Pro League EU finalists determined

With the last round of ESL Pro League Season 4 European division and the sixth place decider coming to a close, six teams have secured their place at the Finals taking place in São Paulo from October 26-30.

Over the last two months 14 teams fought in the European division of ESL Pro League Season 4 for six spots at the $750,000 Finals.

Both Swedish teams, fnatic and Ninjas in Pyjamas, made it to the top of the league with 19 wins and 7 losses, with the former taking first place due to the head-to-head encounter.

fnatic finished first in ESL Pro League Season 4 - Europe

MOUZ and FaZe followed closely, securing 18 out of 26 matches, and Envy only secured their spot earlier today with two wins over DignitasThe Danes and Virtus.pro finished 6th-7th and their head-to-head encounter ended up with each team grabbing a 16-7 win.

That meant the two teams had to play a best-of-three tiebreaker. Mathias "MSL" Lauridsen's team came out on top of the decider after two maps and grabbed the last spot at the Finals.

ESL Pro League Season 4 - Europe final standings are following:

1. Sweden fnatic - spot at ESL Pro League S4 Finals
2. Sweden Ninjas in Pyjamas - spot at ESL Pro League S4 Finals
3. Europe MOUZ - spot at ESL Pro League S4 Finals
4. Europe FaZe - spot at ESL Pro League S4 Finals
5. France Envy - spot at ESL Pro League S4 Finals
6. Denmark Dignitas - spot at ESL Pro League S4 Finals
7. Poland Virtus.pro - $18,000
8. World Natus Vincere - $15,500
9. France G2 - $13,000
10. Denmark Astralis - $10,500
11. Europe HellRaisers - $8,000
12. Denmark HEROIC - $5,500 (Relegation vs. 3rd placed in Premier)
13. Germany PENTA - $3,000 (Relegation vs. 2nd placed in Premier)
14. World FlipSid3 - $1,500 (relegated to Premier division)

The North American division will also be finalized later today. Cloud9, Immortals and SK have already secured their place at the Finals. The remaining three spots will be decided between NRG, OpTic, Liquid and Echo Fox, as Renegades decided to prioritize the Minor over the Pro League Finals.

Your comment is kinda autistic. Nobody here is talking about NA. You have 24 EU teams, and the best 6 gets qualified. Navi/VP/G2/Astralis didn't qualify. Faze/Mouz qualified. What NA has to do with it?

1. You're changing the subject to a sort of "EU>NA" argument 2. All the crappy NA teams like eunited and complexity did not qualify, where as top tier teams like cloud9 and SK did. 3. When it's a pointless online game, it doesn't matter. When it's an online league determining who goes to one of the biggest LAN tourneys of the year, it obviously matters

I can and do, and you wouldn't be able to pick a result from c9 facing liquid on lan since they haven't yet with pimp and autimatics in the rosters. The ranking at the time is irrelevant, you said ranking in general. You're simply trying to find a reason as to why c9 isnt top tier, which they obviously are considering ranking

you cannot judge a team and say they are a top team based on them winning bo1's and the odd bo3 against teams that are not the best or close to the best last time they fought a world class team on lan where it matters was vp and nip, they got crushed both times. having sk top 11 in the world, nip #1, luminosity top 2, and mousesports top 6 isnt even a funny joke, that ranking cannot be taken seriously whatsoever you are obviously just a kid who beats off to shroud thinking cloud9 will actually win

Gosugamers goes off organization wins, not players so lg will fall through the rankings as time goes on and sk will rise. They are 11th because a majority of their accomplishments are done under LG. I dont see how nip wouldnt be top 1, and considering mousesports insane online performance which covers 75% of the game then they better be top 6. A majority of NA league is tier 1-2 material with the 2-3 crappy teams just like EU with say heroic, penta and flipside. Shroud is overrated as he only shines mostly online, but c9 is proportionate skillwise. Bet you think online doesn't matter at all, and no im not a big NA fan

online doesnt matter at all yes, a player can just sit at home easily find ways to cheat or has no pressure online but on lan is where it matters and where the real money is. if it is based on organization then it is autimatically irrelavant as it bases their rankings off of teams that are not the ones that the org owns

Online is the original way the game was meant to be played, if you're shit online you shouldn't even be a pro. There's no point in hacking online if you're just going to bomb the lans for it anyways. Without the solid online performance you cant qualify for leagues or make the finals that you so submissively praise, therefore no good online perfomance=no make lans. They base it off the organization because it is the same, LG wont be #2 for long cause of their shit players and SK obviously won't be 11th. The end result is the same, its still accurate in time and its a diverse way of ranking

