NBK, ScreaM, SmithZz out - Report

According to Vakarm.net, there are big changes ahead in the French scene, with Nathan "NBK" Schmitt, Adil "ScreaM" Benrlitom and Edouard "SmithZz" Dubourdeaux all out of Titan, who have apparently recruited LDLC.com trio Dan "apEX" Madesclair, Hovik "KQLY" Tovmassian and Mathieu "Maniac" Quiquerez.

Several sources have confirmed to Vakarm.net that major changes are on the horizon in the French scene, started by Titan, who have supposedly removed Adil "⁠ScreaM⁠" Benrlitom and Edouard "⁠SmithZz⁠" Dubourdeaux from the lineup.

Nathan "⁠NBK-⁠" Schmitt followed suit and left the squad after that, with the former VeryGames squad then poaching three LDLC members - Dan "⁠apEX⁠" Madesclaire, Hovik "⁠KQLY⁠" Tovmassian and Mathieu "⁠Maniac⁠" Quiquerez - to complete the lineup.

But that's not where the story ends, as two of the departed members, NBK- and SmithZz, seem to have formed a new team with former VeryGames teammate Richard "⁠shox⁠" Papillon, as well as with Vincent "⁠Happy⁠" Schopenhauer and Fabien "⁠kioShiMa⁠" Fiey.

Titan's rumored roster would be:

I'm not sure what your definition of backstab is. If you want to crucify NBK for wanting a change (for what he thinks will be better for himself) then you should crucify f0rest and GTR too for ditching cArn and dsn who paved the way for their respective careers and eventual success. Try to separate job and friendship for once.. not every team is like NiP and believe me they too will change their line-up if they go 1 year without achieving anything. NBK and SmithZz obviously know the ins and outs about Titan and they might feel Titan's current line-up has reached it's full potential and now they are facing a brick wall ahead of them for almost a year without having much sucess. Things have to change for the better. Of all people, SmithZz and NBK along with Ex6TenZ have stuck together for the longest time since CS:S VG dominated era. If one of them thinks "okay guys this isn't going to work anymore" then it's time for change. Nobody has the right to call NBK (or even SmithZz and ex6) a backstabber for what he has done for VeryGames and Titan. Things might change for the better or worse but ultimately it has to be done for them to progress with their respective careers.

getrigth and f0rest did literally backstab and tried to kick carn and dsn from fnatic without them knowing. they ended up in SK and gux ended up like scream nowhere to go. not all of us forget and yes getrigth and f0rest will allways be egoistic backstabbers for me. did they try to secure their best interests? yes. was it the best approach to the problem? no. it was shameful. IMO

He didn't perform in the role that was given him though, in the first game that they beat HR 16-1 he got like 3 AWP kills despite having it for 10 rounds or something like that, he missed every AWP shot and just cleaned them up with the CZ instead.

how the hell is ScreaM apparently retiring and not ex6tenz? ex6 is titan's worst player by far. i don't think titan could figure out the awp situation, nor could they open on T side without kennyS (i honestly think virtus pro has the same problem of relying on pasza too often). i think the titan lineup pre-kennyS (when shox was on the roster) was absolutely filthy. i think smithZz will come into his own again as an awper since he already has that chemistry with shox and NBK. i would love to see someone other than kio on the new roster but i could be wrong about him i guess.

Yeah but instead of 3 top teams there are now 2 contenders. If Titans 2 AWP setup can get working now, they're unstoppable whereas the new Xteam can already be a top contender, a stronger one in my eyes because of the riflepower and Smithz was definitely very good AWPer, good to see him back.

Double awp setups is good and fine, but it isn't a setup you can afford very often. KQLY will prolly be the 2nd sniper after KennyS, so no he suddenly is going to be a rifler, and I think Titan could have gotten a much better rifler if they kept ScreaM. Also, is Maniac the best option? And when it comes to former Epsilon, Happy will be great for Shox, who can focus more on what he does best; fragging. NBK always work well with Shox but surprisingly they stick with smithzz over fxyo. Must be some social stuff behind that decision since I believe fxyo got way more potential.

I actually think that he doesn't need a lot of practice, just like Shox. Scream's problem is that his ADADAD movement is fucked. He needs to try and fix it or he's screwed... If he finds a new way for his movement, he will be topfragging with Shox once again and not even GR will stop them.

The double awp setup on CT will be devastating though, holy fuck. Not sure I quite like what Epsilon got out of it, but maybe they'll prove me wrong. Perhaps NBK will start fragging like he used to again, I think shox is gonna give him more room to breathe like he had in Source.

Good AWP player doesn't need to carry his team. He needs to make a pick, entry frag or hold an important view point safe/locked. Fact that kennyS and kqly do carry their teams is more a problem than a good thing.

