NiP clinch THOR spot over VeryGames

NiP have clinched the THOR Open Qualifier #6 by defeating VeryGames 16-6 on de_train_se.

Following a knife round loss, NiP started their terrorist campaign with a strong three-on-five win in an after plant situation at the inner bombsite, where three of their players went down to under 20hp early and VG ultimately had no time to defuse after killing off every Swede.

One-on-three hero of the pistol round Christopher "GeT_RiGhT" Alesund scored two more frags on VeryGames's saverounds, which put NiP up 3-0. VeryGames won round four, but Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg and Robin "Fifflaren" Johansson clutched a two-on-five on the following round, forcing VG to save twice.

GeT_RiGhT was the hero of the beginning with a one-on-three in the pistol round

Now trailing 1-6 on the much favored counter-terrorist side of the map, VG quickly responded with a round, but two entry kills by Lindberg combined with three AK47 kills from Adam "friberg" Friberg quickly won NiP the next round despite VeryGames's accidental use of the non allowed incendiary grenades.

Overaggressive play from NiP cost them a save round loss with Edouard "SmithZz" Dubourdeaux winning the French side a three-on-one after Johansson took out his two other teammates by ladder room.

However, VeryGames were once again unable to connect two rounds in a row, and after Alesund's one-on-one win versus Kevin "Ex6tenZ" Droolans in the next round, the French were forced to go on another eco with the score standing at 9-3.

NiP's friberg then had some problems, disconnecting from the server two rounds in a row, but the Swedes were unaffected, bringing the half to a 12-3 result.

After a minor break, the second half started and despite carefully placed smoke grenades in the alley, VeryGames were completely denied, now trailing 3-13.

But the French had an ace in their sleeve, buying two Galil's and two P250s in the second round, which took NiP by surprise in the inner bombsite and brought the score to 4-13.

NiP attempted a semi-buy of their own in the eighteenth round, with a shotgun, an SMG and a few Desert Eagles, but it didn't work and VeryGames were on their way back into the game, including the eco round later, score became 13-6.

An exciting round followed when both teams were finally fully armed and it came down to a one-on-one which Johansson brought home with an AWP wallbang.

Fifflaren's wallbang in a 1vs1 put a stop to VG's potential comeback

Successful defense of the inner bombsite put NiP on match point and even though we were unable to see the last round of the match due to a GOTV bug, the Swedes brought it to a close with a 16-6 score.

Yes, VG lineup has constantly changed. youtube.com/watch?v=-7-Q11XFovc Only RpK, NBK and Ex6 really stayed long....probably same amount of time f0rest, GTR and xizt played together in all the time

friberg was a player expected to flop at LAN, he was also expected to be NiP's weak link, yet his form and the way he plays (an aggressive style), he is one of the few players to get their entry frags. Statistics only show one part of a story. You can be an amazing player statistically but shit for a team. Theres a key difference.

Sourcers are just used to run/spray and wait for buggy-lucky headshots cause of that terrible engine source and GO has. Against a team like NIP who has some sense of gaming in general, are smart enough to use decent strats which make these running robots confused as fuck. What an interesting "competitive" scene indeed.

"Against a team like NIP who has some sense of gaming in general, are smart enough to use decent strats which make these running robots confused as fuck." GeT_RiGhT confirmed that their strats are "random" to him? I kind of don't get why people are still hating upon "source players", when these players aern't "source players" anymore, nor is anyone "1.6 players", if they are playing GO at a competitive level, then they are now "GO players".....

They are probably the only reason NIP could lose matches. Obiviously they are decent with elite team mates using high level communition skills. Other than that they bring nothing in NIP other than 2 more targets.

Me rage quit? You must have me confused with yourself. It takes you forever to respond to a simple comment, you are the one that has explained absolutely nothing yet are stating that I have not. I am not the one bashing 2 source players on the team you are praising, which makes absolutely no sense mind you. I am not stating it as an insult, I am recognizing your problem and promptly accepting your situation. I am also not debating the topic, with ignorance as extensive as yours, I am sure it would prove no more fruitful then trying to argue theoretical science with Stephen Hawking.

