EG confirm tuBBy for WCG qualifier

Evil Geniuses have confirmed to HLTV.org that Travis "tuBBy" Bechtol will be their fifth player for the WCG qualifiers.

The American player, who represented TAU at Arbalet Cup Dallas last month, will also take part in EG's campaign at WCG Pan-America next week in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Bechtol is no stranger to the demands at Evil Geniuses, having played for them last year at the WCG qualifiers and the world finals, where he helped the team reach the Round of 16.

He will once again fill in for captain Tomi "lurppis" Kovanen, who is ineligible to play due to the WCG's nationality restrictions.

Evil Geniuses will attend the WCG qualifier from September 10-12 with:

United States Danny "fRoD" Montaner
United States Tyler "Storm" Wood
United States Jordan "n0thing" Gilbert
United States Ediz "goodfornothing" Basol
United States Travis "tuBBy" Bechtol

Drop goodfornothing...there are like 1000x options that are better than gfn... :S Just don't get EG. GFN just can't cut it internationally.

there's just so much American Talent being wasted domestically because their teams cannot pay for them to bootcamp in Europe. imo COL or Loaded are favorites. Not EG.

coL and Loaded have arguably better talent than EG now, but EG puts the time in to make them better. I really wish they would get rid of gfn though, he's obviously holding them back internationally as everyone has pointed out.

yea i think they need someone like dboorn with international experience instead of gfn. They seem to get 1 map vs top teams then loose the last two maps. They just can´t finish the enemy off. And from what i´ve seen it´s always gfn or storm who are bottom fragging.

Based on your comments, you seem to just download the demos and let them sit. If you actually watch counter-strike, you'd realize how silly and shallow your observations are.

Instead of flaming you could just have made some valid arguments. I´ve seen enough games from EG where they can pick up a map and then loose the next two because they are playing 4vs5. Latest game i can think off was vs navi at arbalet cup dallas.

My original reply was directed towards two things: saying dboorn has more international experience than gfn (which is incorrect), and the fact that you look for who's "bottom-fragging" as a way to judge who played well and who didn't. Every player on that team plays a role and they do so very well. If EG needed to replace someone, they would have.

Right. GFN's role on the team is what? He doesn't entry frag, he doesn't call, he doesn't awp, he isn't a fragger, he can't clutch for shit, he isn't a smart player. He's not bad at all, but when he's not calling he is not a big enough asset to a team to warrant him competing internationally.

I know, that's why i said "it's only one player" because if it had more internacional players the rule would make sense. (To prevent teams that fail to qualify in their home country and go to the neighbour country to try qualify )

I'm sorry I don't get what you're trying to say. WCG is all about nationality. No matter what, your team has to be pure 100% citizens of the country you qualify in. It's like World Cup. Have you ever seen a player who has Brazilian nationality play for South Korea or England? No, right. Basically, if you're a Swedish and you fail to qualify in Sweden, you can't go to another country to qualify for the Grand Final.

no its not like world.. its 0 alike the world cup.. 1st - WORLD CUP = National teams.. 2nd - a player doesnt quit to be from a nationality just because he plays in another country.. so, WCG rules fail all over.. its just non-sense.. if it was NATIONAL TEAMS i would understand, but just teams? with contracts ETC, i dont..

Yeah, I agree WCG isn't national team where you can pick your country best players. What I meant by being similar to World Cup is that the players are all from the same country no matter what teams you're representing.

Completely disagree. The teams background should be chosen by the team, not the players ****CITIZENSHIP****. That way you only get to attend 1 qualifier with whomever is on your squad. World Cup is a silly example, there are Argentina born players on Italy, Africans in Germany, Algerians in France, and ETC ETC. However as long as your main citizenship is to the country your playing for it makes it O.K. However CS players don't get paid millions of dollars to invest in a long time career in cs. Thus leaving your family to play a video game in another country that you could just as easily play from home is asinine. International teams can only mean a good thing, as they unite the cs community together. WCG should really change their ruling imho.

World Cup is a silly example, there are Argentina born players on Italy, Africans in Germany, Algerians in France, and ETC ETC If an Argentinian born in Italy, well then he has the right to represent Italy, even though his race is Argentinian. Once again, in order to represent the country you want to represent, what matter is your citizenship, not your race. That's the point I'm trying to make here. And the thing I'm discussing isn't about 'what WCG rules should be', I'm merely just discussing the rules of WGG itself.

u dont have to be born in italy, and the mojority of those players arent. u simply have to have the said countries citizenship. So if say Germany scouts a great rising Ghana player, they bring him into a little league in Germany until he becomes a citizen. Then that player can choose whether to play for Ghana OR Germany. Same with WCG, but its unrealistic for a cs player to change citizenship just for WCG. thats ridiculous

fans of a team wouldnt tell there own team how to operate, would they ? I understand you think they should remove people, but don't you think EG would have a better idea of there how there team is going and have more of an idea if there team needs changing, seeing as they play together everyday and hang out with each other alot ?

Fans love to speculate because they always want the best outcome for their team so they devise different line ups to create that desired outcome. It's in human nature to explore what cannot be known. Look up any sport and I'm sure there's a forum of fans mixing and matching lineups. Well that may very well be true but their age is starting to show. The core of EG (Storm and fr0d) have been together for a long time...so they have arguably the best chemistry in North American CS but they fail to incorporate newer talent into their team. Professional players in America is a club really...they rarely admit new up and comers and even foreign prospects that are better than themselves. If you look at the teams in ESEA invite, they have the same players that existed in CAL invite too. It's just the same players but different lineups. Newer and more exciting teams such as Loaded have shown they are capable of taking down EG if they had as much financial incentive as the EG players. If some of these organizations had the financial backing, I promise you there would be at least 2-3 American teams in the top 5 like there used to be. Which is why players need to earn their keep thus cuts. It's not personal just business. Just look at the NBA free agency this year, the Miami Heat, needed to make the necessary changes for future success despite the fact the chemistry would obviously not be there.
