markeloff: "Horrible game from us"

After Natus Vincere's 2-0 victory against place2play.ru, we sat down with Yegor "markeloff" Markelov for a quick chat about the match.

The Ukrainians have become the second team to reach the ProGamerSeries final, and will now contest the trophy and the €9,000 cheque with fnatic, who beat Anexis earlier in the day.

This match will provide Na´Vi with just the opportunity to take revenge on fnatic after losing the Copenhagen Games, DreamHack Summer and GameGune finals against the Scandinavian team.

In this interview, Markelov talks about Na´Vi's "horrible" performance against place2play.ru, his team's chances against fnatic and also his current AWP form.

What do you think about the game against place2play.ru? Did it go as you expected?

I expected a tough game, I know they are a really good and skilled mix team, but I did not expect such a horrible game from us. There was a lot of miscommunication, we were screaming a lot to each other and that is why the score was like that.

You lost to place2play in the TECHLABS final two weeks ago. What changed? Do you think that they are a little bit weaker now, considering they are a mix team with a stand-in, or is your team better prepared?

I would not compare those games, because on that day we were really tired, ceh9 and I had a plane to catch to Dubai, and it was only one game in the final. Now, we are really confident, at least I thought so, but today it was really hard to play against them.

You lost the last three finals against fnatic. What are your chances of beating them this time around?

It is really hard to predict what is going to happen, because I know that fnatic have been playing extremely well, I have watched some of their matches. We will give our best, we practiced for a week, so we will be well prepared and hoping we will not make such mistakes like we did today. Revenge? A little bit, but it is more about winning than getting revenge.

karrigan said that, considering the last tournaments, fnatic are the number one team in the world. Do you agree with him?

For now, I agree with him, they have won a lot of tournaments and beat us in three finals, they deserve to be called the number one team today.

You lost one map against Anexis yesterday. What happened? Is de_tuscan a bad map for you?

It is not a bad map for us, but I guess it is the best map for Anexis. We played against them like a week ago and we lost pretty bad. We expected to play de_tuscan against them ad we knew that this was their best map. We played really well, Edward had some amazing clutches, but they ended up winning.

I had you in my Dreamteam and you lost 1,000 points as a Sniper on one map against p2p. Do you feel you are not at your best when it comes to using the AWP?

In the last tournaments, I played with the AWP on almost all maps, including de_train, where I used it a lot. But now I play with the AWP on 50 per cent of the maps, so I did not practice it enough. Anyway, I am feeling really confident with this gun. Next time, use the role Camper for me, for sure!

The inevitable question: will your team switch to CS:GO?

I do not know yet. We will decide after this tournament.

Markeloff is really SUPER AMAZING player and person. I like him as a player since saw him first time, vs mTw at GameGune, where he beat Sunde with AWP! :>

Sunde was invincible. That time Sunde beated markeloff and navi, it was amazing. shit, a lot of memories becomes in my mind... ow, great time when mTw-NaVi played at GG, WCG - my favourite demos... Fuckin csgo, burn in the hell.

sunde's skill was better than markeloff all time of playing Christoffer. Once Marik said: "To be honest, Sunde is the one person who can defeat me..." In opinion, the most interesting games was mTw versus NaVi. Secondly, SK-GoldenFive. May be mousesports with cyx was very hard team.
