Dust2 rework to hit next beta depot

Valve has revealed that a revamped version of Dust2 will be released in the next beta depot.

Dust2, without a doubt the most iconic map in Counter-Strike history, was replaced by Inferno on the Active Duty map pool in early February, with fans eagerly waiting for updates since then.

According to Valve, the Dust2 rework will bring "an updated, refined version" of the map, which will be available for testing in the upcoming beta depot.

It could take several months before the new Dust2 version finds its way back in the Active Duty group. The reworked version of Inferno, popularly called "Infernew", was released in October of 2016 but only returned to competitive play in February, following several updates.

nuke - my favorite map! At least some difference in map layout + nice graphics. I think it will be either -mirage or -cache nuke is too new to dismiss it yet and in cobble they've put too much effort in the past. Mirage is totally overplayed, but for a reason + it still looks good graphically, so I think it will be cache, which looks boring and needs a facelift.

in my opinion, cobble is the weakest pool of the pool currently and still requires serious re-work. The fact that T-rotations are so slow and borderline impossible remove a lot of interesting aspects of most maps, which is mid control. Without mid control, defaults get very boring and the same. maps like russka and tuscan with great mid control fights are much superior IMO to cobblestone

Don't worry about fps, whenever they switch to source 2 fps will be better in every map and also with vulkan api support I'm pretty sure your PC can handle it

The map is by no means better than it was, just a buckload of overtexturing, with a theme of sharp orange walls that blends very well with the orange cloth models of the T-side.. Good vision was clearly not in their mind. The only decent looking part of the map is long, and a portion of the A-site (-short). And then some irrelevant areas like T-spawn.. Bomb-site B is the same as before when it comes to how you'd play it, no possible new smokes, all rooftops are still blocked, so you get no new way to use your utility towards it. To be fair, B looks like a texture mess now. Regarding utility, good luck crossing mid versus any alright AWP'er.. XBox smoke anyone? Not so easy anymore. In all it seems like using your utility is slightly worse than before for much of it. slacky disapproves.

I still think the top ramp to B tunnel will come in once they take feedback on board - or at least it should. Taking away the T's seeing how many cross will make this map a billion times better too. It's close to being perfect.

STop complaining about FPS on new dust 2, ITS 2017 and it is very well optimized compared to garbage like CANALS. On my school pc ( i5 4460S, 8GB 1600 DDR3 and 730GT 4GB ) i get 100-150 average fps on 1366x768, lowest i've dropped to is 96. This is on my old PC. Haven't tested it on my new pc at home ( 7700, 1070 GTX 16 GB 2666MHZ ) This map runs very similar to new Inferno in terms of fps ( pretty solid )