One last stand as they say. Well done nice to have you with us :D again But yeah, NIP has 2 weak players where teams like ESC and NAVI have all 5 from 1.6. So if NIP oneday starts to lose matches, replacing these two would probably settle it. I did not regonize my problem, before somebody beyond thousonds miles kindly had studied my behavior long enough to make that educated statement. Americans as usually, thanks =)

NiP's "weak" players that you speak of, keep on having solid showings in the events they attend. Against a very solid team in VG, they both also had their moments and one of those 1.6 players you speak of, was at the bottom of the list. This is a team game, we know of their individual skill, but as a team they come together and get things done while feeding off of each other for the next round. Now your bringing up Na'Vi and ESC, Na'Vi never playing GO competitively, ESC just basically starting. The future is bright for all of the pro teams as they develop their gameplay, strats, aim and movement. But the question is not how good they can become, the question is can they become better? ESC doing well against CPH Wolves and tying with BuyKey, Na'Vi with no GO results as of yet. There is a long road ahead of everyone, including NiP themselves. Not because of the 2 source players you bash, but because the competition will be as strong as ever. So troll hard with someone else, you will never place in the top 10 here. Of course you would not recognize your own problem, no one recognizes they are an alcoholic, to them they just like to drink. A study of your ignorance is not required, reading your posts are enough to justify what I have stated and what others have to state. For your information, a country does not speak for me, I speak for myself. In that case, no sir. Thank you.

Everything before "not because 2 source players...) I agree, never said i didnt. But if NIP suddenly starts losing games, it definetly is NOT because of their 1.6 trio, and like ive said they are decent players, with the help and support of a great communication skills and team strats. But they do not "Add" anything in to team, they are easily replacable with any decent gamer. CS:GO is still new and teams get better as we speak, its just a matter of time before NIP needs to replace these two, unless GTR, Forest and Xizt can hold their huge cap of invidual skill compared to other top teams.

I am at a loss as to how anyone could blame two players on "losing matches". I thought CS was a team game? They bring a lot more to the team than just "communication skills" if they didn't, they wouldn't be the team to beat currently.

I do not blame these two for nothing, NIP is on a winning streak afterall. BUT They dont bring anything in the team, they are simply two players that can hold on at this level. NIP currently is too dominant with their 1.6 trio that other players are far away invidually. What i mean was, if NIP someday starts losing games (probably never does) its because of their 2 sourcers. Navi has best 1.6 team ever existed so they quickly become superior tho these sourcers. Then its 5vs3 for NAVI.

of course they bring something to the table other than being fill-ins. friberg is actually very talented and has done great in important matches, including the eswc final where he was top rated. they also have a lot to offer regarding smokes, movement etc as it's a source engine game. navi were great 2-3 years ago.. quit living in a bubble. they haven't been nearly as excellent in 2011 and 2012, and the swedes, danes and poles caught up with them again. esc is by the way the best team of all time in 1.6, without any doubt what so ever.

It's funny how VG completely curb stomps ESC and yet when NiP stomps VG suddenly "saucers are bad". Seems like the #2 team in the world right now is a full source team, and the #1 team in the world has two source players. How well did ProGaming do at ESWC btw? Yeah, get off the dicks of players who are 10x better than you and 99% of the 1.6ers who switched over barring GTR, f0rest and xizt.

I don't think ESC or fnatic or NaVi will reach the level of NiP until they switch out some of their 1.6 players for source players. Same thing goes for VG, they need to cut one or two players for strong 1.6 players. Across both continents, it has been proven that mixed teams are undoubtedly the best. For NA that is A51, for EU that is NiP. The #2 team in the world is a full source team, how well are the full 1.6 teams doing? Oh right, getting 16-0'd by A51 or 16-3'd by VG at ESWC. People talk shit about sourcers, but they're actually doing very well considering the #2 team is a full source squad and the #1 team has two sourcers. That's 7/10 of the top players in CSGO coming from source. I can't take anything away from f0rest, gtr and xizt though. Those guys are just incredible.

"The #2 team in the world is a full source team, how well are the full 1.6 teams doing? Oh right, getting 16-0'd by A51 or 16-3'd by VG at ESWC." You forgot that CS:GO is more like Source and players from CS 1.6 are playing Source Engine Game about 3 months! Give sourcers even 1 year in CS 1.6 and I will be sure that they will be smashed in every match with professional teams.

