cogu to step in for Immortals in ELEAGUE Premier

Gorilla Core member Raphael "cogu" Camargo will be Immortals' fifth player in the ELEAGUE Premier group stage, HLTV.org has learned.

The Brazilian veteran will replace Vito "⁠kNgV-⁠" Giuseppe, who has been forced to return to his homeland to apply for a P-1 visa to be able to enter the United States again.

Raphael "⁠cogu⁠" Camargo, one of the most famous Brazilian players in Counter-Strike history, has been competing in the United States since the start of the year. His team, Gorilla Core, recently won ESEA S25 Open after defeating Ryan "⁠freakazoid⁠" Abadir's BOYS ARE BACK 2-1 in the final.

On Twitter, the 32-year-old stated that it is "an honor" to replace kNgV-, who wished his compatriot "good luck".

cogu will reunite with steel for ELEAGUE Premier

On Immortals, cogu will reunite with Lucas "⁠steel⁠" Lopes and Rafael "⁠zakk⁠" Fernandes, both of whom were his teammates on ProGaming.TD, the first Brazilian team to compete abroad in CS:GO.

Immortals will take on MOUZ in the first round of the ELEAGUE Premier group stage, on Friday evening. DreamHack Open Montreal champions North and Swedish side fnatic round out the group.

This means that the Brazilian team will compete in the ELEAGUE Premier group stage with:

yeah, I think nobody said an important thing about it, if kng had make that threat against FNS in brazilians soil, thats a felony and he could be punished with up to 6 months of prison. Of course, considering the time of punishement the are options on the law that could prevent that, but at least he would need pay community service for a while and maybe some cash. Ps: I'm a lawyer in Brazil.

n0thing actually hacked in the craziest videos of him in 1.6. nokappa. :P He's admitted to it himself, so overrated. FalleN is a debate but still cogu was a force to reckoned with for sure. I would say that fr0d was a better overall player than n0thing was at that time, including aim. n0thing had sick aim and as a teenager was an up and coming talent, but fr0d was far better from game sense to overall contribution. Back when Complexity was relevant. Cogu though, was sick! That whole line up was ridiculous. I sure do miss some KIKOOOOOOO!!!!! GL Cogu, good to see your badassery playing at a higher level again, hope he does well.

We will have to disagree my friend :) n0thing was amazing in 1.6, not taking anything away from him. fr0d was more of a complete package imo. Regardless of our opinions, I do miss those days. There was something more exciting for me back then. Maybe it was because I was younger. Thats why I think its so cool that cogu is back!

I would say in cs1.6 markeloff was the best awper of all times (even in 1.5 , 1.3 etc) . In the americas cogu was far more consistent than frod for a bigger period of time. Frod's peak was in 2006. Overall i would say Markeloff Cogu Frod Walle Shaguar Ksharp Vilden Delpan Sunde Johnny R (maybe the first european awper)

With all due respect, that list doesn't fit the facts. ShaGuar : was not a dedicate awper. But he was very skillful. One of the best cs overall players in history for sure. Vilden : was very inconsistent. Good/ok player tho. fRoD : was very a aggressive and he changed the game. But hes peak was 2006 and then he went down. Johnny R : Not even in my top15. He was ok. Now my list: 1. Markeloff. Too agressive and skillfull with the awp. 2. Walle. Amazing player. 3. Ksharp. So consistent in those early competitive days. 4. XeQtR. the reason why im awping. my first love. NoA Hero. 5. Cogu. the reason why we have fallen and co. Brazils first cs hero, and one of americas best. I became fan of mibr becouse of him. 6. KennyS. deserve the spot in history. Hes now days idol. 7. fRoD. He def was a guy who dominate the cs scene for a year. The guy came from nowhere with complexity and impressed the whole world. Too much skill. 8. Delpan. I liked to watch this smart player. So good. 9. Fallen. He has the trophies and results. Hes clever and a good captain. 10. JW. People like cogu are legends because they USED to be good, not because they are good now. This is going to be like that fRoD bullshit 2.0 back when he tried to get back into competing and played for CompLexity, only to get kicked because he was so garbage. fRoD is ALSO legend, but just like cogu, he is only that and nothing more. Neither of the two even played GO at their peak, they were playing 1.6 which is a completely different game. GL anyway.

People are too quick to look to the past in order to try and tell the future. Cogu will most likely get carried the whole event, but their group is a bunch of inconsistent teams (Mousesports, North, and Fnatic) so we'll see what happens.
