Liquid move into Budapest Major invite range with 101 VRS points after eliminating TYLOO

The reigning FISSURE Playground champions are out in the group stage.

Liquid have eliminated TYLOO from FISSURE Playground 2 to move just one series away from earning a playoff berth. The victory also earned Kamil "siuhy" Szkaradek's troops a whopping 101 VRS points, enough for a five-place jump in the Global Standings that has leapfrogged them into invite territory for a Stage 1 spot at the StarLadder Budapest Major on the predicted list.

However, the job isn't finished for siuhy's men, who are playing their final event with Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken before the Canadian departs for FaZe. It is Liquid's last chance to score VRS points at a tier-one LAN before the October 6 ranking cut-off, and teams below them in the rankings still have a handful of events to play where points will be up for grabs.

"Every little win that we have now, we'll take it for sure," siuhy said in a post-match interview on broadcast. "We had a good talk as a team after the second loss here, and we set some rules for ourselves, some good pathways for the future about how we want to approach the next few games, and I think that helped us a lot."

TYLOO head home after a disappointing outing in Serbia, where they failed to repeat their surprise run at the start of the Fall season that culminated in their first big international title. A solitary win over GamerLegion offers little solace surrounded by losses to Aurora, The MongolZ, and Liquid, with the latter loss stinging after TYLOO were given plenty of chances to get their foot in during the series.

"We're in a slump," YuanZhang "Attacker" Sheng admitted in a post-match interview on broadcast, apologizing for his team's performance.

TYLOO punished Liquid with a second-round force-buy to kick off Ancient, and seized control on the defense off of that thanks to exceptional multi-fragging by Qianhao "Moseyuh" Chen. The Chinese team were up 8-4 at halftime and could have run away with the map if not for Twistzz, who completely took over after the swap.

The Canadian stopped three bombsite rushes, one against a full-buy and two against upgraded pistols, grabbing four kills in each round to almost single-handedly haul Liquid to victory. TYLOO managed just two rounds on the attack, one by way of a clutch from Jingxiang "Mercury" Wang, with Twistzz tallying a monstrous 19-6 K-D, 142.8 ADR, +11.12% Round Swing, and 2.32 rating on the CT side to net his team a 13-10 win.

Squandered advantages aplenty came back to bite Liquid on Inferno, where their 3-0 lead evaporated as TYLOO pulled back a 2v3, 2v4, and 1v2 in the first half alone.

Winning the second pistol for another three-round run in the second half offered Liquid little solace as they found themselves at the behest of Moseyuh, who proved immovable in Banana. He decimated Liquid with several triple kills and a flashy quad kill including a spraydown, ending TYLOO's CT effort with a 2.47 rating, 156.1 ADR, and +14.71% Round Swing as they forced a decider.

Guy "NertZ" Iluz and Twistzz were firing on all cylinders at the start of Mirage, but a few sloppy late rounds and further squandered advantages kept TYLOO in contention at halftime.

Close rounds after the swap meant both teams' economies were teetering at the breaking point, and it was Liquid who emerged the victor of that battle. Despite dropping a round to pistols in a 5v3, a triple from Roland "ultimate" Tomkowiak ensured that the game wouldn't slip away, and the Pole added another triple to close things out.

Lan Wins too strong. This is what happens when you have 0 LAN wins and barely then beat 2 teams ranked in the top 20. Auroroa as the 7th ranked team got 47 points for beating Tyloo who is ranked like 11th. UdKnud on Twitter explains why teams like Tyloo/Parivision are worth so many points On the flip side, Iberian Soul/Gentle Mates beat 0 teams in the top 20-25 range, but win a bunch of local regional lans and are in top 25. They have almost as many Lan win points as Vitality and Spirit, who are beating top 5 teams. Just another flaw in the VRS system.

wdym? NaVi was top 5 because they kept getting to playoffs where they bounced out to stronger teams than top 20 rofl then they started losing to everyone and their mother

we're probably referring to the same time period which is somewhere around this time imgur.com/ormOhOr you can see they are #7 in VRS for Dec-Jan but HLTV had them at #3. then while in VRS they were juggling between #7 and #9, HLTV was still having them in top 5. biggest offender is the april ranking, #4 in HLTV #11 in VRS

Vrs ranking was tanking because navi skipped 1 tournament and got leapfrogged because of it, their results warranted top 5 still

I disagree, they were taken out of the major by Heroic, they were losing to most top teams, they usually needed 3 maps to beat lesser teams, they even lost to SAW lol. HLTV ranking is flawed because it holds on to past tournament results for far too long and you can sit at the top for months despite poor performances that are uncharacteristic of a top team. They couldn't even beat Asstralis in Astana ffs

you can only blame tyloo for winning a lot of money making them a valuable team to beat according to VRS

Theoretically makes sense but this is the VRS Gain: +9 after losing to Furia. +90 after beating Heroic. +100 after beating TYLOO.

wait, am i being stupid? i thought they sent out invites based on the ranking in VRS points, but is it based on valve's ranking?

i dont get you? VRS points correlate to your place in valve's ranking. Valve then releases a new invite list every month which TOs use. The valve ranking on HLTV is a live prediction of how the ranking looks like but it has no power in inviting the teams

What i'm confused about is that if you go to the event and look at Liquid they're 29th in VRS rankings (at the time of invites) but you're saying they were 17th? Maybe im missing something.

Ah that's what you mean. Yes at the time they updated attending teams liquid was 29th but in HTLV's live version of the valve ranking. What Fissure and other TOs used is this list for invites github.com/ValveSoftware/counter-strike_..

I think gaining after loss is either point decay of different teams or h2h component. Other than that you can check every VRS component and how much they got in ranking details hltv.org/valve-ranking/teams/details/202..

Tbf VRS doesn’t even account for close losses. Liquid took Vitality, FURIA, and G2 to very, very close games and faltered at the last moment. Still took maps off them, but that doesn’t affect ranking like it used to.

respectfully, we dont want them at the major. Liquid has been ass all year and was winless at Austin. this team cant even beat VP Prodigy and now theyre gonna snipe a spot bc they finally won 2 games? fuck off. leave the spot to a small org that could actually use the sticker money instead of these overpaid bums

I agree with the 2nd part, but their performance before Austin was significantly better than how they're doing now. They might've been winless, but they lost a bo1 to Lynn Vision, then lost to 2 top 5 teams? They kept it close vs MOUZ too

twistzz is the only player i find entertaining on liquid, mainly because he's fun to watch and isn't fake at all. says it how it is. losing him just makes liquid feel more like an EU team to me, and more bland. hopefully they bring in someone who's vocal, or this team is dead in the water, because the other players aren't.

don't find him entertaining, just frustrating to watch at most times. he makes dumb mistakes that he used to make on liquid and especially complexity in the latter stages of his stint there. elige has always just been a very boring player in and out of the server, which is crazy considering i love aggressive players like PR, fl4mus, lake, twistzz, malbs, flameZ, etc. it's just he's always felt very generic despite playing at a very high level. great player. not really easy to like when there's much more entertaining options that play the same roles. i liked him on liquid when stewie and captain america were there. he's become very neutered since then. cheers!
