ESL TV with CS:GO show tonight

Following this weekend's announcement of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, ESL TV will tonight air a 45 minutes show, with Joe Miller and Bastian Veiser giving us insight and thoughts on the new game.

Two of the invited guests to the Valve office in Seattle were ESL TV commentator Joe Miller and the German ESL Pro Series product manager Bastian Veiser. The duo will tonight present a show on ESL TV, 100% dedicated to thoughts and insight as to what they saw and experience this past weekend.

The show will begin at 19:00 and will last for approximately 45 minutes. You can watch the show by hitting play below or head over to ESL TV.

for 1.6 lovers the best thing to happen is valve to support cs pro mod and use the portal 2 source engine to update its graphics a little bit and write some parts of the code and strip everything that has to do with source's gameplay( i'm not talking about the graphics) its the only game that is closer to 1.6 . CS GO wont replace nor 1.6 neither source its just another game like cz so dont compare it to 1.6 and css its a different game..based on counter-strike type of play.

first of all the engine that was used for portal2 is a new engine :) updated basically it doesnt have to do anything with css. also something you might not know cry engine 3 bf engine are way too laggy except for the ones that have a computer equal to mine or higher!!!if you want to play with 30-50 fps ok you're right and i'm wrong. With the source engine you can way good quality graphics(not to complex with physiX etc ) and still hit the magic number 100fps

first of all i stated V1 do you know what V1 means? and no the new source engine for css was also updated same as tf2(the source engine had like 8 or more major updates). and i didnt even throw the cry engine in here. you did that. the focus on engines the like cry one was based to look good with good physics. there was none aspect to get into e-sports. if you want to build a good e-sports game you should more focus on gameplay and stuff. and the source engine has been proved to be not the best. my point is that you should begin with a completly new engine. you cant just update the same old engine. especially if we are talking about 1.6 as i said cspromod was a fail(source engine).

both wez and wilzoo played 1.6 at a professional level, as did torbull(sp? the guy from 3D), so I'm sure they provided some thoughts from a 1.6 perspective. Also, as mentioned by people who have been testing it, they have made some features, such as flashbangs, like it is in 1.6.

valve isnt going to allow pre-beta footage of this game to be shown publically this early. and especially not to the 1.6 community. I doubt we will see anything other than a trailer from valve leading up to the initial beta expected in October.

Seems like this won't be a follower to cs 1.6 nor cs:s, it's a whole new game. It's like a COD-oriented cs with the new nades and all, which is nothing like either of the current counter-strikes. Seems like this will be popular amongst the young public players, that's it. Promod already failed also to do what it promised, it became way too much like source. Is it really that hard to make a game with a gameplay similar to cs 1.6's and with graphics that meet today's standards?

I guess that's one of the reasons why people dropped 1.6. Hackers are never good for any game, and a lack of a decent anti-cheat makes its worse. Hopefully they will have an anti-cheat with regular updates to keep the hackers away from the game (at least the bigger part of them).

Looks like game producer and developers have no fucking clue about crucial things in 1.6. I bet none of them seen a pro teams match. I do realize they live in US and watching a match on HLTV that is being played in Europe can be impossible, but there are hltv demos. Looks like they didn't even bother to analyze such a match. How ignorant could they be? Joe said that they don't even get a fuck for hltv support. And why do they complicate things for themselves trying to add a new "cool" stuff which will only spoil/break the game. Why are they reinventing the wheel? There are games, which rules are not to be changed, like chess, football, voleyball, basketball and Counter-Strike. Dear producer and developers, please save yourself a time and money to your company. Just make a new 1.6 with better graphics and ragdoll physics. Just add a few more things but not to the gameplay itself, rather to all whats around this - like Joe Miller said - "multi-view function for hltv". Done. 99% of 1.6 owners will run to the shop to get their new counter-strike. And I can't name a one reason why "new" people (new to counter-strike) wouldn't want it.

Joe is 100% right, it's been too long. Counter-Strike 1.6 is slipping away. StarCraft 2 has already eclipsed Counter-Strike 1.6 in e-sports. We need CS:GO as much as Source does.

If we want Counter-Strike to even exist as an e-sport in the future then yes, we do need CS:GO. Sponsors don't want to support a 10 year old game anymore, are people buying i7's for CS1.6? of course they aren't. Just take a look at the rapid decline of tournaments this year and you'll see that we actually DO need CS:GO as a community.

all I hear is complaining, they obviously didn't fly out everyone just to have them give advice and not take it, its a playable game with features the creators thought might work. You have to remember they are not top players of 1.6 or source so they put things in the game for pubbers which would be the new grenades. They will take most of the advice of all the players that showed up to Seattle or whats the point,why even fly them out to test the game at in its Alpha stage. I think it is an smart move for them to ask the top competitive players what they think the game lacks and what it needs instead of releasing a new COD game without any input...

Someone posted on ESEA and had logs of someone from CS:GO saying they are having some 1.6 testers come out soon and that ss's would be out sometime next week. Not sure if fake tho.

To get cs 1.6 idea of skill and team play is only about watching 2 lan (bo3) matches, and 3 frag movies. ;x And after 11 years I think they still don't have any idea what 1.6 version is. It looks like it just their first stupid mistake but somehow it became f.awesome! But FIRSTLY how the fuck these guys can say that hltv is not important at all. That thing tells us that they are retarded or totally don't give a shit about things that make this game beautiful ;o

Yep, we realized that ... but It's valve, their are the producers of cs 1.6 they should know what is most important and first on the list. HLTV, Money system, spotting players(skins) in right moment and recoil. Instead of this they again bring us only graphics and few knew weapons ;o

why are you all being nerds? you cant play the same game over and over for decades. at least they are listening to the community and implementing ideas from both communities to create, hopefully, a game that can replace cs 1.6 and css. no one can deny that cs 1.6 is slowly dying and cs 1.6 players dont want to play css, so this should be a good substitute.
