GODSENT & iGame.com win in Kiev

GODSENT and iGame.com advanced to the quarter-finals at the WESG Europe & CIS Regional Finals and qualified for the WESG Global Finals.

The knockout stage has started in Kiev as the third seed in Group A GODSENT took on Group B's second seed Astralis while .Norway who finished second in Group C went up against the third-placed team in Group D iGame.com.

Astralis had an imperious start against GODSENT, winning 16-5 on Dust2. The situation was the same on Mirage as the Danes led 13-2 at halftime but Finn "karrigan" Andersen & company evaporated, allowing a comeback which resulted in a 16-14 GODSENT victory.

Kjaerbye thinking back to his tweet

Despite a 9-3 start on the T-side of Train, which is considered the harder side to play on, GODSENT allowed Astralis to take the lead in the second half as the Danes made it 11-9 in their favor.

Having the 14-13 lead near the end of the last map didn't prevent Astralis from losing it as GODSENT got through to the quarter-finals and qualified for the WESG Global Finals.

It has become abundantly clear that this current Astralis constellation of players and coaching will not win any big tournament, let alone a major. The addition of zonic as coach has so far not changed anything to the better. The swap of cajunB and Kjaerbye has also shown to be a quite bad move skillwise, unless there is something personal between the players. Kjaerbye looks so inexperienced in his play, he takes unnecessary risks and does frankly not look ready for this task. Taking into consideration that Astralis is a business i would expect them to react and make the needed changes to regain their strength.

Honestly the way Kjaerbye is rifling reminds me of the way device is awping. Hits some flashy and nutty shots, but misses so many easy 100% kills. Such a shame to see them once again throwing away a game.

I agree with your first point. I partly agree with your second point. I believe Astralis has poor leadership, and they lost an important piece of the tactical puzzle, when they let cajunb go. I think Kjaerbye didn't look inexperienced, when he was on dignitas. One could start wondering, if it's just difficult to play on a team that depends more on aiming than tactical plays. They will probably change something, if there is any chance of doing so. But they really should be careful, they might just end up even worse, if they make the mistake of thinking that it's the fault of individual players rather than their bad team structure.

I don't know why but I'm starting to take it personally that Astralis is constantly having these upsets against them. It's like... They were suppoused to compete against fnatic when they were at their best. But never reached their own potential - even after they got rid of their reputation as a choke-team. Now they're just a really frustrating team to watch. You always expect them to do really well, but they just dissapoint again and again. Im no Astralis fanboy either. Not at all. it's just something frustrating about watching this danish team which is suppoused to be one of the greatest teams out there just failing over and over again. /endrant