I think he's good enough with rifles. A double-AWP setup is extremely OP when you have 2 good AWP players. We have some great rifle players that are better than KQLY, but I don't think it would be worth to replace KQLY with them. You would lose a strong double-AWP setup to have a player that is only a bit better with rifles, since KQLY is not that bad. Unless you bring shox, who is a god with any weapon, I think KQLY is the best man for them

Those lineups just make no sense. apEX and kennyS talked about never wanting to play together. kennyS and KQLY are both dedicated awpers, them on the same team is just weird. Maniac and ex6 on the same team is way to little firepower for me. So you have a HUGE AWPing presence in kenny and KQLY but Maniac and ex6 really lack in fragging but then you have apEX somewhere in the middle. I'm way more interested in the other lineup, however I would have liked to see fxy0 on that lineup instead of SmithZz. To me that lineup is really good. Happy is a good IGL with a loose style and good fragging abilities. NBK a perfect middle man/utility player. shox is shox. kio is very good when he is on point, but if he is slacking I can see other pick it up for him. But like I said, would have liked to see fxy0 there but SmithZz when he was main awper in Titan/Old VG they were actually really good, top1 world even. We'll see but that Titan lineup to me, makes _NO_ sense, just don't see it working.

I wouldn't swap SmithZz with any awper besides GuardiaN. It's not because he's amazing with the awp but he's very clever with it. Most of his awp frags come from outsmarting his opponents. He also brings tactical wisdom to the team.

They are all teamplayers with not only frag abilities - whereas ScreaM is like the definition of a non-teamplayer. That new, currently-nameless squad seems fucktastic and achievementacular. I have my doubts about the longevity of the Titan project (they've had a massive squad turnover recently and a great team, aim-wise but I do see some potential ego clashes a la "but I am le tired", "no it is YOU who are ze dog penis, putain le merde", chairs being thrown at LANs, kennyS and KQLY fist-fighting over who starts the round with the only AWP, etc). I really don't understand why epsilon and especially ldlc disband after a very nice EMS performance. For what it's worth, they were both easily contenders for the first and second place. Titan's roster looks average at best right now, while nbk's crew could be a treat (not sure about smithzz though). Glad scream is finally out. All he cares about, are his one taps and he doesn't know when and how to spray - combined with his awful positioning and game sense he's just another overrated player. What a relief.

To be honest. I totally agree with you about fxy0 playing a HUGE role in Epsilon's matches but I also think that NBK, shox & SmithZz trio would be way better for this team. Every time I see shox I just feel bad for him because even though he tries hard, you could you see he's uncomfortable. I loved seeing shox co-awp with SmithZz and I think both NBK & shox will be more comfortable with SmithZz rather than with fxy0. But first, lets find out if that's even true. :p

To be honest, I just fail to see what SmithZz can contribute with, compared to fxy0. If you get Happy in, who is a tactical mastermind, then shox can give up the role of ingame leading again, and take up the role as madfragger. If you put the AWP pressure on shox again, you're just gonna fall into old habits. It's the exact reason they took in fxy0 in the first place. If you'd have to break it down, you can easily say that fxy0 is individually a better player than SmithZz. And I doubt SmithZz's pressence would make up for that for the rest of the team.

Look at NiP for example, they never argue, have a clear hierarchy and are humble enough to do their job(fifflaren). Would have liked to have seen apEX and shox on the same team and with either KennyS or KQLY, if these rumours are true. There is no doubt that the unnamed teams composition is stronger than the rumoured Titans. You have two support players - also known as weak links in that lineup with both Maniac and E6TenZ. Maniac is that bad and frags when he needs to, but he will need to step it up if this teams in gonna have some consistency. The other problem is KennyS and KQLY sharing a role. Both considered top10 awp players in the world, but there are so few maps you can utilize a double awp setup. They are rather good riflers also, specially KQLY, but it still takes away some of their main skillset. Its not wonder that it is ScreaM after his poor showing and his team at ESL One who are getting left out. Along with Uzziii and the remainder of the Epsilon team, GMX, sf and fxy0, since they are aren't consistent or playing firmly in the bottomhalf of the scoreboard. No doubt ScreaM and fxy0 are the ones being left out in this puzzle. They need to get together and form a team with Sf, GMX and then look into the rest of the french scene to find a new player (a stable IGL) for their fifth, since Uzzii simply isn't cutting it - and if the french / belgian scenes are deep enough they could contemplete replacing GMX also.

I agree with you. But Kennys is better with awp than KQLY and KQLY is better rifler than Kennys. So Kennys shall be main awp´er. So if KQLY agress with that they can be very dangerous. IMO KQLY is also in top5 with the awp, so they can make some maps, espcecially as CT, more double AWP setup viable, with their skills. Train and Dust2 ofcourse. But also inferno as ct, and even mirrage as ct and t. They got the skills to change some of the maps and how it is viewed upon with the awp setup.

I have KQLY just around the top5 aswell, but I don't like the double awp defense on certain maps, because they are so easy to smoke or flash out and it really weakens the retake ability. I actually think it is more viable as T - depending on who you play against. But yes, train, dust2 and cobble (if played) is viable maps for a double-up awp strat as we already see alot of.