If you know how organizations work, you'll know that they get paid annual salaries in contracts, not direct tournament funds. The most the little boost in funds from making the lan does is having the org tolerate you so you don't get dropped. No, they have not reached top 10 as they literally started with t3 SKs leftovers and didnt exactly do amazing online, so its no surprise. I do believe player ranking is >org ranking, but saying its a joke is naive. I never said Shroud is shit on Lan, I simply said his online to lan performance does not match since he fully excels on the original way to play the game. No surprise of your immaturity, tends to happen in a third world country, lucky for you you're in a first world continent

But there is a logic behind that. If NA had the 4 slots they deserve instead of 6, EU would have 8 and both Navi and VP would have been able to qualify. Edit: They should've placed higher anyway, they can only blame themselves for fucking up

1. Its online. Vp and navi are known to be mediocre online and good on lan. Online is also irrelevant when talking about how good teams are.im sure you know that. 2. What People are trying to say is that the competition is way more tough in EU. Take the worst team i.e.: flipside is not great skillwise, But they have a solid structure to Fall back to Which makes them dangerous and a pretty decent team Overall. Now look at the worst team in na:eunited. They have literally nothing and are a free win for every team. In EU the teams only need a little Bit extra to be competitive and online some feel more comfortable, Which is that little extra. Having a good Day or Bad Day could alone decide a Match, Which is not possible in many cases in NA

So if EU had 24 spots, VP and NAVI were qualified, right? The fact that NA has 6 spots doesn't change the fact that VP and NAVI didn't qualify. Forget about NA division. Focus only in EU. You have 24 teams, the top 6 will be qualified for a LAN and that's it. VP didn't get qualified. Use the online excuse, but don't mention NA, cuz it makes no sense.

Yeah i agree it doesnt make Sense, just wanted to clarify. I said this before, i Dont dislike the teams that qualified Because they deserve it for their online play (you decide whether thats a good thing or not) and i think the Format is Ok. Its just that we know that when it counts, vp and navi are Better than everyone except maybe nip at the Moment Edit: of course those matches count, But i meant more like Championship scenario

Yea, every team is the best one until the next lan. Look at G2 for example, they were number #2 before ESL ONE COLOGNE, right after placing 2nd in ESL finals and 1st in ECS. Then got out in group stage, and got kinda in a slump. Right now VP and NAVI are kinda hot, but this will cool down things a bit.

A team that can't perform online can't be a top 1 team, because it can't qualify for most events, where they aren't invited. A real top team has to perform both on LAN and online. NA has nothing to do with this. VP, G2 and NaVi are inconsistent af and are no worthy contender for top 1 spot. Just accept it and stop with your useless excuses.

Actually its pretty even in Terms of invite/ online qualifier tournamemts. And im not excusing Nobody man, they didnt perform online and Didnt qualify, im fine with it. When talking about rankings tho its only lan that counts, and it will always be this way. i agree that Top teams should perform online as well, But as you See thats Not always the case Because the competition is pretty close. Ill and this: if i had to decide if My team is gonna be good on lan or online, i definitely chose on lan Because thats where Championships are won and money is Made. Online doesnt matter in that regard. And explain to me why faze, mouz and fnatic are good online and Bad on la, maybe you have some excuses for that Which i didnt know
2016-10-14 00:42

I agree that LAN is way more relevant, but online matches can still be very important. In the past the top teams NiP, fnatic and SK were able to perform online and on LAN in a very dominant fashion, which made them clearly the number 1 team, but right now, there don't seem to be such a team. And FaZe, mouz etc probably don't perform that well, because they pressure them self too much, I think its mostly the mindset, but that is no excuse. A champion needs to be calm and focused even under pressure on LAN.

Rankings are given with more emphasis on lan performances, if the qualifiers are online, how the fuck do you expect the lan teams to play good? According to your dogshit logic fnatic mouz and faze should in top 5?

Top 6 VP are horrible online and still managed dame points as 5th place, which is an achievement. But then you ignore the fact that faze and mouz are dogshit on lan. Atleast I spam sensible shit, unlike the pea brain stuff you do. Oh wait a good team lost to a shit team, yeah the rankings must be dogshit. All swedes are so salty for some unknown reason. Maybe it's because their teams are dogshit now and they know it as well.

The thing is, the online matches are often scheduled close after/before other big LAN events. Most of the teams that qualified are not going to many LANs so they could mainly concentrate on EPL. Anyway, seems like this will be a close tournament. SK will probably win, but the fight for 2nd place is open.

Hm, that's an interesting argument - I wonder if it has factual impact. Teams like VP and NaVi usually reach top 4 on LANs and get late from those LANs to home (on Monday). Then on Tuesday only 24 hours (or less) after coming home they are required to play EPL game online.

