fnatic holding tightly onto Delpan

It seems as though Marcus "Delpan" Larsson is far from being released from his contract with the fnatic organization.

Speculations about a forthcoming change in SK Gaming surfaced the same day the German-based organization released Dennis "dennis" Edman, only to call in a temporary substitute.

On May 28, Marcus "Delpan" Larsson entered the limelight, with a report revealing he had been locked in talks with SK Gaming about a possible move from fnatic.

Alexander "TheSlaSH" Müller, SK Gaming's managing director, confirmed through his twitter account the following day that they had discussed possible details for a contract with Larsson.

"Just recently we discussed possible details for a contract with Delpan and found a solution, but if and when remains to be seen!"

The when part came much sooner than what was expected, as they announced they had signed him over on the next day, which meant Larsson was once again donning the SK jersey.

However, fnatic quickly counter-attacked the announcement, taking shots at Müller and SK Gaming as well as proclaiming that they had never been approached about a deal.

Delpan - still contracted to fnatic

As it turns out, Larsson is indeed not released from his contract with fnatic, and Müller told HLTV.org that they were willing to purchase him out of his contract with them.

In contracts between players and organizations, there is usually a clause that handles what will happen in the event of the contract being breached by either party.

Should, for instance, a player breach a contract, there will be a penalty fine that has to be paid to the organization. This is usually what organizations use as a base when it comes to negotiating.

Contacted by HLTV.org, Müller confirmed that SK Gaming have offered fnatic to buy Larsson out of his contract, but their offer is nowhere close to meet their demands.

"We offered fnatic the buy out but it seems our offer does not meet their demands. Marcus already played for SK but still we want a solution for all parties involved. Though I have to say that positions are quite far apart from each other. We might end up with fnatic having to accept Marcus leaving and keeping a penalty just as we had to do in 2010 when Rasmus [Gux] left. It is not the perfect scenario, but it is a solution after all."

As Müller stated, it seems as though SK Gaming and fnatic have their differences - which is not the first time - about transfering a player from one side to the other.

Meanwhile, fnatic made a statement on how they have "attempted to negotiate a suitable fee and reach a mutually agreeable position".

In addition, they have highlighted the demand fnatic have asked for a transfer of Larsson, without disclosing the actual figure, but justified it with the following points:

- 8 months left on the existing contract
- Investment already made in the team and player concerned by FnaticMSI
- Value of the player to our team as one of best AWPers in CS at present
- Potential loss of winnings
- Disruption of existing squad
- Value to other (SK-Gaming) team

Interestingly, the statement continued by saying communication and negotiations between the two sides have broken down, and it appears they will leave it at that.

Furthermore, fnatic are requesting the Swedish WCG organization and DreamHack to prohibit SK Gaming from using any player contracted to fnatic during the two upcoming tournaments.

"We would highly recommend that the Swedish World Cyber Games' organization and DreamHack help us ensure that no FnaticMSI contracted player will be fielded for SK Gaming during the coming DreamHack Summer."

How SK Gaming will respond to fnatic's stance remains to be seen, but one thing is for certain: fnatic are not releasing their grip on Larsson for now.

Kinda agree but I reallyreally don't get why one player would move directly to rivalry team. If it would happen in football then the player might hang up his boots. Not only organization is doing a bit wrong decisions ( SK ) but also Delpan is doing something strange. I'm just Supporting fnatic what ever happens in this proccess. Fnatic did so good finding a bit underdogs and made them stars. SK are just buying players, just like playing HLTV.org's dreamteam game with some kind of cashbonus.

so take contact with Delpan and make him sign the contract before fnatic even know anything is right of SK? SK should just say that they are willing to buy delpan since he has contract, its not like sk didnt know this. the org is the worst ever.

