AZR joins FlyQuest as head coach for DraculaN

The Australian former IGL has taken charge of the team ahead of the Romanian LAN.

AZR begins his coaching career with FlyQuest

Former Renegades and 100 Thieves IGL Aaron "⁠AZR⁠" Ward has joined FlyQuest for DraculaN Season 2, the North American organization announced Thursday.

The 32-year-old will replace Erdenetsogt "⁠erkaSt⁠" Gantulga, who was relieved of his duties in August after nearly two years in charge of the squad. In BLAST Open London, it was assistant coach Ricardo "⁠JTR⁠" Júnior who stood behind the team.

This will be the first coaching job for AZR, who has been out of action since March, when TALON dropped their roster and withdrew from the game. New Zealander top prospect Corey "⁠nettik⁠" Browne, who joined FlyQuest in March, was also on that team.

The move notably marks his reunion with Justin "⁠jks⁠" Savage, his teammate of six years on Vox Eminor, Renegades and 100 Thieves. Together, they won StarLadder i-League Invitational Shanghai in 2017, placed top four at the StarLadder Berlin Major and reached the final of IEM Beijing 2019.

AZR is reuniting with jks on FlyQuest

The playoff stage of DraculaN Season 2 will kick off shortly, with 16 teams competing in a double-elimination bracket. The Romanian LAN has a prize pool of approximately $11,000.
