Season six of the IEM will take us back to New York, as the ESL today announced the third Global Challenge. In season five, the American Championship Finals took place at the Comic Con exhibition and this season IEM returns to the The Big Apple to host the third Global Challenge of the season.

The Global Challenge will run October 13-16 and will hand out a total of $40,000 in the Counter-Strike tournament and just like the Guangzhou event, eight teams will compete and the top two finishers will qualify for the World Championship

IEM6 Global Challenge New York prize distribution

1. $16.000
2. $8,000
3. $4,500
4. $3,100
5-6. $2,200
5-6. $2,200
7-8. $2,000
7-8. $2,000

The American Champion (best ranked US team in the qualifier) will receive a slot, while another two North American teams will qualify via the qualifier. One slot is up for grabs in South America, 3 for Europe and 1 for Asia.

Stay tuned for the announcement of the first qualifiers, as well as more info about the remaining Global Challenges.

Won't exist a match agaisnt 5th and 6th i believe, you can't call both a 5th or 6th because they never faced each other (on theory).

Well I applaud you for liking the NFL (in doing so you understand more about the US than 90% of europe). Roger Goddell just said the other day that he thought that London would be getting a team in the next 10 years, which would be awesome to have a Euro NFL team. But the G-Men... Seriously!!!?? Your team opens the preseason against my team (the Panthers) in 8 days! Best of luck buddy!

hltv.org/?pageid=216&eventid=603&groupin.. Arbalet Dallas (America) - 7 european teams had participated on it. So why they can't participate in this tourney too? The big organizations like SK, fnatic, mouz, mTw, Na`Vi can send their team to GC NY for sure..

Just to put things in to perspective, Arbalet Cup Dallas had a $80,000 prize purse. Also keep in mind teams have to qualify for the NY event, they can't just go if they want to.
