CS:GO open beta in early 2012

Valve has announced that the open beta for CS:GO will start in the New Year.

The Counter-Strike: Global Offensive developers stated their satisfaction via their official twitter with the stress test, which included 10,000 key holders from around the world that were lucky enough to be the first ones to try out the game.

Although the stress test wasn't a real success from an outsider's point of view for some as the testing-players peak was relatively low for the amount of keys that were given out, the developers seem happy with the amount of interest and feedback from everyone in the testing community, from players to websites.

The beta going open in 2012 means more feedback, and of course HLTV.org is looking forward to covering the game's development, so stay tuned.

CS:GO will not be game that will get much cash etc.. it has been said that the game doesn't feel right and it's impossible to controil recoil as there is none. So no point. Add cs 1.6 recoil and gl ;)

Actually COD>> CS in Graphics, Sales , Number of players and everything CS is not even close to COD in graphics or sales. But.,,, CS - The feel of game is no where close to any other game. The Raw Crude Recoil and the daddy of all games just like Age Of Empires and thats the only reason we all stick on! My recipe for sucess in CS's next step: -Improve cs1.6 to require a quad core even if it takes making a new game engine. -Dont change too much: same maps, spawns, weapons, skins and most important RECOIL, HITBOXES and ENEMY MOVEMENT. -Stop making silly games and say they will get better. Testing a crappy game only causes nausia to an 1.6 lover. -Release only when player movement, recoil and hitboxes are very very similar to 1.6. Without this 3 combined its impossible to inspire the community. -Getting a progamer like HeatoN or SpawN and following their opinions will put you in the right direction with ease! Hey Valve can even contract me, Ill do it cheaper :P There you will have sucess. Not just sucess but instant sucess. CS:GO blows, sorry. And sorry for bad english :x

It's funny how people look blind. CS:GO is the future, does not matter if you like it or not, CS 1.6 is dying slowly. Organizations are closing their CS 1.6 division. Valve is working to make it as best as possible. 2011 is probably CS 1.6's last years, CS:GO will dominate in 2012, companies, organizations will start to look better at it. I also think that is ridicolous people say "CS:GO is a shit, CS 1.6 4ever" when they didnt play it yet. How a people can be so stupid? Open your eyes and face the truth. Don't you guys still get it? Everybody still loves cs 1.6 but it's time for a change, the game is about 8 years old and it's literally dying, the companies that support competitions like ESWC/WCG/DH/ESL etc. will stop doing that because cs 1.6 lost it's appeal to the public, and we'll have and ESWC for example featuring only games that the public desires and we'll end up playing cs 1.6 on an insignificant level, so what would you prefer, playing a dead game with absolutely nothing new to it and that's got so boring over the years or playing a new game that will revolutionize the whole concept of cs and that everybody's dying to get their hands on? The companies aren't interestend in what the players think or want because they just want to SELL(selling involves investment, usually by advertising), so why would they still invest in games that don't attract the public anymore?(low public figures mean that their advertising is in vain). The guys at Valve thought it's the time to freshen up the cs scene so atm i think that they did quite good, in theory cs:go will merge the two cs communities (cs 1.6 and cs:s) and the competition will be fierce at the large tournaments, everybody will start from scratch with this new game that has both old and new things added but it's not cs 1.6 nor cs:s. Looking at the current level in cs 1.6 it's almost imposible to win a prestigious LAN event starting as an underdog, for example; woulnd't you prefer to to have a change in winning 250k $ than to play a game that can't reward you with anything? Rumours are beeing spread that in 2012 cs 1.6 is not going to be played anymore on most of the big tournaments so instead of beeing stubborn and narrow minded by denying a game that you haven't even tried yet why don't you embrace the idea and start thinking of what can you do to be the best when the game is up and running? what would you prefer, playing a good impressiv game with old graphics? or playing a shitty random game with high rez graphics? Do you think competitive CS community can accept that? Look are pros reactions from the closed beta => "it looks like source, and we dont like source" imo your are right, valve just want to sell CS:GO, and do another "CS:GO-1.5" in 3 years just to sell more copies, and again and again... just like COD. 4 Profits! They just don't want to recreate a game that could be played during 10 years... cause its less profitable. That's why they try not to reproduce 1.6

It's because cs 1.6 is a gonner, remember the good old days when you couldn't join the HLTV because it was full and by full i mean > 30k spectators, well that was then, now 15-20k specs is just insane. People tend to look from a different angle when the game has cool graphics, interesting guns etc., but unfortunately those things don't matter so much to the gamer, who is just satisfied with the original cs 1.6. Ofc Valve want to sell the game, economy is based on PROFITS, if you don't have profits you're out of business. They can't add anything new to cs 1.6 because it's too old, no1 will be able to come up with something to freshen up this game so they just said "ok, replace cs 1.6 with cs:go" and i can bet you that companies will be delighted to support a new game with cool graphics that people stand in endless lines to see. Like i said earlier in my first post, stop beeing norrow minded and at least try the game before posting. Btw, i played cs 1.6 since it appeard and i still play it, but i got my hands on a cs:go key and i tried it,imo it's not so bad as some people think. :)

