Delpan returns to SK; trace removed

SK Gaming have announced the return of Marcus "Delpan" Larsson, removing Martin "trace" Heldt in the process.

The Swedish hotshot returns to SK Gaming after being replaced by Heldt in late January. In an interview with HLTV.org, Larsson gave reason to his departure with his lack of motivation.

Larsson has now regained his motivation, he said. After receiving a call from SK Gaming manager Anton Budak saying the team wanted him back, the decision of making a comeback was easy.

"End of January I got "removed" from the team, I was out of shape and unmotivated to the game and I didn’t bring the A game from me at all.

So after some weeks working out and just been away from the game I got a phone call from Budak this weekend telling me the team want me back and that made me really motivated again so the answer was easy.

So I would like to thank the team for believe in me and I’ll do my best to be the best AWPer in the world again, watch out ;)," Larsson told the team's website.

The Swedish team enjoyed quite an impressive run with Larsson before he was replaced by Heldt, coming out on top of events such as GameGune, IEM6 GC New York, DreamHack and ESWC.

Delpan makes SK return

SK Gaming's announcement does not give any details to Heldt's removal other than the obvious. The Dane served the team for less than three months, and the news came as a surprise to most.

However, Heldt revealed to XplayN.com that communication has been a problem for them, adding that Christopher "GeT_RiGhT" Alesund and Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg have had a hard time understanding Danish, which is Heldt's first language.

Commenting on his own future, Heldt said he has exams coming up in June, and if these do not collide with DreamHack Summer, he will probably make an appearance with a Danish team.

While donning the colors of SK Gaming, Heldt assisted the team in getting them to the TECHLABS final, which they did not play, placing 4th at IEM6 WC and 5-6th at Copenhagen Games.

if they had communication problems with trace (i guess this is the reason why all this is happening, because trace did great at CPH games), they can try how hard they want, but wont be good as if there is no language barrier. sure, trace is great player as individual, but if they cant communicate its good for nothing. and face still plays great, it's just about stars like forest and gtr shine more and i dont think changing players is good option. look at ESC gaming, they are together soo long with no change and you can see how it pays off:)

OMG! face is the best player of sk! maybe in the world! face is the most solid player in the world. any team would like to have it. he's a guy who defends's BS alone as a wall. which frees the team to the defederem bs "A" with four players. dude they are PROs.. All they do is bootcamping for All day before tournaments already so I didnt need to talk about that. OFC thats Important as well but... definitely .. trace is the best all round player in the world... if they had to kick him... then it can only be one reason... team communication... everyone can jell in after a time but language barrier is pretty huge to over come.... karrigan and friis might be exceptions though... sk was the most dangerous team with delpan(especially if he hits his shots)... without him they looked the same as before him... good but not the best... delpan is right for them if he really practices hard as we all know shot-missing=lack of practice...

yeah it was language. but they could have known this in advance, so imo it was a retarded move to pick up trace if you're not going to give him and the rest of the team more time to get used to the new way of calling (English) or to give trace time to understand swedish better. and I'm not sure about karrigan but friis speaks decent swedish and understands it all very well

oh come on SK always do the same thing. They blame new player, comunication with him etc. etc. Thats why i will never say they are the best team in the world and it`s doesn`t matter that they have most skilled players like f0rest and GTR. Robban is like cen9 in navi, like loord in esc. They doing very important job ,that is not visible in movies ,there you rate players. "trace carried SK" - I dont thiks so , but to remove trace i think is not right decision, i think they need to do something with face.

Those stats mean nothing really, delpan misses a lot of easy shots and sucks at nuke while markeloff rarely misses any shot and is amazing at every map. In 2011 markeloff was overall better and also a better sniper than lolpan. Stop being patriotic, you cant win here.