Of course they are wrong. They allowed a player that contracted with another org to play with their own tag, come on.. don't call urself a professional org if u do that. But you have a point though, if you want to blame.. blame for Delpan, looks like he doesn't PRO enough to have any respect towards "contract"

They can't do it alone, they want to help of tournaments to make this case one we can look back at in the future. SK should not be able to use Delpan without paying for him and I think it is totally fine if the tournaments help fnatic with that. I agree that there is a possibility of fnatic wanting too much money for him, but we don't really know about that.

and if fnatic is right in this story, sk should be "hurt". If you an E-sports to be professional, there must be consequences for "breaking" the rules. In this case a contract
2011-06-08 17:17

Just like fucking Football you buy players to let them play for your team but sometimes they have a contract till 2014 so you need to pay. The player can talk with the organisation but the 2 orgas need to talk also, if they dont reach a deal on the amount of money the deal is broken and the player wont play for his new team . Just open facts no money no player and no valid new contract so the help they need so delpan cant play is the 1 of the tournaments its not fucking right to sign twice a contract and above all let Delpan sign if hes still contracted with fnatic negociate first, pay, and then let him sign thats the way to go nothing more nothing less. so tumbs up to fnatic to claim their player by try to let him out of the tourneys that sk try to play with Delpan .

so smart... firstly Im almost sure there is written in his contract that all behaviour making his team's loss at tournament etc will face a fine. Also fnatic can put Delpan as their 6th player for that 8 months until contract expire and wont let him play for any team. He would sit out for 8 months!

thats smarter! lets pay marcus for him to be seatted in a chair doing absolutely nothing just to prove a point! sure, thats one way to go. another way to go, would be setting a fee with SK and releasing him out of his contracted, thus receiving some € and being able to build a new team, with no "death weights" i was obviously joking about the part were fnatic taking would take delpan to any event!

I'm not refering to them buying him out but should the negociations fail, I guess Delpan will just leave and have to pay the penalty fine. About Gux, I was refering to what happened when he left SK to go back to fnatic last year. According to SK he did have a contract, so the situations would be the same here but reversed, with fnatic purchasing a player contracted by SK

Too bad that we never really saw that contract and SK didn't really cared much. If he really had a contract, SK would have gone to fnatic's headquarters, shown the contract, forced them to pay that "breaking contract" fee and then let him go. And SK has alot of players who left the organization without payed salaries/prizes and even without a contract.

Muller said he had shown Gux' contract earlier, don't know where but apparently he did exist. And from the interview I guess this is what happened, fnatic paid the fine to SK and that's all, SK didn't try to prevent Gux from playing if I remember well

rofl,if SK did have a contract ,they will not let fnatic go easy back they, what they said was a lie, nothing can prove that. It's like a baby crier.SK is not going to pay that penalty fine because the reason why they are trying to get delpan:1 he is one the best awper in the world,sk need a awper to get better lineup,2,revenge the gux case and try to hurt Fnatic the same time.Surely they didnt realize how serious fnatic is about this contract, now SK cant do anything. ps:if gux did sign that contract,SK will surely bring Fnatic down for that, but SK did do anything other than lying in their own web telling that they have a contract with gux,ROFL,only losers do that to keep their pride.

It's not the same situation. Gux might not be under a contract, but if he was, they didn't paid him salaries and prizemoney from tournaments. And Delpan is receiving salaries and he is surely under a contract.

How unprofessional is pro esports? If you are in a contract in the real world, you are with it until either A. Someone buys it or B. It runs out. Delpan should play with fnatic, and shut the fuck up until his contract with fnatic is done. Esports can't advance with this immaturity. If you are not willing to play out the amount of time that you signed for, then don't sign it. Delpan should be greatful to fnatic that they picked him up in the first place, when SK didn't want him. fnatic needs to make new contracts that don't allow players to play with any teams AT ALL. Untill the contract is either done or terminated.

So Delpan would be in fnatic's roster and still sit on the sidelines and spectate? Fnatic is really smart, having Gux and Manne ready as replacements.

Good move from fnatic. You should ask why? Let's think about it. You're owner of professional organisation(fnatic) and suddenly guy from another 'pro' team said: XXX player is almost us. Somebody talk with you? No... My player from my team want to leave organisation? Sure... but consulting without me? News after news, what I'm thinking about the whole situation? It's some f***ing joke. fnatic is showing us that you can't mess around with them. If Delpan will leave fnatic without any word from owners that it will look like "yeah we can do with them whatever we want, nice" and who will be pro? SK because they stealed guy without asking. Sorry for my bad english. I'm waiting for yours guesses.

AHAHAHA. I don't remember seeing Gux's contract ;) And if he really had a contract, how come SK didn't even cared that much like fnatic is doing now? And they can't just let it go. They payed him his salary and a share of the prizes they won, and he breached a contract. SK must pay that fee if they want delpan, or they will brake another "rule".

