ESEA sticks to old map rotation

ESEA have announced on their website that its fifteenth Invite season will stick to the original map rotation which features de_train_ve and de_mirage_ce.

ESEA originally announced plans to use Salvatore "Volcano" Garozzo's de_train_ve after it easily defeated de_train_se in a vote by its users back in early September.

After event organizers such as ESL, DreamHack and ESWC teamed up to start using the same map rotations to ease players' preparation for events, ESEA also had to do a doubletake.

The American organizers then organized two more votes on its website to help them determine the version of de_train and de_mirage to be used in the current season, with the originals prevailing.

This meams the final two maps of ESEA Invite Season 15 will be de_train_ve and de_mirage_ce, unlike many other tournaments. Full rotation is out on ESEA's website.

I think that in the really high levels of play small things like that make a HUGE difference. Could be wrong though

troll or stupid? the same tactics on mirage_ce do not work on valve mirage.. except the most basic default setups where u hold spots as T in the beginning. nothing else works like it used to, u cant throw smokes to b window/door from b house, u cant throw link smoke from t spawn, u cant flash a balcony from t slope, you cant plant on A like u used to before, link cant be smoked completely off if u go cat.. and on and on it goes.. and on train_ve its also completely different how you hold yard, how do you plant on the mid train etc etc etc and how u can counter all those things when u figure out it on T as a CT

well I know some but what does it matter anyway, pointless discussion since esea sticks with em, vg and others state that they dont want the valve version and theres a big reason behind that as well. they just dont play out right. right now its like 13-2 2-13 (15-15) pretty much every time on valve mirage when two solid teams confront.

One of the reasons why train is such a CT map is, that the bomb site was placed in the middle, giving you very few cover opportunities. A basic tac is to smoke each side of the site, and get at quick plant, leaving you with only connection and popdog to cover from. I hated that shit. The placement is far better, but I still think it should placed in the old site (the 4). Valves train version is a joke, after they updated it. You can see a pixel under the trains, but you cant shoot/grenade through. A bit lame imo. Have you even tried it? It is an AWESOME peak map. So open for battles, and the old awp connection battle is back.

is it really hard to believe it's possible to play more than 1 version of a map on an international competitive level? ppl use to complain about more maps are needed, these different versions are the closest we are ever going to get to. It would be interesting to see teams using different strategies if they were to ever play 2 versions of the same map in a bo3.

Believe what you want, at first they didn't want to go, the prize pool didn't cover the travel expenses. They beta tested the Arms Deal update and made some PR stuff for Valve, Valve paid the trip. You have no clue.

yes i remember now. though pretty sure without having the m4a1-s and other stuff in that update for them to playtest they would never have paid for the trip just out of the kindness of their hearts. it was more convenient that they had the ESEA finals to attend while valve were working on that patch. so yes i do have a clue. valve wont be paying for anything else for any team in the near future.

Good job ESEA! But I think it's hard to fight vs. Valves money, they are forcing tourneys to use their shitty versions. I swear god every would play train_ve instead of train, and same goes for mirage of course. Why Valve doesn't take Volcano as official map modifer? They are so fucking obstinate with their own maps. I don't know where that comes from. They want to show to community that they can make maps too? Every version Volcano has made is a lot better than Valves version. We saw that on nuke and Valve made the change. After that I thought Valve has something sense on these things and would take Volcanos train too but no...

+1 We need more creative in maps like the old greatest maps, like aztec, dust2, nuke, train, inferno. Nowadays they only make maps full of box and sheds. What about a little bit of creative Valve? I think Volcano is the one for this changes.

I don't understand people saying "Good job ESEA". There should be like a big meeting with Valve, ESEA and others to have an agreement and have one final version of each map in every tournament. Besides that I think train and mirage will be veto and never played in ESEA 15 europe (already true). I like the effort that ESEA is doing with both pro players and community but it's not like they are alone (>Valve).

Flame much if you want, but I dont think that this is a good idea. If we play the other versions on public, Id sure like it better if they used just these on pro leagues and tournaments as well. People always flame about the new stuff, but when they are forced to play it, they soon realize that its not too bad.

I feel like Valve's Mirage is just under appreciated because the other version came first. I'm neutral with this decision, and I realize it has a lot of professional backing, but what if Valve's version came first? Everybody would just learn to accept it.

nahh.. Even if it did, the textures are better for eyes view.. The Valve mirage is really messy.

I understand that, and agree, but it can also be said about the other versions of other maps too; considering Volvo loves fog.

One question guys: how often do you see train on the tournaments? Nobody wants to play it, so there must be a reason for that and the reason is THAT MAP IS BAD in valve's versions. I used to play it back in 1.6 and it was one of coolest map imo (even if it's CT-sided) and now it looks like typical deathmatch map, that's sad. +1 for volcano's train in matchmaking.

yea you are right, but i think its more obvious with the mirage map. it was by far the most played and most loved map in csgo and after valve made their own mirage version noone really wanted to play it anymore

ESEA made the right choice by adding these two maps. I think it's an awesome idea, and I would like to see train_ve on more competive tournaments.
