FaZe lock in last EPL playoffs spot over Aurora

After their disastrous start to the tournament, karrigan and company go from 0-2 to 3-2 in true FaZe fashion.

With a last-minute push on the deciding Dust2, FaZe beat Aurora 2-1 to earn the eighth and final spot in the playoffs of ESL Pro League Season 22.

The loss concludes a disappointing campaign from the Turks, who will likely come away feeling like they almost had it after they lost an overtime Overpass decider to FURIA in their first attempt and then led 10-8 on the Dust2 decider against FaZe.

In the end, they only came away with wins against Gentle Mates and a struggling Astralis to finish 9th-11th in Sweden.

FaZe go from 0-2 to 3-2

Meanwhile, FaZe can celebrate after recovering from the dire start to the tournament, which saw them forfeit the opening game against G2 after realizing their new lineup would not be eligible to play.

They flew in Håvard "⁠rain⁠" Nygaard at the last minute and went on to lose 3DMAX in round two, but then made the comeback from the brink of elimination with three consecutive wins, against Astralis, Inner Circle and Aurora.

The deciding game was undoubtedly their biggest test and one that came all the way down to the wire after FaZe got off to a great start on the third map, Dust2.

Aurora managed to recover from a fumbled 1v2 against a Helvijs "⁠broky⁠" Saukants up against the clock, pulling back the half and going on an 8-1 run to take the lead.

But it all went wrong for Aurora when rain pulled FaZe out of trouble with back-to-back rounds, with a solo Five-SeveN double near the Long doors and a subsequent push through smoke under the A bombsite.

FaZe then used the momentum to close the game from there after Aurora ended up on low buys for the final two rounds.