In both cases with Gux and Delpan it is a player who should be blamed. BUT! Gux didn't sign a contract, though he had a paper. But he didn't which means that fnatic had full rights to contact him first without contacting to SK. Still, I'm not sure whether it is true, because SK say absolutely different. In case of Delpan fnatic had a contract and SK should have talked to fnatic first not Delpan. Marcus made a mistake when he signed it, because he still was connected to fnatic. fnatic are doing it according to the law. So, everything comes down to one thing whether SK want to buy his contract or not

Don't go there, please! fnatic were EXTREMELY lucky at the IEM EU. They were a new team and no one knew how they played. Also, Xizt was on fire! Had it not been for him, they would've lost in the bracket stage, or maybe even sooner. You saw what happened once people learned how they played. They lost to almost all top teams! Now they are exactly like the fnatic from the old days. Almost at the top, but not at the very top, and they never will be with this line-up(let's be realistic). I'm not saying they should change the team or anything, I don't give a fuck! Just saying how it is!

What is with everyone going on about "why don't fnatic just let Delpan go, he won't play well with them now"... seriously? fnatic are happy to let Delpan go, but under agreed terms. Not just breaking the damn contracts. They most likely won't MAKE him play with them, infact I wouldn't want the dirty little traitor to play with them.

As they should. You can't just expect you can change team when ever you feel like it, assuming you have signed a contract. And about the situation with Gux, it's laughable that SK's side is now claiming they had signed contract at their possession, yet when the incident happened that metusalem guy said he never got the contract back from Gux signed. Btw, is anyone starting to feel f0rest is one big douche bag?

All of you are freaking retarded kids. When a contract is made there are some clauses that can brake a it , just like in football. If SK wants to buy Delpan they need to pay the breaking fee and the player is free. But in Delpan's fnatic contract there are some other clauses. Sk may need to pay back fnatic all salaries received by Delpan from fnatic. That's the hole fucking point , SK can sign Delpan in a freaking minute , but they would need to pay the breaking fee of the contract and a penalty , a penalty wich somehow is bigger that the sum fnatic is asking for Delpan. Fnatic has no power on the player's contract because the contract was made on a person's name not organization. It's not fnatic's contract , it's Delpan's one. If Delpan wants to leave he agrees to break the contract , Sk pays the breaking fee and the penalty received by Delpan for breaking the contract. So this is a fnatic problem now. Some of you are talking absolute shit , and you're just assuming what is right and it's wrong. Keep in mind that both organizations want to make it out clean from this story , and each of them are telling a different story just because that. SK approach to Delpan was completely right and fair. And they did announced fnatic but fnatic didn't agred to SK. All that fnatic is saying is that SK should have contacted them first , not the player. So leave it fucking dead and just wait to see. Both organizations did wrong : SK talked to the player first and fnatic are moaning like kids for money and are afraid of SK's team. There are bigger people involved , not just TheSlasH and fnatic's announcers . They are paid to do something , SK's men were paid to sign Delpan and fnatic's to get money from the signing. Please stop because u're starting useless and meaningless conversations. C'ya , get some brain.

oh man! first of all, fnatic are not moaning they are asking for a breaking fee. It is absolutely logical thing to do. SK don't want to pay(or they don't have enough money) it is their problem. Why would you give a player for nothing. You signed a contract with him, you paid salaries and now he wants to leave the team without following the rule of the contract. If you are not following rules of the contract, why then you signed it. By the way saying is fnatic are afraid of SK is ,what you said, brainlesss

It means that they afraid SK like I'm afraid of dogs :D fnatic and SK haven't played BO3 yet, so there is no need to be afraid of them though they won them 2 times in BO1 I'm just trying to say that don't call people brainless when you are writing things that make you look brainless(which I'm sure is not true, since he wrote everything correctly)

"SK approach to Delpan was completely right and fair. And they did announced fnatic but fnatic didn't agred to SK" fnatic has said that SK didn't contact them, but I guess you just know for a fact that they are lying? Also, you say that SK was wrong in talking to Delpan first - how can that be the case if their approach to Delpan (according to you) was right and fair...?

If they come to a mutual agreement they don't have to. Otherwise organisations should be bound by the same rules that apply to players about breaching the contracts.

