoce signing

Xavier Oswald, CRO when OG first partnered with Socios in 2019, will take over as Chief Executive Officer as part of the deal. "With Chiliz as our majority partner, we can scale our teams, grow our global community, and unlock a new dimension of engagement," he said.

"We’ve always believed that fans should be at the centre of everything we do, and now we have the tools and the backing to make that vision a reality."

The blockchain group has come under criticism for aspects of its sport partnerships, with fan groups lambasting a partnership with UEFA in 2022, and The Athletic conducting a special report into the company in 2021.

OG's Counter-Strike side are currently 34th in the world, and won CCT S3 EU S4 in one of their first outings with Adam "adamb" Ångström and Rafael "arrozdoce" Wing.

The team still have an outsider's chance to qualify for the Budapest Major and will play next at StarLadder Fall before travelling to Fragadelphia Blocktober.

OG probably has more fans than you'd think. They won the most prestigious Dota 2 tournament TI 2 times in a row (only team to ever do so), earning $37,368,943 prize money (37X of CS division). Though their earnings are heavily inflated due to the prize money offered during those TI iterations ($34m/$25m), their success in D2 cannot be understated. I'm assuming many people have played one or both actively before & this probably translates well to support in either or both games if someone liked the org before. Founders of OG also include n0tail & Ceb who played during those TI wins. Legendary org imo. Also #21

It's kinda interesting how differently this works in different cultures, atleast based on what has been said by some western people in the dota scene who have also played in for example chinese teams. While in the west players take the lion share of the prize money and org takes a smaller cut (like 10-25% iirc), in china and some other such regions the org would take 60%+ of any potential prize money but then again those orgs will basically bankroll your normal every day life by paying for your apartment and food and stuff. Atleast how it used to work.

Hltv users (except Ademar, but especially AdemarCounter) should buy majority of this shitcoin, just to make shit roaster moves and let Ademar suffer.
