olofmeister set to join FaZe - Report

fnatic star Olof "olofmeister" Kajbjer is on the verge of completing a move to FaZe, according to a report from Flickshot.fr.

The 25-year-old will step into the shoes of Fabien "⁠kioShiMa⁠" Fiey, who has been given his marching orders after less than 18 months on FaZe, having joined the team in April of 2016 to replace Mikail "⁠Maikelele⁠" Bill.

The move will bring to an end a three-year association between fnatic and Olof "⁠olofmeister⁠" Kajbjer. The 25-year-old helped the Swedish team to win several international tournaments, including two Majors in 2015, which saw him named the best player in the world for that year.

This will be the second roster change undergone by FaZe in the off-season, after Ladislav "⁠GuardiaN⁠" Kovács was recruited at the start of the month to replace Aleksi "⁠allu⁠" Jalli.

With these changes, FaZe will have the following roster:

olof is going to be put as a star or as a supportive player? I mean, they have an olofmeister with NiKo, you can't make Olof your main awp because you have GuardiaN. This is a great move because you're getting olofmeister fans and then is a shit move because your team is a Fnatic 2015 without KRIMZ...

Going back to old Fnatic and their Teamspeak sessions during tournaments it's very obvious Olofm does what he wants to do every single round. Pronax tried to control him but couldn't do it. Olofm likes to play that star role and only that role, that's just who he is. I'm guessing Karrigan has assured him that he can play that kind of role in Faze too because I can't see Olofm giving up his 100 % freedom in Fnatic to go and be in a support role and act as a shield for Guardian. I agree with you. This move seems like a really bad idea, in fact, it's a terrible move. Nothing against Olof, I would say the same for every single player that plays that star role. They desperately needed a pure support role, especially now when they have Guardian and need someone to be by his side. Olofm won't take that role unless you really force him into a new style, which also seems like a bad idea. He and Niko will go in different directions with Guardian in the middle. The major results proved that they need some stability and pure support players and this isn't it. Keeping Kio was probably the best idea, as he has been fantastic apart from his major performance. The other alternative would be a Krimz-like player but with more passion and better form.

Kio provided that service every other tournament, though, and you know it. He was usually mentioned as the second or third best player in all of their great results leading up to the major. He wasn't even supposed to be that good, he should only be the fourth best player. I don't know about you, but 3 bad games at the major and he's suddenly out? When they desperately needed a good supportive role, that seems a little harsh. Yes, a Xyp-like player would be a great choice. Like I said, Krimz is another one of those, but at the moment Krimz isn't playing good enough. Xyp is on the edge, I don't think he will be at the top level much longer. I would look for an even younger and hungrier player with the same mindset as those guys in regard to the supportive role.

Except that this team has far more skill and a lot more experience (in CSGO anyway) than Astana ever had. I think it'll work fine, Faze already worked well so with these two they've just bumped up their overall skill level a bit.

I wouldn't bet on them being great - the new meta to CSGO is less on aiming duels and more on team play. Fanatic/Virtus Pro/NiP have great individual players but they don't team up and trade out. The teams who work together and buy into the system win - now the systems need to be in constant change as others scout you and learn literally game to game - but you still need the whole team buy in not a lot of highly skilled singles.

Im sorry for kio aswell,but i think that this teams firepower can play big factor against t1 teams,but karrigan will feel the pressure the most,he will have to come up with plans,with strats,with roleplay and set up everyone and test it against all possible teams in practise and then in tournaments,so if karrigan fails this,then that proves hes bad igl,like this is so much fireower that only thing in that team can fail is igl.

I know how it will be,rain will take kios role,but he will be allowed to lurk more then kio was able to,and since rain is passive player it will fit him,especially him clutching,and olof will be that what rain was,the player that will play those medium good positions and help setup guardian for picks,rain for clutches.That means : Karrigan/olof - 1st/2nd in Rain - Baiter and clutcher guardian - no specific role,he will be seten up to find picks and help setup rain for clutch with karrigan olof Niko will have same role like rain,probably 4th into site and behind him rain,since they both r good at clutching. This will probably be fazes gameplay and roleplay,but it depends on which style they will go,for example if they will go heavy fast then everything above i said is irrelevant,so i hope u understand.

Not an official announcement, need to wait for more legit announcements or checks in via players on twitter. But if it's real, FAZE will be a crowd favor team. Hope guardiaN and olof gets in old forms and heat up the scene with a dominance. Astralis and SK would need to train better. But if they be in bad form like they were for last 1-1.5 year, Faze won't be in the top1. Pretty sure one of olof or guardian will be bottom fragger instead of karrigan. Still, changes are always good. I want some changes and more solid teams on NA side too for the competition.

FaZe's recent biggest problem was that they couldn't beat SK in a BO3 series, and these changes hardly improve their process of beating them. Allu and kio kept failing, but with these changes their chances of beating SK are just at the same level as before, maybe even lower. Last half of the year we'll see more SK-FaZe finals, no doubt about that, but with SK coming on top as always. No matter how skilled players karrigan has around him, he will never beat Fallen.

I see you are a biased fanboy, but Ironically, in the past months, GuardiaN lost bo3's to teams like C9 and fucking misfits. Meanwhile allu was playing against teams like SK, G2, and Astralis, eventually beating a team they previously struggled against and winning a tournament. Now all that process is lost. On top of that, allu and kio were both experienced and really good against teams like astralis and G2, always putting up numbers against them. Now with guardian and olof, this mediocre "star"-duo, FaZe might actually struggle against these other top5 teams. And chances of beating current SK are as low or lower than ever before, unless its SK that starts to struggle now, as they did last year.

Nah this lineup is not better than the last one, last one that reached top 2 for like 2 weeks had proper roles and the proper players for those roles, this lineup is a bunch of washed up players who were star players in 2015 that haven't played good in more than a year and a half. I feel like this team is basically if NiKo can carry or not and that's what it will always come down to, too many over rated players in one team doesn't equal success they will live and die by NiKo their only star player going against teams like SK and Astralis who have multiple top 20 players.

Be the second best team in the world, finally starting to play well as a team consistently. Have one bad tournament -> change 40% of the team. It's almost as if the team was led by someone who has absolutely no idea how CS works (and not RobbaN). This could of course work long term. Absolutely. But the more likely scenario is, they'll be forced to start building chemistry and teamwork all over from scratch, resulting in them becoming awful for an extended period of time. This'll result in them losing confidence, stop any sort of chemistry from being built, causing their results to fall further still, ultimately spelling doom for the team. We'll see. Historically, teams that are too quick to change their roster tend to self-destruct, but maybe FaZe is the exception in the almost 20 year long history of CS. Regardless of what happens, it ought to be entertaining at the very least.

They seem to know about as much of the game as the modern announcers, who think the 3-bomb is a "30 bomb". It's been a frequent thing since forever. Not among top teams, mind, but in the CS scene as a whole. FaZe is seriously one of the worst orgs. The Call of Duty owners consider the CSGO players expendable. They have a big bank so they just get the best aimers and throw out the guys who have one bad game or can be replaced.

Not necessarily, I would question the cogency of that inferred generalization. This lineup when considering the the phenomenally high peak in it's players potential and leadership, has all the elements that would produce a number 1 team. However we have yet to see these things come into fruition, so it is not conclusive that this lineup will succeed to this level. I for 1 believe that this team will progress to the number 1 position, however this is far from a guarantee. Also its impossible at this point for FaZe to be number 1 as this lineup, hasn't played a single game.
