Tauson: "We talked about having the inner belief back. I feel we lost it a bit during EPL and CAC"

"I think we managed to bring that confidence today that we really needed to have in the other tournaments we played as well," he said. "I'm really happy about that."

With the loss streak snapped, Tauson spoke to HLTV to give his thoughts on his team's recent form and the team's latest signing, Milan "hypex" Polowiec.

You can listen to the full interview here.

You just got your first win here in Bucharest — a clean 2-0 over FlyQuest. What are your initial thoughts and opinions after the game?

I wouldn't call it clean. It was a close game and they really fought for it, but we managed to close it in the end and I'm really happy about that.

Were you expecting it to be that competitive? I did say ‘clean’ considering it was a 2-0, but as you rightfully pointed out, the maps were pretty tight. So, were you expecting this to be such a difficult matchup?

I mean right now we are not in good form I would say, I think we can lose to everyone and I feel like we can also beat many teams. So yeah, I mean, every game can be close and I'm really happy that we managed to get a good start in Bucharest.

Before this matchup, you were on a five-game losing streak, regardless of one of them being a best-of-one, so the last couple of events have not been great. What were the main things that you were focusing on and trying to fix between CAC in China and Bucharest?

We talked a lot about having the inner belief back. I feel like we lost it a bit during ESL Pro League and in China especially. I think we managed to bring that confidence today that we really needed to have in the other tournaments we played as well. But yeah, today we showed it and I'm really happy about that.

Tell us a little bit about your own individual performance, you were playing like crazy today on the server. Do you feel like this is a level of play that you can bring to the table more consistently or was that just one of those special days?

I think after the summer break I've been pretty consistent in my individual level. I think it's showing on the stats as well. I think last season I didn't play the best CS, but I think I’ve really stepped up in the team. And also I got some new roles as well in the summer break and I'm really comfortable in those roles, I'm more like an anchor player now and that suits me way better.

Talk to me a little bit about hypex, obviously the new AWPer of the team. From your perspective, what has changed with him being on the lineup? How do you feel about the cohesion between yourself, him and the entire team?

We're still trying to get him into our system, we haven't been practicing that much. I think it has been going well in practice and I think he's been showing a very high level, especially in practice, and I think he also showed it on Overpass here today. He has a very high A-game, and I think we're going to see some good things from this guy.

Okay, and lastly coming into this tournament — as you pointed out — you've been trying to fix a couple of things between the last events and now. What are you aiming for?

I think we're just taking it one match at a time to be honest. Right now, I think it’d be crazy for us to say that we should make the playoffs because we have been showing really bad results. So I think we just take it one game at a time.

he individually has been their best or second best player post player break as a support player, GL's poor form is not his fault tbh.
