Arbalet to end Arbalet Cups?

A statement issued by the organizers of Arbalet Cup reads that in the near future we should not expect any more Arbalet Cups.

For a long time, it has been rather quiet from the organizers of Arbalet Cup, with the last international event taking place in Dallas during July. The latest Arbalet Cup took place in Kazakhstan, seeing only domestic teams attend.

Today the organizers of Arbalet Cup released a statement in Russian, stating that we in near future should not expect any Arbalet Cups to take place. The statement reads that the main purpose for Murat "Arbalet" Zhumashevich to fund these tournaments, which has lasted for two years now, was to strengthen and motive the teams of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). Zhumashevich wanted to show that a team from this region could cope with the best to produce great results and become champions.

Murat "Arbalet" Zhumashevich and family

The success story became Natus Vincere, a team Zhumashevich decided to support. The Ukrainians in short time conquered the world and is for now counted as the best Counter-Strike team of the world. The statement furthermore states that Zhumashevich will continue to support Natus Vincere, till the end of 2011.

The statement also reads that should Valve release a new version of Counter-Strike, then maybe Arbalet Cup will be back, but for now we are told not to expect more. Arbalet Cup bloomed late 2009 and the competitive scene quickly got to know the Kazakh Counter-Strike enthusiast and his tournament series. Has Arbalet pumped out the last stack of Dollars to a Counter-Strike tournament? Things sadly point us in that direction.

The last Arbalet Cup awards handed out?

The last lines of the statement send out a special thanks to all the news sites that helped covering Arbalet Cup, spreading the word around the world.

because they managed tournaments... The more tournaments there are, the more it would motivate players around the world to join. The less tournaments the less active the competitive scene becomes.

don't think so it may be a motivation for the countries Arbalet supported because top teams would come and compete with them but for other "poor" country that can't attend or aren't allowed I don't think it was helpful for them

Besides the sad loss of the Arbalet Cups (there should be at least one big final one with the best teams attending as a way of saying 'Thank You' for this initiative) it will be interesting to see what will happen with Na'Vi after 2011.

Arbalet being their only support, if I am not mistaken, will not make their 2011 that easy having to play to get a good sponsor/organization instead of just focusing on playing/enjoying as for now.

If SK supports them, well probably theyll do just fine, but if it's a weak org they probably will end in bankrupt because top3 teams always have a tight scheduel and want to attend every tournament they can.

the worst thing for them is that best e-sport organizations already have good CS team, so imo it will be hard for them to find something stable and with good salary, they should start looking now

jesus so many retards posting , instead of thanking arbalet for his support all ur doing is showing ur ingratitude ...if arbalet cups never existed esports would still be where it is today ..just slightly behind , but this will not affect esports that much ..CS isnt dead retards , wake up. thankyou Mr. Arbalet however ur fans dont have as much respect for you as they should.

that's really sad, but his financial support to Na'Vi will last for at least one more year, so I'm quite relieved actually :D

But even if they lost arbalet support, im pretty sure they would find new organisation quite fast.

i had a feeling considering there were supposed to be quite a few between dallas and the end of the year and none were announced. Lame by Arbalet, he came up with a whole schedule for arbalet yearly events, and then just doesn't follow through. Oh well, i guess you can't hate him considering he still is supporting Na`Vi and had a few good events. And the fact he built the Kiev Cybersport Arena.

lame? Who are you to talk about how "lame" he is? He spent so much on these events and you still call him "lame", what a jerk you are... realy. Do you even know how such tournament are organized? Not to mention their prize money. If you weren't a regular I would just call you a troll but it's realy sad to see how jelous are the people on the inetz nowadays.

Why should I? I would like to say a big thank to Arbalet... Ain't you saiying I'm yelling or trying to get attention from others, if yes, no thanks, i'm not used to press CAPS to yell, its wayy too nerd for me. Some are saying worst words than me and you mind about it... srsly.. c'mon. edit: I can't edit it anymore.. If you can do it for me then please go ahead..

You should because you can say a big thank to Arbalet without abusing capitals letters. I do not say anything about what you pretend but you do it yourself with your PS. If you see someone saying worse things than you do, please, note that there is a 'Report' button in order to let an admin know about this. I can not edit it for you. The 'Edit' button is available up to 10 minutes after you have published your message. As it is not possible now, please, remember it in the future (both, not to abuse capitals and he use of the 'Edit' button). Thank you.

i dont understand, why did they announce a new format etc then? they've only had like 2 tournaments since then while the statement they gave at the time made it sound like they would make arbalet cup grow even bigger and more organized. something must have happened i guess. would be interesting with a long statement (in english) from Murat or someone else deeply involved WHY they so suddenly stopped hosting tournaments when it seemed they were going in the opposite direction.

Good. He should have never ventured into esports. I'm reading tons of comments saying he is a legend and made history in esports, all true by the way. However a few months ago there was an article on Cadred about sugar daddies in the esports world that use their own money to fund events, and how we don't need them and this is why. He gave so many people hope for the future, he funded tons of great events using his own money, but now what has that all lead up to? His departure from funding events and recognition of CS as a dying game. Those are the last 2 things any CS player wants to hear, and they been said by the games top contributor.

Listen, this guy is a saint and great guy but really he made zero profits. It is almost impossible to fund these tournaments and make any sort of profit due to the lack of sponsor support for CS. I can't believe he actually went as long as he did and looking back he probably could have saved a ton of money but he did do a lot to help eSports in eastern Europe. This just goes to show you how this game keeps dying because its literally not worth it for any individual or company to invest in tournaments/leagues/etc. its a shame but there will never be a MLG for cs.
