EG advance to ESEA S9 final

Evil Geniuses has just defeated UMX.us and will now move into the final of the ESEA S9 Finals, which is currently being held in Dallas, Texas.

Day two started off with EG having a narrow victory over Full Gaming, and UMX.us moving past Backfire which set up the Upper-bracket final.

On de_dust2, UMX.us got off to a great start and took some very important rounds as CT. However late in the half, EG were able to rally back and take a slight 8:7 lead going into the half. The second half showed that EG were more comfortable on CT side and easily closed out the match 16:11.

The second map would be de_inferno, where once again starting as CT UMX.us got off to the dream start with a 9:1 lead after ten rounds. But just as we saw on de_dust2, EG managed to get a sniff of momentum and pick up a few late rounds to be down 11:4 at the break. EG took a gamble on their CT pistol, and when that failed it looked like we would see a third map. However some individual performances by all players managed a miraculous comeback which saw the map go into Over-time.

In the over-time, EG used their wealth of experience in clutch matches to take the four rounds needed and walk into the ESEA S9 final with a 19:16 victory.

After the two closely fought out maps, the statistics for the Upper-bracket final ended up showing that Derek "dboorN" Boorn has really stepped up to the plate for EG, and for UMX.us Bryan "buskey" Buskey led the charge for his team.

Null element

For UMX.us, they will now face Full Gaming who defeated Backfire earlier today. The winner of this match tomorrow will face EG in the final. EG will hold a best-of-three advantage as they progressed from the upper-bracket, meaning if any other team wants to win, they will need to beat EG in two consecutive best-of-three's tomorrow. While EG will only need to win one.

im actually thinking about that, and its not the worst idea in the world lol. fallen speaks pretty good english too (lightbulb). but in all seriousness, if EG were to ever acquire a new awper, i would put sgares on the list, but with a little hesitation. he was the clear cut best awper of the day, by a landslide. he's always been good, but his consistency and confidence today was something else. the only reservation i have about him, which im sure other top teams would agree with, is that he's more of a star ringer with good teamwork than a reliably meshable fifth for a steady lineup. he's on a new team every season, whether its his choice to start fresh, or his previous team dies. because of this, i personally think he's more into the glory of competing in CS rather than being the best in the country or even world at it. teams need players that are in it for the long haul, and are willing to sacrifice endless hours to improve team chemistry and to grow as a unit. i don't think someone who hops around as much as he does is willing to settle on a team and put potentially years of effort into that team, which is a shame. just my opinion though. i think a top-form hero is endlessly more valuable to EG than any other player that i can possibly think of, so i think they made a great choice in picking him for the new lineup. i just want him to miss less :p

hero's still a little rusty. his teamwork and mid round decisions are all spot on, as theyve always been, but he's flat out missing too many shots. he's gonna have to get to where he was before he went on hiatus before they go to NY, regardless of how the rest of ESEA goes.

how isn't it a good indication ? some people missed the match, and always ask "who got the frags in the match" The stats show that. If you don't want to read it fine, scroll down, but don't assume everyone agrees with you.

guy plays b. other team ecos toward b 3 times. guy gets 10 completely meaningless frags shit like this on the front page implies that whoever gets the most frags contributed the most to the team. if you believe that you've never truly played competitive cs before anyway, thanks for ur response (even though it was wrong). anyone who doesnt agree with this is a complete and utter joke. im not even trolling or flirting with a ban on purpose. this is something worth arguing for you are in the wrong.

well for starters, they are not "10 meaningless" frags, if nobody gets those 10 frags, they will lose those rounds. They probably arn't as important, but they arn't meaningless. Secondly, it's not just Kill/Death ratio, it's rating, so why don't you read over that, and you will see a little more than Kill/Death ratio is included. And finally, i'll go out on a limb and assume you watch some sport, so take Basketball for example, Do you think fast break points or screen'd open shots are less important than tough double team defence baskets? Guess what, they are all counted as "points" What about the guy who provided the screen, there isn't a stat for that is there. In sport there is never a definitive way to accurately record everyone's contribution, yet every sport I know has stats, how often do you see "Avg Points per Game" or "RBI's this season", or "Passes complete". The only thing you were remotely right about was that you cant always understand 100% of the game from reading 10 lines of stats. Well in case you noticed, this site is predominantly European who weren't up at 4:00am to watch that match. So providing some "stats" on the game, is something we do for our users to understand who got he frags. It might not be 100% accurate on who 'did the best' but it's pretty close, and it's better than nothing.

