FURIA squeeze past Astralis to reach FISSURE semis

The Brazilians are through to the top-four stage after a two-map affair at the Belgrade Arena.

FalleN's clutching helped FURIA win a close Nuke game

FURIA have locked up a spot in the semi-finals of FISSURE Playground 2 after a 2-0 victory over Astralis, who put up a strong fight on their pick of Nuke but ultimately fell short of taking the series to a decider as they wasted four map points.

"We prepared a lot," Mareks "YEKINDAR" Gaļinskis said after the match. "We knew they were going to pick Nuke. I studied HooXi a lot, and I knew how to manipulate."

The victory puts FURIA on a collision course with the winner of Falcons vs paiN in the next round. "It feels fucking great," the Latvian said about making it this far. "I don't know what else to say. Both Falcons and paiN are great opponents. Hopefully, we will win."

The series kicked off on Train, where FURIA were able to muster four rounds on the T side despite a quiet half by Danil "molodoy" Golubenko – and the scoreline could have been much closer if not for a monstrous display from Victor "Staehr" Staehr, who had two very impactful multi-kills, including a second-round ace.

molodoy and Kaike "KSCERATO" Cerato pulled off a 2v4 clutch in the ensuing pistol round to keep FURIA's comeback hopes alive. The pair combined for 23 kills in a dominant half from the Brazilian team, who dropped just one round.

FURIA built themselves a 5-1 lead on the CT side of Nuke after winning the second round with a ten-second defuse. It was only then that Astralis' offense came to life, with the half ending with a narrow advantage for the Brazilian side.

After a slow start to their T side, FURIA enjoyed a winning run off the back of a 1v2 clutch from Yuri "yuurih" Santos and hit double-digits with ease. It looked like the map under their control, but then they gifted Astralis a way back into the game as they fumbled a crucial 2v2 on the lower site.

With the momentum in their favor, Astralis reached map point at 12-10, but FURIA fought back in the dying stages of the half to force overtime.

Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo came up clutch for his team in back-to-back rounds as FURIA overcame a 15-13 deficit to force a second overtime, and then the Brazilians went on a flawless 4-0 run to put the game to rest.

Not losing to those teams in an improvement for them tbh, and I want them to fail as much as anyone else. Let's hope someone doesn't lifegame against furia.
