CSPromod 1.08 released

The CSPromod developing team have announced that Beta 1.08 is available for download.

After the successful feedback from 1.07, the CSPromod team didn't lose any time and started to work on 1.08, solving the high choke and the crashes were two of the main concerns in this update.

Weapons behaviour was once again modified, spray pattern was improved and the rate of fire was tweaked to match exactly like 1.6, furthermore, the flash grenades now affect all players equally.

The developing team leaves a warning to all the players for a bug related with Steam which might drain some in-game performance.

"Since the last steam update the game library tab takes around 25% (sometimes more) CPU usage resulting in in-game choppiness. Make sure you CLOSE the steam window after launching CSPromod or use a desktop shortcut!"

If you're eager to try the latest version, don't forget to check if your PC meets the requirements, the downloadable executable can be found here and don't forget to leave your feedback on the CSPromod forums after you've played it.

Id love it to never die, but even pros know that cs has 1-2 years of life because it has no sponsors, just periferical companies like steelseries..etc so im sorry, cs 1.6 is dying but because it has bad graphics and there is no sponsors for it. Only CSP or CSS can keep the cs soul alive.

ive been hearing that since i joined the cs scene 5 years ago. Every big tournament in the world has counter strike. CS will last for many many years believe me. There are sponsors. Look at the new brazilian team that came up last week. A 50 year businessman invested on CS. Look at the ESEA tourney that happened this week. 10.000 dollars 1st prize. And there are no sponsors? I'd bet CSS would die first than CS

Nope, cs promod is actually more like 1.6 contrary of what we've seen from the CS:GO releases. guess we'll just have to wait and see for the final editions until we decide what's going to be the replacement for the best FPS gamer ever made... :-)

If you are installing through the exe then give the path to your steam folder, else if from a zip then extract the cspromod folder to your steamapps/SourceMods/ directory. You will need to restart steam so that it shows up in your library in either case.

its nice but they still have stuff to fix, the spray is wierd you can stand 2 meter from some on ingame with AK and shoot a whole mag and barley hit some one. and if people move around the hitbox is wrong. And I dont know its the servers but I always have a delay like if I shoot a guy in the head it takes half an sec for it register the Headshoot and he dies. But if the fix so all the recoil and bullet dispersion is like in 1.6 tweak some sounds fix the hitbox then this Mod is golden.

Oki, u should post these bugs on their official forums. I guess it will be helpful for the future releases. The point here is, the game is till a beta and under testing. So your voice will surely be listened. Just report your thoughts. I am pretty sure CSP team will listen to u and they are doing a wonderful job. Lets appreciate their hard work! :)

if you want a 1:1 copy of 1.6 you'll have to play 1.6 the problem is that everybody flames before comparing. some guys were complaining that the muzzleflashes of enemy's weapons are too small, but they're even bigger as in 1.6. same goes for movement, it's nearly perfect. other guys are complaining that the deagle is way too random compared to 1.6, but it's the other way round. the csp deagle is less random than the 1.6 one. csp could be a 1:1 copy gameplaywise and people would still flame "omg tis game is teh shit, its not onedotsix" we all know that the models and the animations could be better, but in terms of gameplay it's nearly a copy of 1.6

This option forces your rate to 100+k = 1Mbps. Which is the maximum value for Source Engine 2007. If you don't allow this your rate in CSPromod will behave in the same way as in the other Valve's games = not constant.

CZ was plain stupid, CS:S has always been just horrible in every way, CS:GO sounds like it's going to be Call of Counter-Strike: Modern Offensive with a bunch of stupid gimmicks to please the 12-year old xbox kiddies and ProMod was terrible when they first rushed it out of the gates. Much better than 1.07. If source would have been from the beginning as CSP 1.08, then 1.6 would have had much harder to survive. I like especially the revised netcode. This was important just like the balance of the flashes. I take my hat off to you!

When I was playing back in 2003, there was a 1.5 to 1.6 transition process. All players were like "1.6 is shit, 1.5 forever" but now we can say that 1.5 is dead for real. Not immediately but all "CS 1.5 forever" guys switched to 1.6. The same will happen with 1.6 to CSP transition. BTW will there ever be a csp_dust and csp_cbble?

Noob. CS was created by fans and then later bought by Valve. pc.mmgn.com/Articles/The-History-of-Coun.. Counter-Strike had its humble beginnings in 1999 when Minh "Gooseman" Le and Jess "Cliffe" Cliffe released a beta mod for the popular Half-Life. What started as a side project while in college turned into the beginnings of an internet phenomenon as growing interest from fans, and Valve themselves soon saw both creators working on the mod full-time under Valve's supervision. Soon enough Valve bought the rights to the franchise and employed both Le and Cliffe full-time, and released Counter-Strike 1.0 in 2000 alongside Half-Life: Opposing Force. Several versions of the game were released over the next couple of years until development ceased with the release of the ever popular CS 1.6 in 2003, which coincided with the release of Valve's Steam service. Since then several updates have been made to the game, however no specific version numbers were released.

Another greate example of a sucessful "mod" turnig into a standard alone game is dota. So it dosen't really matter if csp is a mod or not, because if it succeds then im pretty sure that valve will pick them up

Not possible because the engine is on HL1. And hence the graphics will always be like HL1 which isnt good.