Titan don't look that good to be honest, they've literally just recruited fraggers and there is going to be problems with AWPing as well. LDLC, however look like they can be maybe a top 2-3 seed in the world rankings. SmithZz can finally AWP, making his role useful again, Happy is one of the best IGL leaders we have at the moment and NBK, shox and kio are solid fraggers who can also AWP (shox).I'm guessing ScreaM is going to Epsilon.

In my opinion the best possible lu (like many others stated before) would be: kennyS apEX Happy NBK Shox (Even if it's not possible; dunno why tbh) I also don't know why everybody likes the double awp setup of the possible titan lu; KQLY and kennyS are the definition of fulltime awpers and if u r not raping the other team it's almost impossible to play this setup the whole time and considering the other names that are mentioned here there are way better solutions for a complete lu tbh!

Well this supposed new Titan is weaker than the other team LOL And do we even know whether Kenny and Apex are willing to play together? KQLY will have to awp way less with Kenny in and that's gonna have it's impact on his performance. Ex6 and Maniac are way weaker than the supposed 4th/5th players in the other team. NBK + Ex6TenZ + SmithZz, as well as Maniac + Happy + kennyS are the two most successful cores in french-speaking GO history. Completely ripping both cores apart is just not promising. For all we know, Happy could fail massively leading another set of players, and while Ex6TenZ's style of leading didn't work with kennyS before, now it definitely won't.

"No top AWP wtf". Let me prove that it's the right choice; AWP is expensive. It fucks your economy. You might have to eco two rounds more a match just because your mate sucks dick with the rifles. That's a big deal. You aren't as mobile so your terrorist play gets really sluggish. Your retakes will take longer and will be harder. Look at NiP, Dignitas, Hellraisers, fnatic etc whom none has a dedicated AWPer. They one or two that can use it, but only if it's necessary. Semi AWPers are the shit in Global Offensive. Surely, dedicated AWPers can work, really well in some cases, but a team that can manage without it will come much further than those who cannot.

If NBK really wanted to kick Ex6+Scream then I honestly respect him even more than before. Guess he's the only one that isn't afraid to speak the truth - Ex6 + Scream are doing nothing besides holding the team down and it's been evidently obvious for a lot of time now. The removal of shox along with the combination of those two only plummeting further down has been the reason for Titan's downgrade. Nobody really cares about Scream's hs % or how good Ex6's past calling used to be.

Nice! Any team with shox is awesome. +Kioshima, who can carry a team in some games and who is very consistent. +Happy, who is one of the best fragging IGL's there is.. +NBK, who is a good all arounder. Except he needs to find his old form, and maybe, just maybe this change will help him get motivated in the right way.. +Smithzz, well.. He still needs to impress me as an awper at least. At least he will be eager to do that, cos he wasnt really playing the awp in Titan. = Will be looking forward to seeing this team live ;)

sad truth :( PS : i was playing at amateur/semi-pro level in a french team near the end of cs, we were praccticing versus maverick, TBH and many other top team. We also beated some top team in french's lan. Some swiss friends were playing in swiss team and each dudes wanted to build a swiss strong team but.. now i work and everybody got his duty.. dead dream hurts..

The shox team would look quite interesting. apex and kennys together(didn't they like hate each other or sth), and they have kqly? Two top french awpers in one team. Sad that scream isn't with shox, scream would have really benefited a lot with being with shox in one team.

-smithzz +kennys why? smithz is already old+experienced his personal max skillcap has been reached , he wont get any better , and he's a "decent" awper. while on the other hand kennys is 18yo and is already a MONSTER top awper , who can carry the team on his own and he still has the potential to improve skill+mature wise so it can only be better with the time going... logical choice would be kennys if people are smart and think for the future

I don't see the new Titan lineup doing very well. Having KennyS and KQLY fighting over who gets to AWP won't be good. Also, having 2 very poor fraggers in Ex6 and Maniac won't turn out very well either. That Secondary lineup is fucking awesome though. I really see them doing quite well if Happy gives each of the players the freedom that they need.

I wanted some changes, so he wanted to kick Ex6 and ScreaM but as kennyS didn't agree, Scream and SmithZz were kicked, NBK got mad and just quit.

this has been the most stupid movement ever in the cs:go scene Mostly from the part of LDLC, which has proven to be the most promising team out there. I find hard to believe that apex and kennyS can play togheter. Anyway, this is really really shady, because from a strictly "ingame" point of view, is a loss for each one of them the supposed titan lineup with kennyS and apex is doomed and will fall apart, while keeping ex6tenZ who imo is the worst titan player by far. The shox/NBK roster seems a lot more consistent and built around Shox, but again at the prize of tearing Epsilon apart. So the french scene has changed from 3 stable teams with 1 world class team and 2 with potential but incosistent, to 2 teams with potential but also unstable ones, while Epsilon simply disappears