You cant say markeloff is the best awper of 2010 or 2011 since there is no such thing as the best awper. every top awper have their moments. the ones that matter make the team to make the top places in tournaments. its not the amount how many awp frags per round you've had or do you miss easy awp shots or not. I provided you with strong evidence straight from HLTV.org. Only reason why Delpan is missing all those shots is because he's one of the rare aggressive AWPers while markeloff is a more defensive AWPer that's waiting at a certain spot for someone to reveal themselves. Delpan takes risks, sometimes it pays off, sometimes it doesn't and he was still the best AWPer in 2011 not just according to me but according to the stats as well. Wtf dude, markeloff is 100x times more consistent, he plays very well in every map while delpan usually sucks vs top teams and sucks big time in nuke. Besides, if SK is long many rounds and delpan cant get an awp the match is over for him, while markeloff can still own with or without awp. I would even say friis/trace/karrigan are better than delpan not only overall but as awp players aswell. While these 4 players make 1/2 bad matches out of 10 matches, lolpan makes 4/5 bad matches out of 10 and you know this. Besides, hes a fucking idiot, he thinks he ever was the best awp in the world (LOL). He is good, but markeloff is way better than that idiot. Also, you're a big fanboy of him, you would never say i am right, just because you like delpshit. Don't know if he is now but in AWPing, he was in 2011 but not overall, not as a player, but as an AWPer, he at least was. "Delpan sucks vs top teams and sucks big time in nuke" Did you follow the CS scene in 2011? =D SK didn't win anything when Delpan was in fnatic and when he left fnatic, fnatic didn't win anything while SK won ALMOST everything. I don't agree that just because Delpan can't get an AWP it would f*ck the whole round over, I think he's improved his rifling much and he is a decent rifler, not near the top riflers but he's pretty alright. The way you're trying to make him look like as a player is funny, just shows that you have something against him and his attitude :-) I don't care what he's saying, he's the best AWPer or at least was in 2011 and I love his playing style. If I would be a fanboy I would say that Delpan was the best player in the world and that he owns everyone, I'm not saying that, all I'm saying is that he was the best AWPer in 2011 and that is true, whether you like it or not.

I did follow. Lol, fnatic didnt win anything while delpan was in SK? ahahah nice joke. DH 2011 for example? and also another tournament which i cannot remember... What about delpan bad performances vs Navi, ESC, etc ? Why dont you talk about that? He was clearly the less consistent player in SK and he sucked most of times vs any team in nuke. Yes, delpan is amazing with the awp, hits important shots with it, still, hes not consistent enough to be the best. Look at his performances at SEC 2011, IEM6 NY, ESWC 2011, DH WINTER 2011 and WCG 2011. He was clearly being carried by face GTR and f0rest, no matter what you say, his rankings were always 4th/5th on the team. Now look at markeloff. His worst ranking was 4th at SEC 2011, the rest of the WHOLE year was always ranking of 1st/2nd in the team. You call delpan the best awp? I call him a unstable player. If i had to choose between those 2 i would ALWAYS choose markeloff and i think everyone would with the exception of delpans fanboys and he himself (because he actually thinks he is the best LOL).

You're still on about this? Stats aren't everything, but in 2011 the overall stats put Friis first and Markeloff/Delpan joint-second. What you're doing here is simply cherry-picking. Don't even start with the "ZOMG IT DOSENT COUNT IF DEPLAN WASNT THEER!!1oneone" bullshit, unless you're going to be fair about it. And this means going through every game and removing the stats from all of those AWP vs pistol aces Delpan got against Spanish teams at Gamegune, along with many other such instances.

:) I think that Delpan is great AWP player. I also think that he can be placed next to Friis, going in front of aslak and FalleN. But markeloff, trace, karrigan... They are one level above as players. Trace isn't one to blame for SKs bad results. His entry skills cannot be declined (he was best entry fragger of 2010), and I believe he was best entry fragger of SK in the last event. I simply think that this SK lineup with trace did not have enough time to put all pieces together. That is all :) P.S. Zinedine Zidane was not one to blame for Real Madrid's failures :)

with adding delpan there was no language difference, friis actually speaks and understands swedish better than trace. (im not sure about karrigan swedish btw) and there's a thousand factors in CS as to who wins an event, you know this. Why would you expect a team to win their first event with a new line-up just because 2 other teams managed to pull it off? it happens once every 30 events on average. look how long it took for PGS to start winning events (they played for almost a year before they won their first international prize). same for navi, although that was probably mostly thanks to Mr. Arbalets sponsoring which allowed them to practice full time, as they had very nice salaries.