VP should be banned from these leagues. Giving no fucks, throwing matches like they're just random online matches and not matches to go to LAN. People rushing and leaving the team 4v5 10 rounds in a row (Pasha) or not holding basic spots for the pushes or not buying guns and keeping mp9s or Novas just to throw. They could be throwing cause they don't want to go to more LANs and nothing happens to them. They don't give a fuck when they are already qualified for WESG, E-League or the majors which have bigger prizes. Should be investigated and banned from these leagues and their LAN events if necessary

What would be the point in throwing? If you qualify you can decline the invitation, y'know... VP weren't doing anything remotely suspicious imo, they just seem to be a team that 'expirement' Online too much - that's hardly a crime. Maybe they're just getting sloppier.

it's good VP were eliminated because they had an unfair advantage, but no matter what they should deserve to play in events like this. This could've been a massive tournament with all the big teams but now its just going to be a stomp. name me a summer hype team that beat 3 top 5 teams 2-0 in the same event and then beat the best team in the world, in their prime, 2-0 in the grand final of a big tournament, when no one else could. you're comparing Cloud9 players to legends like shox and ScreaM.

To your credit I agree, that being good at LAN is more impressive than being good online, as it takes more coolness with big money at stake and filled arenas. I just don't like the whole discourse around online matches as being something that we can't measure anything by. Online matches are IMO more "neutral" than LAN, where the crowd have their favorites and can affect the moral of the teams. Just look at the recent "world cup" where Argentina got into the final cheered on by the crowd (and casters). Had this been online they would have never gotten there.

Ok thats a good point Because i felt the Same way. I always thought you could see tendencies and map development from teams online Which would be relevant on lan. Like i said, i do still think this way and online matches have their place. I respect that those teams could rise to the occasion. Its just when i see People Talk about rankings where i tend to disagree. Its good that only lan events count in those, i cant even.imagine how they would look like with online play. Cloud9 Top 1 probably

I don't think LANs should be the only thing that counts in the rankings. Online should imo be included, but teams should just receive much less points from winning online matches compared to LAN.

The Problem is where do you draw the line. Some teams are famous for not giving a shit online for example. Some teams are known to be more comfortable at home. On lan however all of them care and it Shows not only if youre a good enough Player, But if youre a strong enough character. At least in my opinion

tbh i think it's fine that rankings are made based on LAN. what rly gets to me is just when people make excuses when their team lost "because it's online". You can talk about motivation but we as spectators cannot possibly know if the team is motivated or not. So in the end no - it's because your team did not perform well. Period.

This type of format only shows how bad BO1 are. Navi, VP, G2 out of lan finals with 750k dollars on the line, while faze and mouz, two dogshit teams on lan qualified. I think this only shows how much better BO3 is in comparison to a BO1. Everyone can have bad maps, but i dont think numbers 2 and 3 in the world, vp and navi, can keep using the excuse that it is an online match. I believe if they were BO3 we would have VP and Navi on the lan finals.

But every game counts. Winning 16:14 single map and losing other one 16:1 gives you 3 points. That shouldn't be the case. If it has BO1 the way points are counted needs to change. It should be BO3 though.

Yes, every game counts, but when you have 26 maps to play you have plenty of room to make up for potential slip-ups.

There isn't any room because you can't bounce back and win series as losing one map is the end. Imagine if NaVi lost in ESL New York with VP after login cbble 3:16. VP plowed through them but NaVi had the grit to fight back and win the whole series by a strand of a hair. Top 3 teams excel in such moments and there it's not possible to show it at BO1 online.

i dont think you're understanding my point. my point is that when you have a season that spans 26 games you will have plenty of matches to make up for losses. when you play 26 games over the course of a season it will give a rather precise picture of who has played well and who hasn't. you could look at it as a BO26.

I would agree if it was a short tournament. But the teams in E-League play 26 games, so even if it's BO1 there are a lot of games to make up for possible slip-ups.

Not sure what the fuzz is about. Right now the depth(bottom of tier 1, tier 2 or whatever you wanna call them) teams are closer to the best than ever before. Any top20 team can beat anyone. Many teams going through the major qualifier actually has a chance to win the major itself. S Mouz made top4 in EL that was solely played on LAN, for all talk about it making all the difference to the outcome. The real reason here is actually that some teams don't bring the same intensity and preparation to online games. If they fail to qualify because of it that's their problem, has nothing to do with the format(26 fucking games, mind you, we're not talking any flukes here).

first ask how this mousesport do it playoffs in eleaque i spoiller you organize DSQ 2x teams SK and Heroic this onliners should never play Last Chance Qualifier but lucky is luck and we take Heroic spot based on lose maps rounds difreance!!! out of tournament after own games in group wiki.teamliquid.net/counterstrike/Turner.. jesus how i hate this onliners faggots they on paper end this tournament like all in group stage with quick and izi 2x loses

lol a VP fan hates onliners.. that just means you are biased. If VP would be good online and choke offline you wouldn't complain about them being onliners.

12. Heroic - $5,500 (Relegation vs. 3rd placed in Premier) 13. PENTA - $3,000 (Relegation vs. 2nd placed in I don't understand the meaning of this. Are they playing vs the 3rd and 2nd best team in Premier League, to stay in Pro-league?
