$80,000 for CS at IEM5 World C'ship

IEM5 World Championship will finish the fifth season with the event in Hannover, with a total prize purse of $145,000 - $80,000 will be handed out in Counter-Strike.

The IEM5 season finale is less than two weeks from now, where teams from around the world will battle to become the champions of the fifth season. Running from 2-6 March, the event will take place at the CeBIT expo in Hannover, just like the previous four seasons.

This season the total prize purse for the event is $145,000, divided in four games; Counter-Strike, StarCraft II, Quake Live and League of Legends (side event). $80,000 will be handed out in Counter-Strike, which is a reduction of $20,000 compared to the previous season. The biggest cut is the cheque to the champions of IEM5, who will be awarded a $35,000 cheque, which is $15,000 less compared to last year's cheque, which was a total of $50,000 going to the winners Natus Vincere.

no that's better the way it is. What we need is to make the scene live on, so giving away all the money in one team is plain stupid if the others don't even get enough money to attend another international event. And $35.000 is still huge
