ESC, SK advance in CS:GO challenge

The entire Sound Blaster CS:GO Challenge will be played on de_dust2 in single elimination best-of-one mode, starting with each CS 1.6 team taking on a CS:S team in the opening round of quarter finals.

SK Gaming on the way to victory over Copenhagen Wolves in the first round

SK Gaming on the way to victory over Copenhagen Wolves in the first round

ESC opened up against Blight Gaming's CS:S team and went up 9-6 despite of a lost pistol round as terrorists. Second half proved to be little different as the Poles scored a 7-4 win, 16-10 overall.

Timm "ArcadioN" Henriksen's Xapso faced mousesports' CS:S team but offered little resistance to the British team who cruised to a 13-2 half time lead as terrorists. Henriksen's crew had no more answer after switching sides and lost 2-16.

The other Danish CS 1.6 team in the tournament, Anexis, took on Brazilian CS:S team TargetDown. They didn't fare much better than their fellow countrymen however, as they fell behind 4-11 in the first half as terrorists and went on to lose 4-16.

In the final quarter final, SK Gaming took on Copenhagen Wolves' CS:S team. The Swedes started off strong going up 5-1, but ran into trouble then only scoring two more rounds as terrorists. After switching sides their luck seemed to turn as well, as they went on to win 9-2, 16-10 overall.

The semi-finals will begin shortly at 21:30 with SK Gaming facing mousesports CS:S while ESC Gaming will take on TargetDown CS:S. Only the SK Gaming versus mousesports match will be shown on stream, which you can view here.

"Of course they don't end there, the game is based on Source. There are similarities to 1.6 aswell though." Just because the game is on the updated Source engine (which is more updated than the one CS:S currently resides on) does not mean it is in any way similar to Source.

wanna bet source players are more used to movement/flashing/sound/seeing when the dude is fucking dead, seriously i played source a little/promod a little more and there is a different feeling. point being cs:go is a lot more like source then 1.6, you're a source noob to think something else:D

I play 1.6 quite a bit, and have played a competitive level. "You are the only one thinking like this".... no not really, I'm the only one being incredibly vocal, because 1) I enjoy watching some of you come up with some of the STUPIDEST arguments, and 2) I just love how some of you are incredibly sad enough to think 1.6 is godlike and can never be replaced. Look around.... it's being dropped left right and centre, wake up and smell the roses. It will eventually lose IEM, and other big tournaments, and then you will be left to become like Source. The problem is some of you don't realise that if you don't help with giving feedback for CS:GO and help change the game now, then you are effectively snubbing a game/franchise you "apparently love".

i know all that we did not argue about that. it's going straight to source's destiny, in the closet, but CS:go in my opinion is more like CSS even if GTR says it's not. We have movement, no SR=CSS, no hs animation, flashes really go over the walls even if you throw them high as in 1.6 has a limit, again a css similarity, map=css, and would find more if i cared probably. lets just hope they make it even better i really hope for 1 united cs scene.

I just have this feeling you do not know what you are going on about. "No HS animation"... for instance is not even a high priority at present, that can be added later to the game, just like it has in Source (yes we have HS Animation). Flashes again, is a low priority of the game at present as it's in beta and can be looked at and tweaked at, at a later stage. Some of the things you have picked out are low priority changes and should be changed when the game feels a lot better than it is.

This 500 pound retard sauce nab needs another IP ban for 20 years from hltv.org. Then he can go back to his home cadred.org and cry in the pants of his daddy Richard Lewis. CS:GO is built on source engine. CS:S on source engine 1.6 built on Goldsrc Graphically CS:GO close to Source. 1.6 is 1.6 Flashes,Smokes in CS:GO like SOurce 1.6 they are compeltely different. Movement: CS:GO has similar movements like 1.6 and CSS Shooting: Completely kinda new Out of the above 5 points, 3 points favor CSS players rest 2 are neutral for both CSS and 1.6 SO how hard it is for you to understand that CSGO isnt much much closer to CSS than to CS1.6 ? Sauce players have much much more advantage than 1.6ers in CS:GO. Period.

Graphically.. yes. Movement... no Flashes... closer to 1.6 and smokes are closer to Source. Shooting... all new. Recoil... closer to 1.6 than Source. The fact is Piyush, it's a completely different game to either 1.6 or Source. No one has any kind of advantage as it's completely different. It is nothing like 1.6, but nothing like Source, because its a bit of both. The fact that you guys fail to understand that means you are either incredibly ignorant, or just blind stupid. You keep saying "CS:GO is built on Source Engine"... so are so many other games, Team Fortress 2, Day Of Defeat Source, Portal 2, DoTA2, etc etc etc etc, are you gonna say each of those games, are close to CSS just because it's on the Source engine? No I didn't think so. It's irrevelant what engine it was built on. It doesn't mean jack shit when it comes to playing competitively, and every single player who has played all three games at some kind of competitive level completely agrees. "Sauce players have much much more advantage than 1.6ers in CS:GO. Period." No they don't.

Copenhagen Wolves is a top10, correct? Also, playing a new game is extremely random even if it does share a lot of things with the one you play on a daily basis. I am sure VG would have an advantage because of the engine, but ESC probably have superior teamplay.

the cadred rankings aren't always completely accurate... the rankings are also just the euro teams. There are at least 3 NA teams that are better than wolves. "no they dont, I've watched ESC for about 2 years and they are not better than VG" so why would you put in your original reply "but ESC PROBABLY have superior teamplay."

wow. This is amazing stuff. "bc cs:go is pretty much the same as cs:s." Considering it is nothing like Source atm, I aint sure how you can say that.

the only thing not like source atm is the recoil lol, bc the recoil is not like anything in any game ever...the maps are just like source the playstyle is just like source...thats why teh cs:s teams beat teams like anexis, bc we all know theres no way targetdown would have beat anexis in 1.6...

anexis or esc, would not round in mouz or TD in CSS. And players source are saying that recoil is very strange, because it totally different. Congratulations ESC and SK.

So your judgements are on two teams that played each other on a game they have not really played, and that is why CS:GO is like Source. Have you even played Source at a competitive level (please don't use public as an excuse, as I don't even play public anymore)? If so you would know full well that CS:GO is NOTHING like Source. As stated the only similarities, is the map graphics. That is it. The rest are completely different (hitboxes, engine actually updated, recoil, gameplay, movement, weapons, spray patterns etc etc etc etc).

"is closer to source than it is to 1.6". I wasn't even debating that point, I was debating the fact that you seem to think that it's as close to source as it is to 1.6. When it's nowhere near either game (IT IS COMPLETELY NEW). Are you even Indian, if so please oh please answer those calls in those centres?

there is even a blog statin ur name in it ... damn your famous man Guys, lately I've read some incorrect statments about the 1.6 community, and they pretty much came from source guys. Most of them are active users in HLTV.org such as Rickeh, Gumpster, Taylortee, Friza, Spatula, etc... I've also read the same kinda comments about our community from Richard Lewis. I bet you have seen those people talking about the 1.6 community too, and its all about the negatives. hltv.org/blog/5183-16-community

I don't really care about this tournament but I hope a 1.6 team wins this, so we can rub it in the Source players faces how dominant CS 1.6 players are compared to them.
