BC.Game get revenge on Alliance for maiden event win with s1mple

The victory earned the team $12,000 and a spot in the ECL Season 50 Europe Finals.

BC.Game secured victory in ESL Challenger League Season 50 Cup 2 by reverse-sweeping Alliance in the grand final, getting revenge after the Swedes had won the first meeting in the event's upper bracket final.

It is the first tournament victory for BC.Game after it brought in Oleksandr "⁠s1mple⁠" Kostyliev and Andreas "⁠aNdu⁠" Maasing at the end of July, and earns them a spot in the ECL Europe Season 50 Finals that will run from November 18-20 with a spot at ESL Pro League Season 23 on offer.

BC.Game beat Sashi, OG, and ESC (twice) en route to the title decider, but couldn't make it a clean run after a one-sided loss to Alliance in the upper bracket.

A change in the veto, with BC.Game leaving Dust2 as the decider and picking Ancient instead, was not fortuitous. Alliance looked set to repeat their win from the upper bracket final as they raced out the victors, 13-8, off the back of four multi-frag rounds by Simon "⁠twist⁠" Eliasson in the first half and entries from Alex "⁠poiii⁠" Nyholm Sundgren after the swap.

BC.Game were on the ropes early on Inferno, down 1-4 on the CT side before s1mple and Nemanja "⁠nexa⁠" Isaković came online. The Ukrainian was everywhere with his AWP and put up a heroic defense of A to pull back a 3v5, and a clutch from aNdu helped his side shut out the rest of the half before he combined with Aleksandar "⁠CacaNito⁠" Kjulukoski to eventually get the map over the line on the T side.

Odds didn't improve for Alliance on Dust2, where they barely scraped two early rounds through clutches and struggled to fend off BC.Game's defaults and executes in gun rounds. The Swedes only managed to double their tally at the break and made the scoreline more manageable with a pistol win, but were outmatched once guns came back up for BC.Game as CacaNito powered his team to victory.

There are two smaller teams in which he might have taken the sniper role but I believe a combination of not enough money and maybe even him not wanting to join might have been the reason. Those two teams are the two Ukrainian teams looking to bust into tier 1: B8 and Passion UA (the latter had Ukrainian players back then, it switched to American recently). I would be a little curious if they would have shown interest in his services and, if so, why it didn't materialize.

I highly doubt s1mple wanted to play with the PassionUA players (cheating accusations by NaVi against those players) B8 could have but headtrick is an essential part of that team and lets be honest, s1mples probably tired of playing with his countrymen. Hes 27, and probably doesnt want to stress himself out with bad performances from his teammates when he could look bad for bad results.

Both projects looked in a downtrend 2month ago, Liquid is still in crisis while G2 made an impressive comeback that frankly not many saw coming. Hunter as IGL was a big question mark but he seems to have nailed it. Malds and heavygod are either overperforming or are at peak perfomance now and MATYS is proving he is T1 material. The only negative i would see for s1 to join G2 is their lack of sacrificial player, eventhough hunter and heavygod could fit those 'roles'. G2 has money, is looking to be a trophy contender. Hell they might be the best place for s1mple to crawl back into title contention.

His buyout from BC is gonna be crazy more than likely, but it’s been reported that he’s on a short contract until (I think it was November?) So it’s likely that we’ll see him picked up by a T1 team at the end of the year I think, either that or BC extend his contract and build a T1 team around him at the end of the year.
