3DMAX eliminate G2 to qualify for EPL playoffs

hunter-'s troops are eliminated after a lackluster showing in Sweden.

3DMAX have defeated G2 in a two-map series (Inferno 13-11, Dust2 13-6) to book their spot in the ESL Pro League S22 playoffs and eliminate Nemanja "huNter-" Kovač's troops from competition.

This is the first Big Event playoff for the French side following Filip "Graviti" Brankovic's switch to the IGL role, with their impressive Stage 2 campaign featuring wins over FaZe, Natus Vincere, and G2.

On the other side of the server, the result continues an up-and-down period of form for G2, who couldn't replicate their BLAST Open London form across the last few tournaments.

While the team made the playoffs at FISSURE Playground 2 and took The MongolZ to the brink in the quarter-final, Eetu "sAw" Saha admitted that the team was far from their best in an interview with HLTV in Belgrade.

That seems to have repeated in Stockholm, too, as they barely squeaked through Stage 1 with a 3-2 record and now suffered elimination in Stage 2 despite beginning the Swiss system with a walkover victory over FaZe.

The French side went for the Inferno pick to start the series and won out in a close 13-11 game. The turning point came from an eco-round victory at the start of the second half, which gave 3DMAX just enough momentum to close out the map despite Mario "malbsMd" Samayoa putting up 107.5 ADR.

G2's pick of Dust2 began well for Álvaro "SunPayus" García and company as they won the first five rounds, but Alexandre "bodyy" Pianaro led an impressive 3DMAX resurgence that got them eleven rounds in a row. The French veteran was joined by Pierre "Ex3rcice" Bulinge in the fragging department late on, and the duo's performance got 3DMAX a comfortable 13-6 win and a spot in the playoffs.

Bro waited every second for this moment. Snax would've gone 0:3 in stage 1...

hunter already has 1/2 of snax trophies as an IGL. Bro won 2 tournaments with Niko and Monesy, hunter already 1 with Sunpayus and HeavyGod. You do the math.

They were dropped after the last major (where G2 crashed and burned thanks to Snax). If they were any good, they would have found a new team by now.

G2 barely made stage 2, so we shouldn't be surprised. I feel like they are worse from event to event. 3DmaX played well, at least this match, i'm happy that they made playoffs, it is nice boost for the team.
