fnx retires from Counter-Strike

Former MiBR and g3nerationX ace Lincoln "fnx" Lau has announced he has decided to retire from Counter-Strike.

The Brazilian player's decision to retire comes less than two months after he joined up with GamerHouse, following a quarrel which saw him abandon his former team, compLexity.

In an interview conducted by teamplay.com.br, the former Made in Brazil star states he has chosen to lay Counter-Strike aside in order to focus on his personal life.

In 2006, Lau helped Made in Brazil to victory at the Electronic Sports World Cup, and helped the team achieve fourth place in the same tournament the following year.

fnx retires from Counter-Strike

After being removed from the team in 2007, Lau signed with g3x and assisted them in winning the nation's World Cyber Games qualifier, defeating his former team-mates.

In more recent history, 2010, Lau and the ex-FireGamers squad donned the colors of compLexity, and managed a 5-6th placing at the Intel Extreme Masters 5 World Championship.

Although he has stopped playing competitively, Lau has revealed that he will launch a Counter-Strike academy together with two renowned Brazilian players to pass on their knowledge.

His retirement leaves GamerHouse with:

Yeah I understand what you mean. Since CS is a team game the players must be in harmony. He probably got tired looking for 4 other members that were as dedicated as him. But still, I don't think he should give up. Maybe he'll come back in the future who knows.

We don't know what their arguments were therefore we have no right to judge him. Delpan's departure was almost the same reason as fnx btw and both parties gave different reasons. I'm not taking sides here but just to remind you that there are always two sides to every story.

Yes, there are always two sides to every story, but what he did to col.br has no excuses, he left the team because he was mad for some reason (probably childish reason, it was not the first time he suddenly left his teammates) and he knew that if he left col.br, complexitiy would release ALL his old teammates. There´s no explanation for such asshole´s behavior. About delpan, as far as I know he just left fnatic because he had a better offer or because he want to play with gtr, forest & cia.

We don't know who's wrong in story with coL.br, in a interview with teamplay.com.br, fnx said that his best partner in-game was Bruno "bit" Fukuda, who had been kicked of coL.br recently, so we don't know everything, sorry for my english, but fnx was and is a king here in brazil...

To be honest you didn't understand what i meant. actually i'm not talking about dedication, i'm taling about money. When he played for MIBR he had a salary, he could travel abroad, prize money, whatever... Nowadays he doesn`t got half of this! There is no big organization, there are just big players that are getting old and playing for low prize (they usually play one championship /week to get like USD 200). Unfortunately the "brazilian CS" died when Paulo Velloso (MIBR owner) stopped investing on his team :( then we had a last chance with coL but as you know it was a bit fail! We don't need great players, we need great organizations since we all know that is impossible to compete with the top teams just training here in brazil and playing a few events per year!

Seems that you're the one confused. You need dedication in order to keep going forward in life. How will you find what you're searching for if you quickly give up? Regardless of the condition, you simply should not give up. If you give in to despair quickly then you'll never find out. Don't forget that the Polish team used to have this problem as well (finding a good organization) before they landed with a stable organization which is now known as Frag eXecutors.

Seems obvious that you don't really know how things works here. First of all he didn't give up quickly, he played this game since 2002 or less and since mibr closed its doors he (plus any other great player) didn't enjoy any great organization until coL come into view. These last years you just saw brazilians teams in events that pay the costs and it happens once a year. We are almost in july and we don't have any information about WCG or ESWC yet, moreover some people get tired of the game and make up their mind to stop playing. Now about the FX... they live in europe so it's too much easy to find a good organization there than in brazil, there are a lot of them over there. For a team that lives in EU it's pretty cheaper to travel thru the countries in order to play an event and they don't even need to travel to practice against good teams since they've got a good internet, obviously it doesn't happens here. Why fnx couldn't have changed his goal? Sooner or later everyone will stop playing. He is 21 (I guess) and just ended up the high school :\ and backing up your first post you said "If he wasn't doing well in CS then I would understand why he would retire" actually he was very smart becouse once he said "The team I'm playing will always be the best" so he decided to stop on top and make money with his academy :)

Well in mibr times one of craziest aimers in the world, compared to players like neo, forest etc. Brazil cs is dying, because now they dont have any team that can compete on top lvl. Complexity was good but not that good as mibr was some years ago with cogu, bruno, kikoo, nak, fnx, bit.

Will not change a single thing, as he's no longer a part of the old coL/FG lineup. That line was the only brazilian one that could do some damage in the top tier. They were so good, I really liked them... Such a shame though

the old lineup with fallen, nak, bit, bruno1 and fnx was probably the team with most potential. I was really impressed by them, and I really hoped they could become top5 in the world some day with the help from compLexity, but we all know what happened.. It's a waste of really skilled players tbh.

many many players, but everything important lans happens in europe, mostly. and the vital top level practise you get online in europe. you know its very expensive in anyone situation to go to big lan, but especially from over the sea :( Its amazing brasil cs is even alive if u ask me.

+1 Brazilian cs is kind of stucked, we are almost in july and still haven't got a big tournament around here. Teamplay(Brasil's biggest esports site) tried to bring some life to our scene with a big online tournament, it was a good try, but there are so many idiots in here, they kept fucking up the servers, so the tournament couldn't be finished. Also, people say that we're dying because of lack of sponsors, true. But if the players want to be paid as professionals, they should act as so. Almost every team in Brasil change their lu every month! No way we can get to the top, what we have the potential to achieve, before the players and the community grow up a bit. Sorry, got carried away! Haha! :D