They got to defensive liq.. trace was great and all but they didn't play as a team at all. With Delpan in 2011 I still think they relied too much on their individual skills which they do now too but they performed and had a great team then. SK has enough individual good players and I think they didn't need trace to be good, which they proved many times like in 2011. He is a better played than Delpan but it's not what they need.

well allright, considering the fact they can now properly communicate again and have a great offensive awper/entry fragger may slightly boost their teamgame, but I surely doubt SK can be really better with delpan in his current form than with trace if they had kept on praccing and given him the time to get used to them (and vice versa, and getting used to the new form of communication) oh and they took him in about a month before the event right, not too much time to pracc with him yet so it's kind of logical they did not play as a team imo ;x

Sorry to disturb you chap, but trace is better in every element of game than Delpan, excluding AWP. This team was simply not allowed to gain more practice with trace :) Markeloff is better AWP than Delpan. Without arguing. + aslak / FalleN / Friis are there. Trace and karrigan are simply better players than Delpan, although his AWP skills are stronger than theirs.

The best AWPer of 2011 is back! Good luck to trace, I'm really sorry that he left because he's one of the best players out there. He will probably retire or team up with xapso but I'd love to see him keep playing. I think this is the best possible line-up for SK, they were to defensive with trace in the team and they really need a stable AWPER and what better way is it than to pick up Delpan if you're in need of a top AWPer? I hope Delpan has some motivation now and can play like he did in 2011. Welcome back, the best AWPer in the world! ;-)

both nuggi and coloN uses awps mostly(well coloN uses scout but whatever), and not really using any other weaps. Dont think nuggi is too good with rifles. coloN is sick aimer though.

Since two of them uses awp mostly, I don't see a problem here, since 2 awpers are very common, and trace would a be a good rifler, 'cause I think he isnt' a based awp player, and was forced to awping. It's not unprofessional like you said. SK did a huge mistake when they removed Delpan, and now it was payed out. Maybe trace was playing good on this events, but they couldn't win with him, or even finish the tourneys in top3 spot. An organisation like SK should be able to take spots like this. In my opinion trace wasn't a good replacement for the best awper like Delpan, trace is basiclly a defensive awper, unlike Marcus.

In total yeah, I think Delpan is better than trace in SK, but it's funny that they are changing players after 2-3 events. Look at ESC, they were playing with pasha almost six months and didn't won anything. After that, they did a great job latest 2010 and all 2011. Since that time they are top3 on almost every event. Ok, we will se, for me Delpan is better choise too, but if they will replace RobbaN after next event because they didn't won anything and they need better igl, I will be laughing.

Funny thing is, on big events Ukraine has 1 good team, Poland has 1 good team, Denmark to be honest has no good teams (try to compare Xapso or Anexis to NaVi or fnatic...), etc., and Sweden has 3-4 good teams on every event. It's simple, that they have better chances to win something with 4 teams, than for example Poland which have 1 team :)

I was just finding it amusing that you speak of swedish teams as they don't know the road to success, as they're winning more events than any other country. and it's just two teams that are winning, not 3-4. It's also easier to keep one steady lineup when you don't have loads of other players in your national scene that is top skilled.

They didn't remove him from the lineup because he was playing bad, he was actually the one that played best imo, but you gotta understand that the language ain't that similar to eachother, so few of the swedes might have trouble understanding trace. And to be able to have decent teamplay communication is key, which is hard when they don't really understand eachother. Also they needed a decent AWP and to be fair Delpan is better than trace with AWP. What I don't like is that they change players so often and come up with lame excuses all the time, instead of just admitting and telling the truth. Lost alot of respect for SK because of that.

Don't blame SK. Trace was the best player from SK, had the aim, the brains, the skills, can play good all the time. You won't see trace renaming "cAnTpLaYgUt" or get emotional like GTR. Anyway, if they say that the team asked for this, then it's a good move for SK. fnatic as well as ESC and Na`Vi, will rape them this year though. SK will be possibly the 3rd team in the world this year sadly.

not really that shocking i guess, seeing as they didnt win with trace in the team (surprise) and they won when they had Delpan in the team. neither their playing styles nor the communication seemed to work out well at all with him in the team so logical decision. dreamteams looks good on paper but rarely works in reality, this is just another example of that. anyway, this decision might also be a bit premature and it makes me wonder if the fact that their biggest rivals both in sweden but also on an organisational level -- fnatic -- won Cph Games had anything to do with it. wouldnt surprise me one bit actually.

btw Budak means slave in my country LOL. it's understandable though when you get bored of something, and you have a good break, you can be easily be excited again. it happened to me too. I stopped playing cs for 2 years and out of no where I missed seeing f0rest and GTR (my fav team was fnatic) and I was shocked that they both moved to SK (my fav team now). so after I watched some demos and read HLTV, I play cs again now :)