Simply, Delpan in Fnatic till SK pays money. Ofc, Delpan won't play for Fnatic, he will be 6th player ;) or 666th o.o' Btw, if SK doesn't pay money, they shouldnt be allowed to use Delpan in tours etc. P.s. Beware

Well fnatic are just trying to punish SK for taking Delpan away from them. It's probably sure that the team will not play with him after he went with SK behind their back and in my opinion all this drama now is just a waste of time and a useless fight between the two.

LOL everyone's talking like SK took Delpan away from fnatic like, wtf? Delpan DOESNT WANT to be in fnatic, thats the bottom line. Its just obvious the interest of SK like they needed an awper, the very best wants to be in SK, so why wouldnt they want the move to happen? The way they did it tho wasnt the best obviously, and a agreement should be reached by both sides. Reading things like "Delpan should continue in fnatic till his contract his over" is just stupid since he doesnt want to play there

con·tract [n., adj., and usually for v. 15–17, 21, 22 kon-trakt; otherwise v. kuhn-trakt] Show IPA –noun 1. an agreement between two or more parties for the doing or not doing of something specified. 2. an agreement enforceable by law. 3. the written form of such an agreement. "It is clear that Marcus had (has) a desire and intention to leave FnaticMSI and this is acknowledged, however this does not give either the player or competitor the right just to ignore a valid contract." "Since both parties agree that there is a contract, if Marcus represents SK-Gaming in any official matches, before a public announcement of a purchase or a settlement, then SK-Gaming are in effect saying to the eSport community that contracts are meaningless." A contract has its own purpose.

Delpan is the one contracted by fnatic, if he doesnt want to be there, if hes unsatisfied, he has the right to leave. Im not saying SK did what they should - cause they didnt act well. Im just saying this all could be perfectly less dramatic by both sides

It's sad that CS players whine all the time on how they want to be professionals and when they get the means to be such (actual contracts, salary, place to train at with good conditions) they totally botch it and behave like spoiled kids. You signed the contract, you deal with it.

shit just got real hmm i think we could very well witness eSport's first law suit over a player :> fnatic taking sk to court for some nice money would actually benefit esports ...the media will eat this up and esport will actually look more like a real sport where teams(clubs) are always at eachothers throats either way this ends, the publicity for esport as whole will be huge , althow one of the 2 organizations will probably take it up the ass :D i can already see the headlines on real news channels reporting on how 2 esport teams are suing eachother over GAMER, this is gonna spark alot of interest for esport and for CS 1.6 :)

yes but sk are the ones that will pay for it , since Delpan is in violation of an official contract fnatic could even take this to court and sue sk for damaging their squad and ilegally signing a player that already belonged to another team. fnatic are in right here, we all know Delpan will never play for fnatic again , but a contract is a contract and he broke it .

rofl fnatic YOU SUCK not SK! Will you keep a player that has already played matches for the other team? Will YOUR team play with him? NO THEY WON'T! SK offered a buyout but fnatic think they're selling fabregas to barcelona or something? This is CS! And fnatic are trying to make SK look bad which obviously fooled a lot of you fools, but they're the bad guys here for trying to get from SK what they don't have and know they won't EVER get and trying to prevent their member of the "oh so nice and awesome fnatic family" to play the game he loves with 4 guys he wants to play all because they're childish and don't want SK to have delpan... Delpan could surely just say he's going AFK and then play with SK in a week, but NO because they made the right move and tried to buy him off fnatic are trying to be their all-time LOW when dealing with this.. Once again what is the point of doing this? Fnatic team surely won't play with delpan again and he probably won't play for them even if he has a contract because he doesn't want to and has a new team that he wants to play in that offered FNATIC money for him.. All you fools saying SK is the bad guy here read this twice and reconsider, im not some SK fanboy but this is so obvious...

Can see your point and I agree that fnatic should release him. But they have a contract and if you are not following the contract why in the hell you signed it? Delpan is not following the contract while fnatic are and were(paid him his salary and prize money). They still have the contract according to which Delpan will play for fnatic another 8 months. If you want to break this contract you have to pay compensation for termination of the contract. It is absolutely logical and rational to do so because they are doing it with accordance to rules. If SK don't want to pay money it is their problem and why should fnatic release him for nothing? Don't call people fool because you make yourself look foolish

What the hell? Stop blame each other! That's how it is working mates..SK did something behind fnatic's back with their ppl who had got paid from fnatic to play for them. Delphan just said, " I do not want to play in fnatic anymore,SK give me a paper for signature". Delphan just f-ck up and SK with him as well..
