fox to play for SK at EL Major

SK Gaming have confirmed that Ricardo "fox" Pacheco will play for the team at the ECS Season 2 Finals and at the ELEAGUE Major as a replacement for Lincoln "fnx" Lau.

In a statement, SK revealed that Lincoln "⁠fnx⁠" Lau has been moved to a backup position following "different opinions on how to develop" the team's approach to the game.

Ricardo "⁠fox⁠" Pacheco is currently travelling to North America to compete at the ECS Season 2 Finals, which kick off on Friday. He has been without a team since August, when he was released by FaZe to make way for Aleksi "⁠allu⁠" Jalli.

fox will play for SK at the team's next two events

After the Christmas break, the Portuguese veteran will join up with the rest of the squad in Cologne as they will prepare for the ELEAGUE Major, where the team will try to defend the titles won in Columbus and Cologne.

"Lincoln was crucial in our success as he was one of the important pieces that led us to achieve the things we did in the last year," Gabriel "Fallen" Toledo said in a statement.

"Our team can only be successful when all players are working constantly for the same goal. Lately, it didn't feel like everybody had the same vision for our team going forward.

"A team lives of good and tough moments during which you need special motivation, hard work and full commitment to get back to where you want to be.

"Everyone, including Lincoln, tried extremely hard in the last months to fix that situation, but ultimately we felt a change was a necessary step for now to development as a team."

SK's recent run of poor form has seen them not win a title since July, when they lifted the ESL One Cologne trophy, becoming only the second team to win back-to-back Majors.

The Brazilian team will attend the ECS Finals and the ELEAGUE Major with the following roster:

I prefer Felps too, but he is too agressive, just like Fer, so i'm not sure if he would be able to change his style or if Fer would. There is a "problem" too. He is known for beeing too shy and quiet, even ingame, it may be a problem for SK. My shot is Boltz, but i'd like to se Felps too. Lucas1 is almost impossible, as slendersleeper said, he wouldn't play without hen1.

Don't understand sk decision. He sucks in the last 2 tournaments but it's no about that. Now the other topteams have a lot of advantage playing against sk cause they need teamplay and details and that requires a lot of months. Probably fnx need some time to make his head clear again everyone needs holidays and that stuff. Look at virtus pro they play less tournaments in the end of the year, they suck but they know it's about time and they will back on track the next year. Good luck to sk tho

Well SK has been eliminated and it went basically as I expected. Fox only went positive twice and they were by 2 kills both in easy wins for SK. When SK lost Fox's best +/- was -6 and his best rating was .71. He also only broke 70 ADR twice and failed to break 60 ADR 4 times. As far as I am concerned that is no impact. He played average when the core played well and he played shit when the core played alright. SK did manage to do pretty well, but they had a very easy group and won in spite of Fox, not because of him. If they are in the other group or Dig isn't fielding Valde then they get crushed. Fox is playing just as bad as he did in Faze and unless Fallen can magically find a role for him in 1 month SK is going to struggle to make it out of groups in the major.

he didnt play as bad as you said. Overall the team didnt go so well and he managed to make some important frags in some moments. all players had hard times, even fallen on cache with 0 kills in 7 rounds. let them play together more time to fix some mistakes and you will see

I did, Taco was the only one that was anywhere near as bad over the event. Fallen Cold and Fer carried until they actually faced an elite team in Astralis where they got shut down. Fox played shit the whole time and got carried to a decent score. Again he never got more than 17 kills and his best +/- was 2... The rest of them were very up and down sure, but at least they had ups. Even Taco had a great game against Astralis.

Fnatic is aight, but certainly not legends status worthy. VP and Astralis are the only teams that are definitively top 8. NaVi is borderline. SK with Fox, Fnatic, Gambit, and Flipsid3 are worthy of qualifier spots and would prolly get into the major, but they are not top 8. If I could pick the legends I'd prolly pick: VP, NIP, Dig, Astralis, Faze, C9, Optic, and NaVi.

I mean SK with Shoowtime got 16-0'd by Renegades, a team that likely won't even make it into the major. Shoowtime is about as good as Fox and is much better suited to the role he was playing than Fox will be, so the chances of them failing to get out of groups seem high to me. Obviously though it depends on the groups, so if they get an easy group then they might be able to sneak out. However I don't see how you could say that SK with Fox is a top 8 team in the world.

Gambit is good, but they aren't top 8. They won DH Winter, but only had to go through C9 to do it. I'd prolly put them in the 10-14 range with teams like G2, EnVy, and Immortals.

He is an ok player. The main reasons he was picked are probably that he speaks Portuguese and that he is not signed to a team. As a fit for SK he doesn't make much sense, since he has to awp to contribute but his awping is not on the level of Fallen. Putting Fox on rifle makes no sense and putting Fallen on rifle is a waste. So the roles will be strange.

Well, it is of course possible that fox has drastically improved his rifle since he left faze. I must admit I don't follow the PT "pro" scene at all and I sure hope fox has done something with his time. But based on his performance in old kinguin before they swapped him to the awp it was very bad. And that is the last top level rifle play from Fox.

Desejo toda sorte do mundo ao fox, porém a SK não buscou jogadores brasileiros porque os jogadores da IMT já jogaram o Minor e não poderiam jogar o Major por outra equipe. Ao mesmo tempo, os players que residem no Brasil precisariam de visa, e no intervalo de tempo para a ECS não seria possível... De qualquer forma, o fox é um bom jogador e, dentro das condições, é a melhor opção.
