ESL Pro League Season 22MOUZ sail into EPL playoffs over 3DMAX
Another top-five team has secured a quarter-final berth in Stockholm.
MOUZ are into Pro League playoffs after overcoming 3DMAX.
The team, so long in the elite tier, has struggled to add titles to their Cluj-Napoca triumph from March and Ádám "torzsi" Torzsás admitted the team were "building" towards the Major after a decline in form since making Cologne's grand final.
"We know that this Pro League is a really good tournament to come back to officials because it has a long format and there are a lot of games to be played," the Hungarian explained.
The all-BO3 group stage was a chance to begin that journey and MOUZ did well to score wins over GamerLegion, Gentle Mates, and now 3DMAX — though they were not flawless having lost to Falcons in the 2-0 pool.
A bright spot has been the team's run of form on Inferno, adding a 13-5 win here to a 13-3 versus Falcons and 13-4 against Gentle Mates in Sweden.
Today's win was off the back of a comfortable 9-3 CT side, where MOUZ dominated despite Jimi "Jimpphat" Salo having a -10.6% round swing in the Pit.
Fortunately, Dorian "xertioN" Berman and torzsi were in much better form and ended the map above the 1.70 mark.
MOUZ's pick of Overpass, a new weapon after three weeks of practice, was more back and forth, with 3DMAX leading 8-5 after winning the T pistol only to stumble to a 8-13 defeat.
"It feels good to close a game out convincingly, not something we have usually done," Dennis "sycrone" Nielsen said to Freya "Freya" Spiers post-game.
The Danish coach was also pleased with the team's CT side on Inferno: "A lot of the things we worked on in practice, we managed to do. We played it with a lot of maturity; there's a lot of layers to our game."
