After a disappointing showing at the ELEAGUE Major, mousesports have recalled Tomáš "oskar" Šťastný to the lineup, while Chris "chrisJ" de Jong will be moved to the substitute position.

The Czech sniper Tomáš "⁠oskar⁠" Šťastný joined MOUZ in August of 2016, but found himself on the bench just two months later after he was removed from the first team due to private matters. MOUZ replaced him with Christian "⁠loWel⁠" Garcia Antoran, who impressed at one of his first big international LANs ESL Pro League Season 4 finals.

However, after MOUZ faced a bad result—failure to get out of the groups of the ELEAGUE Major—they decided to shuffle the roster once more. This time it will be oskar returning to the main squad to replace their longest standing member Chris "⁠chrisJ⁠" de Jong and taking over the AWP role.

This is what mousesports CEO Cengiz Tüylü had to say about the change in the official announcement:

"It's what makes this failure even more disappointing. We had extensive holidays, we had a long bootcamp, where the guys worked hard and had very good results in practice but once the pressure was on in Atlanta we couldn't deliver the performance we had hoped for. We show some potential here and there but we can't manage to do the next step. With how fast paced the tournament circuit is, we decided it is necessary to change things on and off the field. Besides the change in the lineup, we will further professionalise the conditions and the 'team around the team'. With that being said, it is time for everyone on our lineup to step up and maybe review their work attitude going forward." - mousesports CEO Cengiz Tüylü

Tüylü also added that oskar proved that he was willing to work hard for his second chance, while the 25-year-old AWPer stated the following:

"I feel great. I fixed a lot of things in my private life and I'm finally ready to play CS on a top level again. I was waiting for another opportunity and I was constantly working on my skills." - Tomáš "oskar" Šťastný

chrisJ said that he was shocked by the decision, but that he can understand it:

"The decision came as quite a shock to me. I can understand it, tho. The core of the lineup has tried many different things for a long time and it just never seemed to work as much as we all wanted. I would like to wish the guys the best of luck for the upcoming Katowice qualifier and Dreamhack Las Vegas. Personally, I hope to prove myself again in the future. I am still very motivated to play and will certainly not give up on the game. Huge thanks to all our fans that supported us through all highs and lows." - Chris "chrisJ" de Jong

Lastly, the team captain Nikola "⁠NiKo⁠" Kovač added his reasoning for the change and emphasized his relationship with chrisJ:

"Chris is a long time friend and the best roommate I had on the circuit. We are all very close in the team and we believed that our chemistry would carry us but it could only take us that far. So obviously this is tough for all of us. The new team will be hungry for success. I want to apologise to all of our fans for the bad performance at the major. We are going to start over and get results in as quick as possible." - Nikola "NiKo" Kovač

The team will debut it's new roster in the IEM Katowice qualifier this Saturday, February 4th.

IT's the only reason I can think of to why they kicked chrisJ over spidi or dennis. Like wtf... Despite being and awper chrisJ can rifle better than those 2. This looks like and effort to keep at least 2 german players. It's sad that those are the ones dragging the team down, I'm pretty sure they will fail just as hard, if not harded in the next event.

+1. mouz's roster and the management both deserve to fail considering how dumb their team roster choices have been.. Literally they at one point benched NiKo like a year ago then they decided to cut NEX aka their third bet player and add oscar AKA ANOTHER AWPER when their awper is good. then they got progressed but lost him and got lowel then they decided to cut their compentent awper when he was playing the best in the team at the time and now added back oscar when they still have spiidi and denis in the lineup. Like honestly with all those $$ lost they really could have just got jkaem and sunny when they were free agents for ages and jkaem still is or the french pros. Like honestly they don't even have a major spot to defend so what is the point of not overhauling their useless roster.

Yes, look at his results, when he starts to rage etc. Oskar quit pro team not because issues in personal life, that was only in team announcement, you cant believe to it. On stream he hinted once, that it was problem with some mouz member. I asked him on stream if it was problem with chrisJ, then he just look at webcam without word.. what does it mean? Mouz just had big trainings, that he was not used to. HR was more about him, not that much about strats and on the Czech scene, there are no that much intensive trainings. So he is not mentally unstable, he just knew he needs more time, that it went too quickly.

See that's the thing. The rules for the domestic ESL championship say that at least three of the five players need to live in Germany, Austria or Switzerland for the team to be able to play. They don't need to be German, they just need to live here. So if mouz wants to "further professionalize" the team, is it really so difficult to kick the dead-weight, find some decent players and help them move to Germany? Not like it's a horrible place to live... Not to mention that the domestic tourney is insignificant garbage if you can get players to potentially really compete in big, international tournaments.

I still think that nex and tabseN would accept the offer to join mouz if they got any and everything would be fine for them. To be honest, I don't actively follow the shitty German domestic scene all that much. :D But, as far as I know, they weren't playing the last season simply because they didn't fill that quota and didn't want to bother. For the longest time, they kept a subsitute (nooky) to play in the domestic matches instead of NiKo. For the 2015 season, they picked random standins for those matches after nooky left for Planetkey (let's be honest here, even with a standin, they're still gonna crush the domestic opposition) But they decided to focus on the international competitions and didn't even bother to find substitutes for the 2016 season..and just didn't play.

Interesting... it's not a bad idea to leave that Germany scene and make a full international team then. You know, if they just replaced the two germans with decent riflers to get more firepower, the team could work. The best case scenario would be to get a decent IGL as well. You know, if the French shuffle happens as expected, they could get Happy, ScreaM, SIXER or RPK. Then you have a lot of talented free agents such as HS, jkaem or jOELZ (or fox, but they don't need another AWP). Also many players that are in a team that is on lower level than their individual skill. (Maikelele, huNter etc.)

Starting to think those two are connected to mouz on a deeper level than just players, got mad at chris calling them on their lack of performance after losing and cut him. Germany was once a powerhouse in CS (thinking 2001-02 mouz and mtw.atn), then had a resurgence with the tixo/kapio/silver era of alt.attax around 05/06 but ever since then its been mostly disappointment. cyx/gobb threw some life back into the scene around 07 but Germany fell off the map while Sweden,Denmark thrived and continued to grow. I know Germany has had a lot of sponsorship during the years so I just cant understand how they have fallen so far in CS. They are going the way of UK (4Kings/TAG) when it just becomes easier to recruit international talent rather than invest in homegrown talent. The problem with mousesports is that they are trying hard to keep at least 2 german players because it is a german org, but those 2 are the ones dragging the team down, pretty sad, they could have and amazing team