CS:GO is completely different from source, you are a total moron. A lot of source players struggled mightily to switch to GO, including Dynamic and Zomblerz from NA. The movement, recoil, spray, weapon cooldown, grenade physics and so on are all different. The only similarity is the maps, which are easier to play than the 1.6 maps so it should be no problem for a 1.6 player to adjust. You are fucking clueless.

Keep insulting. For me CS:GO is CS:Source 2, you can't change my view. They don't call it CS:Source 2 because Source was worse than CS 1.6 (maybe "fail" in their mind), thats why they called it Global Offensive to attract more players from games like CoD, BF. About the CS:GO it could still have source movement, recoil, spray, grenade physics if the players from CS 1.6 wouldn't help in changes.

I don't care about your opinion, I care about facts. Facts are the game is very different from CSS and a lot of Source players struggle to transition because CSGO is much harder. The hitboxes are smaller and the AWP is a much harder weapon to use. English isn't your first language so it's hard to gauge if you're stupid or just struggle to explain yourself, either way what you said makes no sense and is not relevant at all. I completely destroyed your argument that CS:GO was more similar to Source and you responded with "it's my view", then proceeded to talk about random shit that has nothing to do with anything. Reading these forums is like reading something written from 12 year old kids with dyslexia.

i'm not like trying to fuck you or something. But it is way more source then 1.6. and your argument regarding the maps that are way easier is also bullshit. It's easier for people that just started playing yes. Because they can hide behind tires, a truck, coca cola can etc. But it's not easier for 1.6 players. css'ers have way more exp in walking in these maps. corners etc. i am still bumping into shit.. ofc everyone needs to get used to the spraying and nades etc. But when youre talking about maps cssers do have an advantage.

Not forgetting the game speed. CSGO and CSS are much faster than 1.6. As a fact a 1.6 player has considerable disadvantages.

The fucking maps are completely different omfg. This website is starting to really irritate me with spastics like you who have no idea talk as if you have facts. Maps in cS:GO are fucking so much smaller and much less room to move than source. Dont believe me? Load up d2 in source and then d2 in cs:go you absolute fucking cretin.

I wasn't talking about scale or anything. I was talking about how the map looks. And the amount of objects etc. stop trying to make it look like there is noone having an advantage. there is.. and it's the css'ers. But just wait when those newer maps are gonna be played. Then you will see how much it cares just to know exactly where a box is. or how hard it is for us to get used to a weird extra hallway in banana. Takes lots of practise to get to know the do's and don'ts.

"ace in their sleeve" This is not the correct phrase. It is a combination of two different ones, "Ace up your sleeve" and "ace in the hole".

Okay, so vg better beat consistently nip in order to achieve that feelings(how does it like to beat the best team) to beat NIP that is obviously right now enormously handi-capped in skills and experienced(got 1.6 trios which is NIP) than them right now, because when csp gets released into esport scene in the future. I am hella sure no sources will ever have the chances to get into top spots in the whole world. You know csp adapted cs.16 gameplay right :) you know what i mean when i said sources will never have the chances to surpass 1.6 teams So now is the perfect game and times for sources to actually competently playing with the likes of NIP. Im sure they now understands how does it feels to constantly lose especially in LAN againts NIP. Because in 1.6, those winning and losing in world's best cs events is just normal for NIP(im referring to 1.6 trios). You can see now the years of LANs experience favours to NIP whilst basicly vg has been always undefeated in terms of top spots in css scene.

Meh all this bitching about what's better 1.6 or css. . Deal with the fact that some players from each game will excel??? Just happens so that nip hold all the cards at the moment. Friberg was a totally unexpected talent, he's just adapted to CSGO really well. Just because players were good doesn't mean they'll be good in CSGO as esc are showing, they may be decent but their aim is miles from get right and forest. Don't bullshit with the whole hours argument either, they've had enough time to learn the recoil!

VeryGames were very weak. Maybe they are saving strats for lan or it just wasn't their day (i'm not a fanboy of them, it's just that i've seen them playing way better in previous matches, well maybe except that 16-4 loss in ESWC).

There were so many matches already played for the past couple of weeks, surprised no demos were posted from all those 2-3 events going on at the same time...