I still don't like it too much. Though I do not want to take away any credit for the hard work the CSP team has put into it, there are some things that are just too bothering me. The skins are just plain horrible. I am sure this is one of the hardest thing to perfect but they are so bad right now The animations are not good either. When you shoot someone, the skin just moves weirdly. They should keep it even more simple as in and make the skin just take the bullet without dancing around etc. The nades are so HUGE ! The size of the nades' skins are enormous. Am I the only one feeling the same thing ? Maybe i'm crazy.. For me, the good thing, is that I am only talking about visual stuff, graphics, skins and animations. I feel the game itself is quite playable but needs to freshen up in terms of skins and definitely animation. Keep up the good work ;) I'll wait for the next beta though.

The ratio of the nades has changed - they are not 1.6 watermelons anymore. They are simply scaled up to match the 1.6's size.

in cs:s on my shitty laptop i got 60-80 fps and this is on source maps with tons of garbage the same on my server in csp but when i tried to play on net it`s was lagging as hell fps changing from 20 to 60 in half of second i even can't turn around. if someone got same trouble help me please :(

CSS runs at a newer Valve's engine. Which has not been made accessible to public (CSP) yet. It has a multi-core rendering option which gives you very solid fps boost.

Well suck me sideways, this game is actually pretty decent. A few things though: - Trying to tell where enemies are based on sounds is not nearly precise enough. - The models are just terrible - While Deagle was always mainly about luck, now it's just ridiculous. I can't even count the amount of times some 8-digit picked my head off from a long distance with a deagle, in a way that just doesn't happen in 1.6. Make it more precise but less powerful or remove it altogether. - Silenced M4 is overpowered. Seems to do way too much damage and is way too accurate - Spraying seems a bit easier than in 1.6 - The performance is terrible. My 3,8 Ghz i7/6GB 1600Mhz DDR3/HD 5870 comp chugged here and there, and in smokes FPS went down to 50-60. The game also froze for a brief moment every so often. A few times in the middle of a firefight. - Ruswalking is overpowered. Remove it altogether, it never had a place in the game to begin with. Will edit in more as I think of 'em. Overall, it seems ok. Some more fixing and it might really be the game they've been hyping for a long time now.

Join a server. Point your crosshair at something. Shoot seven times. How many of the bullets went to the center of the crosshair? I tested once, the average is like 2 out of 7. That means -- assuming you're aiming at the head of your enemy -- that you have just under 33% chance of hitting, even if you're aiming at their head straight on. Don't start with me on this subject, scrub. Or any other matter related to CS.

About performance aspect! I have WIN7 32bits running on a C2D 3,2ghz 2GB of 800mhz memory and an 4870HD, compared to your cfg it's nothing but the game runs fine,never noticed any freeze

Great game. Cant wait for 1.09 and i would like them to see talk to the pro players both from 1.6 and source. 2.6 is the "harder" game, i will give 1.6 that, but people need to realise that 1.6 is not gonna last forever. At sometime there needs to be something new and when promod goes out from beta, i think we will have a new game. A source player talking :D

its a solid one, i hate the jumps if u have good movement/bunnyhopper something like that in cs 1.6, u cant do the same thing in this version, the sound is awfull, the recoil sucks little bit and the skins are terrible.

Look at the scene. Dota 2: 1 million dollars for 1 team. Now, Think with me... How many time do you believe cs will be able to compete with those games for? Huh? Not too long I guess... Giving dota as an example is not a correct point of view. The reason why Valve hosted that tournament was because there is a huge competition between dota, LoL and Hon, with this tournament Valve is just trying to get the LoL/Hon players to play dota. When/If Valves releases CS2 I really doubt they will be doing the same, as CS has no competition with other FPS games. As far CS competing with games like Dota 2, should I remind you that Dota is an Action RTS while CS is an FPS, Dota can only substitute LoL or any other game from its genre. For example, when Starcraft 2 came out, the game exploded (e-Sports wise) and CS is still in the tournaments with his prize money and it wasn't affected by SC2. CS can only be substituted by CS:S (highly unlikely), CSP or CS:GO.

MyMy point was, people are not sponsoring cs anymore. Not about the game, but about the sponsors issue... If we got CS2, I'm sure it would also be getting good sponsors, and I think it would be even great. The money stays the same... But for how long? How long will those guis be wanting to host our beloved CS1.6? Its not just a game for me. The feelings it brings me, I feel in no other game. Its amazing. The prizes would be better if we did get sponsors in there. And HoN, in my opinion, is a big fail due to its community. Just saying. Valve will surely not be doing the same for CS2. But I think they would be doing something special. We can't let this game behind...

It freezes, nothing happens. I usually hit alt+ctrl+del when it happens and Windows says there was no response from this application and it crashes. No idea why though. I've got the SDK 2k7, Team Fortress 2 and promod.

Have you launched TF2 at least one time? This is a common problem to people who do not own CS:S,the first time you play CSP it will take a long time to load. TF2 will not substitute CS:S 100%, most of the times the bugs people report is because they are using TF2 when they really should have CS:S. If it stays the same you should either wait for someone related with the project to answer you here or you can try your luck at the CSP forums cspromod.com/community/forums/14-Technic..
