Paranoids win XLParty Pombal

Paranoids have retained their XLParty title with a 16-14 victory of Defining Stars.

With k1ck out of the way after losing to Defs in the Consolidation final on Saturday, Paranoids were favourite to win their second consecutive XLParty trophy, after winning the last tournament of 2010 in December.

Defs, who had in this tournament their first competition with the new lineup, needed to win two maps after coming from the Lower Bracket, and almost forced the final into the second map, as they suffered a close 16-14 defeat on de_nuke.

This is really good news for Portugal, if there is two or three top teams fighting, they make it each better, because they will try and out-do each other. Assuming of course all three org's have fairly decent backing that can send to events when they win stuff.

all of the three show up good capability an relyability for the scene, and as coachi stated, defs is the one he felt better while he was there, even above k1ck. so i think that at the top the problem doesn't stand in the companies but in the player's commitment to them.

Without taking credit from paranoids or defs, k1ck are still the best Portuguese team and the only one capable of doing serious damage abroad. K1ck are being studied by paranoids (bux,dzt) and defs(aim) since they are top1, it is very difficult to play against good teams with young talents such as roman and mutt that have igl's who know every single k1ck strategy.

Double elimination brackets, paranoids where on the winners bracket, so they only have to win one map in the final.

as #69 stated it was a double-elimination bracket and as paranoids came out top1 at the winner's bracket they only needed to win 1 map to take the trophy. As for defs, they came top1 at the loser's bracket and had to win two consecutive maps to take the title, and as they barely failed to accomplish that paranoids got the title.

k1ck obviously lacked practice, i'm sure they'll take the tourney more seriously when it gives a berth to an international event and win it. all the credit to paranoids though, they are ever improving and played very well.
