JonY BoY: "Played with no respect"
The emotional leader of Team Argentina, Jonathan 'JonY BoY' Muñoz, had a couple of minutes to talk to HLTV right after their astounding win over Sweden.
The South Americans managed a crazy upset today, beating the number two seed from the groups in the first quarter final match.
In that name, we talked to the jumping and shouting centerpiece of Argentina - Jonathan "JonY BoY" Muñoz:
This was a crazy match you just won – let’s just start with the build up to this match. I’ve heard you’ve done some studying for Sweden, can you tell me about that: what did you do, what did you learn, what did you prepare?
Yeah, it was an incredible match. We’ve been practicing for the past month and last night and this morning we spent 4 or 5 hours studying Sweden and fixing our mistakes as well.
Starting off with the first map on Overpass, that was your pick. You had a good lead, they came back on the second half and then you clutched out in the end, but you yourself had a beast performance – 39 kills on one map - what happened there, how did you do it?
I don’t feel the amount of frags I did is important, the team stepped up when they had to. In B and A we played with no respect, with no fear of them, and yeah it was incredible.
After that you were shouting and getting up all the time and it seemed like you were going to burn out by map two. You lost that map, but it was probably kinda expected as it was their pick. Can you tell me your thoughts on map two as well?
They were clearly better than us on that map. We had very close rounds that made the difference on the scoreline, there were many clutches that affected us, especially in the economy, but we just forget that map and we try to focus.
Then you go to Cache. It started pretty rough for you but you managed to bounce back and on the T side and get like 8 rounds, but your CT side was so poor at the beginning and you were getting nothing done. How did you manage to get the strength to come back, especially in the last rounds, like when you were on a force buy on 13-15 I think?
We lost the knife round that was kind of an advantage for them, cause we didn’t think we had a good T side as we did CT. The first rounds were kinda back and forth, one for them – one for us, and then they won a very good round and established their economy. That’s what made them go ahead in the score but then we change our playstyle as T, got some rounds and won the half 8-7.
As CT, we started bad, but on the round 14-12 we decided to force-buy and we lost it so we were pretty bad in the economy, we had about $2,000 for the last round. But we had some amazing rounds in the last three and that won us the game pretty much.

Team Argentina celebrating their historic win over Sweden
You’re probably tired now, but what is the preparation for tomorrow’s match, which is Denmark?
First of all we have to rest because we are very tired and read what’s going on on Facebook and Twitter because it’s gonna be crazy. But tomorrow morning just start thinking about Denmark, we know they are a good team and although we won 16-14 we know what they can bring to the table. We’re gonna prepare the maps like we did this morning with a lot of effort and study.
In the match: if we are losing, we are gonna try to play with "our balls", and if we are winning we wanna try to be smart – which is the hardest part.
One last question, what does it mean to you, where do you think this can take you and what opportunities do you think can come from this match?
I want people to see our region as a good one and to see there is a talent level in the country. We know that this is not the best players in the world, not saying anything bad, but it is the truth. But we also want to get invites and try to be more professional CS and play with the best teams – and learn from them. In our region there are not many invites or tournaments – it’s not dead but it’s nothing compared to this – this is huge for us.
We just want our region to be looked at something that is professional and that has good teams.
