North confirmed at ESL One Cologne

North are the latest team confirmed for ESL One Cologne, the event's organisers have announced.

The former dignitas lineup becomes the first Danish team confirmed for the prestigious event, with Astralis having declined their invitation due to a packed Summer schedule.

North were recently seen in action at the SL i-League StarSeries Season 3 event, where they were sent packing in the quarter-finals following a 1-2 defeat against HellRaisers.

North will attend ESL One Cologne

A total of $250,000 will be up for grabs at ESL One Cologne, which will culminate with the playoffs at LANXESS Arena from July 7-9. Eight of the 16 tournament spots are currently filled, with four invites still to be determined.

The final four spots will go to the top teams of qualifiers held in three regions. Europe and North America already have their qualifiers set, with a third regional qualifier due to be announced shortly.

Below you can find the current team list for ESL One Cologne:

so you are saying that the team that won or at least was in final in last 5 tournaments, and won last major, should be afraid to compete against a team that won more than a year ago, and havent won anything after changing lineup? nice joke

You sure its not the old mib lineup that Astralis fear? Heard Cogu is doing his comback and got a wildcard for Cologne, so Astralis dont dare to showw up ...

This will be better than the major (because NiP is here). Now we just wait for C9 Invite and it will be confirmed better than the major.

If that would fak up their form or abilities then none of top teams would go there. Astralis is different story cos they are tryharding a bit too much, playing mental games etc. But you dont even need 1 week break to play another tournament.

The reason they are going is obviously the money, not to stay in shape. Literally no pro had anything bad to say about having a months break prior to Atlanta, and said it was really great to have time to prepare, MSL being one of them.

Device has a hiatus hernia and his doctor recommends he should not travel excessively. Them trying to defend their title is not the only reason they are skipping out on this event... Also, Danish chokers? Says the Brazilian whose best team went out in groups in the last two LAN events.

If they were to drive there, it would take 9 hours... That being said, they would most probably take the airplane if they were to do it. His doctors recommended that he should not travel too much. Flying from Denmark to Cologne, then flying back to Krakow, and then flying back to Denmark would mean 3 airplane flights in a few weeks.
