Gentle Mates move past Legacy to qualify for EPL S22 Stage 2

Gentle Mates made the most out of their last-minute invite

Gentle Mates got the better of Legacy in a two-map series (Ancient 13-11, Mirage 13-4) to make it through to the second stage of ESL Pro League S22.

The win keeps their Major dream alive, with the fate now out of their hands due to EPL's Stage 2 not ending until October 9, which means that none of the results will be counted in the October 6 invite cut-off date.

For Legacy, their Stage 2 is not over yet, as they enter a stacked 2-2 pool that notably contains FURIA and G2.

The series began on Ancient, where Gentle Mates took an early lead thanks to a well-oiled offensive half. Bruno "⁠latto⁠" Rebelatto's impact in the second half kept Legacy alive, however, and forced Gentle Mates to come back from 10-11 to win in regulation.

Mirage was an entirely different story, as Gentle Mates dominated from start to finish. The Spanish squad was loud on and off the server, and they only lost two rounds in an otherwise dominant CT half.

Alejandro "⁠alex⁠" Masanet then found the ace in a second-round forcebuy, which proved to be just what Gentle Mates needed to sail into Stage 2.

Isn't EPL next stage starting from october 4, the first day matches won't count towards the Major then fellas?

I dont think so, because that Stage doesnt finish on 6th which is when Valve stop counting the VRS, thats why there all these LANs that end on Sunday 5th

Do you know no one was knowing what is The Mongolz 2 years ago and they made temself up and up slowly in stairs and they are Top 1 team both in hltv and Valve ranking now. Gentle Mates have the same energy and aura. Good job!

I hope so but we already saw KOI and before that Movistar Riders in the big stage! Sausol and Martinez also played in tier 2 for some time, while current Mongolz are still a very young team. M8 would need young blood for something like that to happen (Joey is the one I can think about)