The fact that they chose to remove trace with all his skills means that the communication really was hurting them. But time would have fixed that...? I think they want to start winning to quickly. This will make their game stable for now but eventually in the long run trace would have been such a strong fit they could have potentially destroyed everyone. Oh well. Kindve expected from SK to be honest. This is how they have always been run. Look at ESC and Na'Vi, they know that just adding the elite of the game doesn't mean you'll win each game. So clearly SK's strategy in the way it handles players can make any player slumping a little to be afraid they will be kicked. Which could lead to bad play in it's own. Thank god lemondogs are so cool:)

This so called organisation is a joke. Budak and TheSlash can go get lost and each player in the team IF they agreed on releasing trace. RobbaN you are far from being a good tactical leader. You cannot handle f0rest, get_right and trace in the same manner as cArn handled two of them and Gux in fnatic. It was basicaly the same with worlds 3 best players in the team. GeT_RiGhT you obviously are top3 best aimer today yet you prefer sneaking up from behinde and being so fkin defensive or coward playstyle when you are best known for your aggressiveness in fnatic 2009. Who else is in SK is a better defensive player and offensiv at the moment when needed besides trace? Giving him time would be better instead of kicking him, it would fix the communication problem fitting him in the team as swell, exchange programs show how to fix language barriers: time. If people can't understand what he's saying all the time, that's a problem. Why should SK keep trace when the players demanded him to leave? Even if SK refused to do so, the chemistry, which wasn't strong even before, would be even worse. Though Im excited for this lineup, I think they should have kept trace, let him get used to the team and the team to him, and give him a language course or something. I believe once they become one, boom #1 cs team. But oh well, they have made their decision and me as a fan will just have to support them no matter what. Not sure if serious >_> We'll probably see 'Delpan' for a couple of games before he reverts back to 'Lolpan' a few months later. I'm sad for trace though.. he's been so great for SK. But I can certainly understand why they prefer Delpan. They had quite a success together, and Delpan being Swedish is a huge plus on the communication and social side.

Only teams which did beat them last year were FX(ESC) and Natus Vincere. Another interesting fact was that they were losing against ESC only in finals and against Na 'Vi in quarter-finals.

Its the right choice. Why would they wait for 6 months and keep paying players. Especially when we all know sk wants results and do not look into the future play. I believe if trace would be in sk down the line they would be an unstoppable force with the amount of raw skill they have. But Sk wants results now. Delpan is the way to go coz of his play style. I knew from the beginning language barrier will be a big problem for SK. By watching demos and videos, I can clearly see they misunderstand lots of situations. Whoever said Delpan wasnt consistent, I would say please watch demos of last year, each match he has performed. You noobs need to watch delpan assualt and mag, both are best. He is very consistent and a match winning player. Man you guys are so noobs, please remove Robban and get Walle ( walle was best, in leading the team and individually he was a best player. Robban has made many mistakes in the game. And trace was really good, he gave his 100%. Guys we need to be practical and not show partiality. I would say in SK when it comes to pressure - Forest, GTR, Face, Delpan, trace are able to handle and perform. But Robban fails in this. Anyways GG Trace, all the best to u. trace is very good player; I have big respect for him, but I think that SK made right move with bringin Delpan again ! Delpan just needed some rest from CS, and now, he's motivated again, so I wish them all best in next tour. SK TheSlash told that BDS and he had dream about having f0rest in team. He even admitted in 2009 that he is ready to kick anybody for him. So when f0rest and GTR called and told they want to play with RobbaN and alleN it's totally reasonable to TheSlash to kick walle and moddii. Moddii who were still long time standing for SK and walle who was very unmotivated and not on fire.. and he was not even their IGL anymore. I mean why do you play organisation? Specially on this..? Delpan's statement tolds that TEAM wants him back, why people blame organisations? And about blaming RobbaN, did you see those strats in ESWC 2011, he is so good. Statistic yes, but not most skilled sniper..... its a team game delpan would have had crap stats if he played for example fnatic 2011

IMO, since he had the best kd ratio and most awp kills if I'm not mistaken, and when he grabbed the AWP he was massive (both in fnatic and in SK), he was the best awper in 2011 overall, we can discuss about friss in late 2011 and markeloff(alhoguh I think Delpan was better in 2011 @AWP)

you know that you deleted the only player in SK that we know that understands danish well also he's really stable and got an amazing rifle skill when he's defending atleast and even on the T side on train