LOL clueless response. i guess ill type a little bit here so i wont get accused of saying rofl and leaving though i guarantee you ill do that next time. this discussion is a complete and total waste of time you just said PPG and RBI are accurate judges of a players ability to win in basketball and baseball, respectively. ROFL. you probably think catcher's era is the best way to define a catcher and that gold gloves truly measure a player's defensive ability. your probably also the same guy that really values player of the week and player of the month awards... lol... the one thing you said that is right is this: "In sport there is never a definitive way to accurately record everyone's contribution" then don't post them as if they are important. almost all sports stats, with a few exceptions, are as useless as posting everyone's frag totals after a cs match and trying to determine who was valuable and who wasnt. yes, espn and all other sports websites paste every stat imaginable onto their webspace but only because they are trying to appeal to a retarded audience who knows very little about the game and has probably never played it before. that, and there are like hundreds of games a week and it becomes more difficult to sit down and analyze every game. they are forced to try to explain the game using incredibly flawed stats that generally mean very little in the context of an actual game news flash: cs isnt like that, and you should realize it and act accordingly. you are actually in a position to dictate the way people think about CS and what is important about it. and what are u doing? completely shitting on that responsibility entirely by citing the fact that other sports website use stats that are similarly pointless and moronic if people didnt watch the match and you want to inform them about it, watch it yourself and tell us who you think did the best job and why. dont post 10 lines of stats and believe that that is a good barometer of who did well and who didnt (if you honestly dont think u did that here, just read your own lines of text that u used to discuss the graph). and if ur too lazy to watch the match yourself then dont post anything and let them find it out themselves by reading what people who actually watched the match have to say anyway, ur posts have pretty much convinced me your not worth talking to (since it seems you dont know very much about CS, sports, or life in general) so this is my last response just remember, you and hltv are in a position to tell people how to think about cs. maybe you should think about that a little harder before posting this retarded drivel peace edit: fucking typos man and if this post gets me banned or if its deleted then lmao

well luckily for gomez, all of the stats for this match are perfect indicators of who made the biggest impacts ingame. dboorN single handedly tied all of EG's W's together, and made critical round deciding frags consistently all day. pauLy also came up big in a lot of the matches, as did n0thing. if you were a viewer who missed the matches, and used the above stats as indicators of who to spectate for each map, you would not be disappointed, so please stop typing.

and you sifting through my posts to look for something to poke fun at shows that you are a nerd, but who am i to judge? i may be a fanboy, but i left any bias out of the post that you responded to. you might want to register the fact that i'm right about the stats, and not look for irrelevant information to prove a senseless point that only reflects your ignorant internet angst. if you want to rant about how stats are silly, you probably shouldn't pick an article where theyre actually accurate and perfectly represent how the matches went.

That is not his point at all though, the fact that stats CAN be a good indicator isn't a very great argument when they can also be pretty bad ones. If HLTV.org only provided stats when they happened to be perfect indicators you would have a point, but we both know that probably isn't the case. I don't think it corrupts people very much though, but I do see his point.

They are meaningless in the sense that they don't tell us anything. If a guy happens to hold B on inferno and they rush that site every time they have an eco he has a good chance of getting better stats than the guys holding A. Frags in CS aren't equally important and often it can be a lot better to not go for a kill. Stats don't show us any of that. I don't think his attitude is the best though, but I think it is pretty obvious that he knows something about CS.

So much for your last post. You're making a fool over yourself for always trying to get in the last word. Also you clearly are just looking to pick a fight, because if you bothered to read Gomez's reply you two actually agree on everything. Continue trying to prove that you are the alpha boy online though - asserting your dominance in internet boy culture is of the utmost importance. You are right, they are wrong. You own them.

You are the retard here, actually your behavior can better be described as facist... STATS are a part of the game, any game, any sport! If you think some kid insulting everyone and saying they're retarded will change that think again! Sorry to say this, I met many nice americans, but you're the stupidest people in general FACT. I'll give you a football example. Barcelona the best football team in recent years had 85% possesion against Osasuna. WHat does that tell us, if we didn't watch the game? That Osasuna barely had the ball and thus didn't have a lot of chances to even get it past the middle and try to score. Barca won 8-0 yet they had 14 or more goal scoring opportunities which is another proof of their complete dominance. How is that useless??? Not everyone has the time/will to watch every game so stats and reports are best ways to know what happened. If you disagree with that you are the retarded one here... which is obviously the case
