Gambit to Major semis over fnatic in Krakow

The playoffs at the PGL Major Krakow 2017 kicked off in the Tauron Arena with the quarter-final best-of-three series between Gambit and fnatic. On Train, the T-sided Gambit won the pistol round with Rustem "⁠mou⁠" Telepov's ace. Gambit extended their lead to 3-0 before losing the first weapon round.

fnatic took the lead after stopping Gambit's buy round in the seventh round (4-3). fnatic's streak was over after six rounds as Gambit picked up their fourth round with a force buy (6-4). fnatic led 8-7 at halftime.

Zeus' team will be in the semi-finals

Over on the T-side, fnatic rushed the A-site in the pistol round and planted the bomb but Gambit's retake was a success. Althoughfnatic lost an early buy in the third round of the half, they won the following round with a force buy, trailing 9-10. Gambit acquired three match points and converted the last one into the map victory with mou's quad kill (16-14).

The second map in the series was Inferno where Danylo "⁠Zeus⁠" Teslenko & company started on the CT-side. Mihail "⁠Dosia⁠" Stolyarov's triple kill won his team the pistol round and two anti-eco wins made it 3-0 for Gambit. fnatic picked up the first weapon round and despite losing the following round, they bounced back swiftly, trailing 2-4. fnatic made a late push in the first half to lead 8-7, just like they did on Train.

fnatic's run has ended in quarter-finals

Dosia clutched a 1vs2 in the second half pistol round to tie the game (8-8) and the CIS squad made it 10-8 after winning the anti-ecos. Having lost the first weapon round, Gambit won a 3vs5 on the B-site in the following round and picked up their eleventh round (11-9). Abay "⁠HObbit⁠" Khassenov's 1vs2 made it 13-11 in favor of his team but Gambit lost to a force buy, giving fnatic their twelfth round.

Gambit earned three match points by making it 15-12 and went on to win the map 16-12 and series 2-0. Gambit advanced to the playoffs while fnatic made their exit in Krakow.
