Na'Vi victorious at IEM5 WC
Natus Vincere have successfully defeated Frag eXecutors two maps to nil, winning de_train 16-12 and de_dust2 16-10. This is the second year in a row that Na'Vi has won the Intel Extreme Masters World Final, and marks the occasion where their glorious 2010 run begun twelve months ago.
The first map of the Intel Extreme Masters World Final would see the teams’ battle on de_train. Frag eXecutors took the early victory winning the knife round and would start as counter-terrorists. Fx continued their roll and took the pistol and the following save rounds. Na’Vi however was able to strike back and take the first gun round to settle the ship. Fx showed why they are a real contender for this and were able to instantly win the round straight back. The teams exchanged round for round and the score became 8-3 to Fx after eleven rounds. Fx were able to surge ahead thanks to nice rounds by both Filip “Neo” Kubski and Jakub “Kuben” Gurczynski with the AWPs. The half ended 11-4 to Frag eXecutors.
On the second half, Na’Vi would win the pistol and quickly jump out to a 4-0 lead for the half. Much like the first half as terrorists Fx were able to pick a key round, however this would be all they would get. Na’Vi went on a massive streak picking up the next seven rounds with good teamwork and solid defence on the inside bombsite by Danylo “Zeus” Teslenko. Na’Vi was able to take the lead in the twenty-third round for the first time in the match and never looked back. It was just a matter of time before Na’Vi took the first map 16-12.
After the break, both teams resumed for the second map de_dust2. Na'Vi once again were able to snag the pistol round thanks to an impressive 1v2 by Sergey “starix” Ischuk. Fx had just enough money to drop NEO an AK and he was able to take the round for Fx. Both teams struggled to find rhythm and exchanged rounds until eventually Fx were able to pull ahead and take a commanding 9-3 lead. Na’Vi were able to make a comeback and finish the half 9-6.
With what looked like it could be the final half of this years event, Na'Vi were able to clench the pistol and the following save rounds to level up the match at 9-9. The first gun round would see Na'Vi take the round and the lead in the match. From here it was much like the first map, and all one-sided. Na'Vi were able to take the next four rounds thanks to another clutch play by starix. With the timeout called it was 14-9 to Na'Vi. Fx were able to answer the challenge getting one back, however it was all in vein, Na'Vi answered the call and took the match 16-10.