First of all you are not considering streams that werent around before(actually eswc finals had 50k spectators ofcourse hltv and all streams combined),economy is not what bothers 1.6 gamers its the quality of the game and general disregard for by all accounts still the best competative game around,and btw if 1.6 is boring for you dont make it a general statement because those 50k people are disagreeing with you.I agree that 1.6 is dying but it should be replaced by game thats as good or better,and nobody can say that cs:go is that.Thats the thing 1.6 spoiled us any lesser game will not be taken seriosly especially consolised version of source:D

Well cs:go is not an improved cs:s as some might think, just the grafics are similar, the mistake of the most "haters" of cs:go atm is that they are comparing the two games which are realy different in gameplay and a lot of stuff, for example the recoil of the guns like ak/m4 is something new and completly different, you can't spray 15-30bullets in the same area like you do in cs 1.6 or cs:s. The game is a little to close to the real thing, the smoke grenade covers everything and you can't see anything through it, flashbangs are similar to cs:s, the decoy grenade is a decoy, it produces the sound of the weapon you have(pistol/sniper/m4/ak w/e), moving when having a sniper rifle zoomed moves the zoom around making it harder to shoot accurate and tons of other things. Remember, this is still beta so until the game is launched be sure that the developers will tweek things, add or remove some, because that's what beta is about, colaborating with the gamers in developing the game. I see some people think that liking this game doesn't make you a cs 1.6 player, oh SNAP... that's a realy retarded statement tbh.

I would like to have a key now to test it, but what i see in the stream and on vid'n'pics it is very diferent. It is a beta, and it will be needed to be worked better, i hope that they can reach a mid term to please all the cs versions (1.6 & Source) but it will be a almost impossible way because one of the cs communities will be most affected (i hope not). Anyway i agree that it is not always on graphics, because a good game without a good graphics engine will be selling more that a good graphic game but with a playability mediocre. Swat 3 it is a prove of that :D

I don't understand why people are saying there is no recoil because there's extreme recoil. CS:GO is mixing gameplay elements from CS:S and 1.6 to create a new and unique entry into the Counter-Strike legacy. They have been bringing in pros to test the game and are saying that they will make changes that are favored by the community. Valve/HPE are working their hardest to create the next 1.6 and I can't wait to get my hands on it

I played it today. There is defnately recoil for the pessimists and trolls that haven't even played it yet. It's a bit different then 1.6 though. However, I think its possible for competitive play eventually. My issue was the movement felt off (not as fluid). However, I was also playing with 60 fps so maybe that was it.

You just have to remember what happened to CS:CZ when it was released mainly for consoles. It looked more fancier and had basicly the same game mechanics as CS 1.5 and 1.6. Even then it flopped pretty badly. And back then CS was the main thing what came to shooting games. Homever, those times are long gone now and COD/BF-juniors are running wild. Maybe the idea of terrorist/counter-terrorists is kind of old-fashioned. Ten years ago the terrorists were all over the news and people thought that CS had a cool idea which seemed to blend well to reality. To be honest, I think CS overall is going down as a game which dominated the early era of FPS-shooters. And now we are just reaching the beginning of that ending. CS:GO's selling figures will be two times less than what the newest CoD managed to get only in its presale.

First of all I would like to say that I havent played cs:go, and I hated cs:s and love 1.6. counterstrikego.com/videos/ These videos (the show matches), show that skill is needed over luck!!! It shows that even pro players find it hard to control the recoil of the rifles.... yes the auto snipers need nerfing. But these video states "CS:S was made for noobs, so people who just started playing can compete against people who have played the game for years.... cs:go is build with competition in mind, someone who just starts playing will get thrashed by the more experienced players, however with the matchmaking system they will not get a chance to play each other." Source was made purley to generate money for the company, this version is not for that purpose. This game will be patched aswell comtinually updating it at the begging until a desirable product is reach to satisfy the "1.6 COMMUNITY"!!!! I honestly think the community here, us 1.6 players should try the game, get involved with competition. I think that we need to move on and we will find ourselves back in 2003 when cs was the best game, community and competition in the world. Thoughts???

Its funny how CS players actually are saying that CS is the biggest competitive game. When League of legends and SC2 absolutely shits all over it. CS need a Redo for it to become popular and valve realises this. Stop playing all holy and accept the change. And Starcraft 2 is much more interesting to watch than 1.6, it involves a lot more mindtricks, strategy and creative thinking than CS. If you dont like CS:GO simply dont play it, and sit in a corner not accepting change and keep playing 1.6 :)
