FaZe eliminated as CAC reaches playoffs

karrigan's troops have been knocked out in Shanghai in the groups.

FaZe have been eliminated from CS Asia Championships 2025 in the group stage following a 2-1 defeat to FUT, who will move on to the quarter-finals.

It's a disappointing end for FaZe, who had travelled to Shanghai with hopes of building on their fourth-placed finish at ESL Pro League 22. With no time to practice between the two tournaments and a player swap — Jakub "jcobbb" Pietruszewski back on the roster in place of Håvard "rain" Nygaard —, the international team consistently looked out of place and out of sorts.

Finn "karrigan" Andersen's troops will now have two weeks to collect their bearings before their next tournament appearance at IEM Chengdu, which kicks off on November 3.

FaZe's elimination came after a long day of Counter-Strike that began with a come-from-behind victory against TYLOO, decorated by a great performance from Helvijs "broky" Saukants, who put in a 1.46 series rating in part thanks to his 2.0-rated performance on Inferno.

The Latvian AWPer then put in the kind of clutch performance that can make him one of the most entertaining players in the scene when he won a 1v4 situation on Mirage just when the series seemed to be heading to a 2-0 conclusion after FUT had come out victorious on Ancient.

That round rallied FaZe to win the map, but it would be for nothing in the end as FUT ran out 13-10 winners on Dust2 with a fantastic T side performance, with Dmytro "dem0n" Myroshnychenko putting in a 2.48 rating and +14.51% round swing in the second half.

In the quarter-final stage, FUT will take on Legacy, who lost to Liquid 2-1 in Group A's upper bracket final.

The other quarter-final match will pit 3DMAX, who staved off elimination against Virtus.pro, against fnatic, who had to settle for second place in Group B after a close loss to HEROIC.

- called in last minute - new system - already benched - rain's opponents = Vitality, Mouz, Spirit, Aurora jcobbb's opponents = FUT, B8, Tyloo - with rain, 0-2 to 3-2 to Semis with jcobbb couldn't make playoffs

Bruh how can you compare a guy who doesnt need to be told anything because he lived in faze for 10 years and knows what to do, supporting changing roles more than you change your underwear with a young gun who is nothing as for help compared to rain and is supposed to just click the fcking heads... needs micro management etc and he still puts worse rating, i cheered for him and i still want to believe he can be the next thing but.... yea my doubts are way severe now

I blame it on China, cmon its his 1st travel with different time zones. All other faze players are used to it, they know what they need to do to get past it but he doesnt.

Ofc i wouldnt bench him after 1 bad tournament.... people are glazing as fck with this donk syndrome that every new player has to explode like he did.... noone has ever done that before and now its almost a standart expectation

Where is the double standard? Rain only has a few hours to find out what happened in the team after he left, Jcobbb at least has 2 days after EPL, and they have 5 days to get familiar with the tactics before EPL.

They should rematch, Faze had more kills but the inexperienced karigan was not able to split them correctly between rounds.

Ahahaha, btw, jcobb has NOT been a good addition to this team since the begginning and not even judging by this match, but plenty of past matches where he couldn't find himself with some rare exceptions where he went positive, but for the most part you can feel that he does not seem to fit the team, maybe still a bit too early to say for sure with all the changes they've had, maybe its worth to give him the benefit of the doubt, but still, not gonna be surprised if he ends up being replaced eventually unless it suddenly clicks, but I reaaaaally doubt it...

What do Karrigan and Neo even do at this point? I'm legitimately curious. They couldn't make a roster work with Elige, one of the hardest-working and biggest nerds in the scene. They struggled against t2/borderline t3 teams nearly every map this tournament. You'd think a team with any sort of structure could coast by ex-Navi Academy on talent alone. It seems like with the removal of Rain after letting Karrigan dictate every roster move before that, the Faze org also signaled to them that they will be next if something doesn't change. What a mess and I'm loving every second of it.
