Astralis replace cajunb with Kjaerbye

Effective immediately, Astralis and dignitas have traded players René "cajunb" Borg and Markus "Kjaerbye" Kjærbye.

The move comes in light of recent struggles from Astralis, who have been unable to pass the group stage at two consecutive big events, namely ESL Pro League Season 3 Finals and Dreamhack Masters Malmö.

René "⁠cajunb⁠" Borg has been part of the team since October 2014, when the current Astralis side donned the colors of dignitas shortly before moving to the North American organization TSM.

With cajunb in the lineup, the Danish side gathered multiple victories in 2015, such as FACEIT Stage 1 and 2 Finals, several silver medals, and semi-final finishes at numerous majors.


One of Denmark's biggest talents joins Astralis

Dignitas, on the other hand, have let go of one of their best-performing players as of late. Markus "⁠Kjaerbye⁠" Kjærbye helped them reach semi-finals at DreamHack Leipzig, second place at Game Show GEC, as well as first place at DreamHack EU Minor last weekend, which secured Dignitas a place in the ESL One Cologne Main Qualifier.

However, due to rules which state that players participating in the Minor cannot play for any other team at the Main Qualifier and the Major itself, Astralis will be searching for a stand-in for ESL One Cologne.

The roster change leaves the community with questions concerning cajunb's share in Astralis, who are partially a player-owned organization.

"It feels amazing joining Astralis. I’m very excited but even more confident that it is a good fit for both the team and me, and I feel ready for the challenge." the new addition said in a statement in the official announcement.

"Joining Astralis is a dream for every Danish cs player, as it’s not only the best team in Denmark, but a brand competing for big international titles, which perfectly suits my mindset and goals for the long term future.

The move leaves Astralis with the following roster:

They decide themselves how much money get players and how much money goes to developing the org. owners get salaries from mostly sponsors and players get money from sponsors + % of prize money. so for example if cajun throws he'llmost likely will get same money from astralis but less from his winnings in dig..

"To accommodate a wider range of teams, players are now allowed to participate if they played in the most recent Major, provided their team does not consist of three or more players who played together in that event (such teams would already be directly invited to the qualifier or Major)."

Silver confirmed. Xyp9x roles aren't about getting a lot of frags, but about enabling other star players to get a lot of frags, mostly dupreeh in his entrying. If dupreeh is getting a load of kills, it will be partly because of xyp9x doing his job well. And, not being an entry, has to have good clutch power, which Xyp9x undoubtedly has. One of the best clutchers out there.

it is not necessarily wrong what ure saying that xyp9x might be slightly more consistant and is doing his part as support. even tho he might be just or even more as inconsistant as cajunb when it comes to LAN playoffs in my opinion. cajunb can really come trough when it matters, maybe the stats dont show it and he might disappear from time to time, but who doesnt really in astralis? dupreeh can have a monster game map 1 and got 5 kills map 5. thats basically astralis. i still find that cajunb got the mental strenght to come trough when it matters for astralis and was vital for their success.

Imo it makes perfect sense. For most of their time together their two entry fraggers has been dupreeh and device. When they changed up the roles and device became a full time awper, and karrigan once again a rifler, they were missing a secondary rifle entry. Entry rifling is not really cajuns style, eventhough i agree he's a stable player. He didn't really have a set role in the team with their current approach. Kjaerby is an amazing rifler and have been carrying dignitas lately. His form the last couple of months is amazing. on the other hand cajuns playstyle will fit well with dignitas. Just my two cents.

You clearly can't grasp the basic concepts of cs:go. You're probably not even dmg am I right? A support player always carries the bomb and holds flanks at T side. He always is the last one alive and clutching as he doesn't get any action until the bomb is planted (that is his job). Also on CT side he's the anchor on bombsite on all maps and his job is to survive and delay the T push until the guys who are rotating arrive. If he can kill 1 man until dying, his job is done.

very interesting move. Cajun seemed to fall off a bit once he wasn't able to pick up the awp. But him going to DiG frees him up maybe to become an awper on a team that doesn't really have that. I think he could be a great awper given time and practice with his new team. The KJB addition is the interesting part. Young guy who will benefit from being able to play with the likes of karrigan who imo will only improve this young kids skills. Only time will tell how good a move this is but a shake up was needed for both teams to make them both better. Cajun can awp in DiG while KJB will be a great rifle and a new look with dupreeh if I'm not mistaken

Yeah that's why I think Cajun will be very successful given that he can pick the awp back up. He was imo way more consistent with it then Device was and ever since device decided he wanted to be a main awper instead of a hybrid I think Cajuns play has fallen off a bit. Now on a team where you have 3 other guys who have a pretty good rifle and with Msl calling Cajun can become a main awper and flourish with it. Going to be an exciting few weeks and and just in time for them to prepare for the major qualifiers this move should help dig get over that hump and qualify for cologne. But I think that Astralis will be better as well with the way dupreeh has been playing and hoping device gets over the choking problem he has (lol yeah right) xyp is one of the best solo b holders in the game (mostly mirage imo) and with karrigan calling KJB has the recipe for success in this lineup. He doesn't have to be the star like everyone wanted him to be on DIG and can sit back and play his game. Hopefully works out well for both teams and we will see the Danes hopefully face off in Cologne

An entry-fragger can't be IGL, look at rain. The entry-fragger is supposed to use all his ''power'' in aim fights, not wasting it while giving tactics. Even if in FaZe you can have fox, k1o or aizy who can be entry-fraggers but in Astralis i'm not seeing anyone being entry.

Yeah but dupreeh wasn't a good entry fragger. He is more like a player who sometimes make big plays, and by that, their team easily performs and wins vs any team. The entry fragger should be consistent no matter what happens. Dupreeh was not consistent. I wanted to see Dupreeh as igl Xyp9x as defender Cajunb as an awper Device as rifler/secondary awper And yes karrigan should've stepped down and replaced replaced by konfig as rifler.
