Bravado roster to move to the US

Bravado Gaming have announced that they will send their team to the United States to compete against the region's best.

The move is part of the "Project Destiny", an ambitious plan aimed at "raising awareness of the talent and skill" of South African players, who rarely get the chance to compete abroad.

Bravado's team will compete in the US for the next 12 months

Bravado's team will be living in the US for an initial six months, during which the goal is "to have a breakout event". After that period, the South African organisation plan to extend the team's stay by a further six months.

"We will be sending our Counter Strike: Global Offensive team to the United States of America on a mission to do what SK Gaming did while still under their previous organizations," a Bravado statement read.

"In South Africa, unfortunately, we are limited with the number of qualifiers we are exposed to, limited with the kind of practice we get.

"Through “Project Destiny” we want to take our country, continent, region and its players to the next level by opening eyes, bringing investments, exposing talents by doing what we at Bravado Gaming do best, telling a story to the world."

The South African team will be competing in the North American ESEA Main division, for which they qualified after winning their local ESEA Open league. But the plan is for Bravado to get into as many events as possible as the players will "take every challenge by the horns".

Bravado were last seen at an international event in January 2017, when they placed 13th-16th at the WESG Finals. The South African side also have a Major appearance under their belt as they competed at DreamHack Winter 2014, where they lost to fnatic and Cloud9.

The team's roster looks as follows:

South Africa Dimitri "Detrony" Hadjipaschali
South Africa Ruan "ELUSIVE" van Wyk
South Africa Aran "Sonic" Groesbeek
South Africa Rhys "Fadey" Armstrong
South Africa Johnny "JT" Theodosiou

South Africa Tiaan "T.c" Coertzen (coach)

Nah, never... The entire NA region itself barely ever makes it to a tier1 playing level and they always drop off. But being at a consistent top10 level is pretty great none the less... Though I doubt these guys would make an impact over the top20 mark

Still better than staying in South Africa. Going to NA will help them learn the meta's and compete against stronger competition. Will they be another SK? Probably not, but the move should be a good one for them.

Most regions barely make it to Tier 1. The teams in North America currently (not from NA, but in the region) are some of the best in the world. SK, C9 and Liquid are all decent teams. Immortals was also a solid team. Every scene has scores of lesser quality teams.

SK isn't a decent team, they are the best team, and consistently a top5 team basically since late 2015 when fnx and taco joined. But I wasn't talking about teams that are not originally from NA. But yeah C9 is a solid top10 and they will always be top10 with this lineup, so they are really good. Liquid fallen off a bit on the other hand, doubt they will do too much with their lineup. Of course there's plenty of talent in the NA region, I'm saying getting to a tier1 level is a significant challenge even with all that player pool.

I know you're not talking about teams that are not from NA, but the NA region is where these teams compete, which was more my point. There's some really good competition in the area. As for NA in general, I mean, we've always had teams that were competing. NA mentality and conditions are something I've talked about a few times, but I think that's too long of a conversation for here. I'm impressed with C9's roster, and I do somewhat agree with you about Liquid though I do think they've come a long way with what they have at their disposal.
2018-01-18 03:33

i think liquid's lineup is pretty solid. they've been getting much better in the past few months and they've never dipped outside of the top 15 in the past couple of years.

I don't remember who but some player of Bravado had a bravado tattoo. they were promoted as a really good unknown team back in DH14 because they had played together for like 11 years or something.

Let's be honest though. The same thing that happened under mugabe in zimbabwe is happening in south africa right now. The pendulum has swung back way past neutral in post-apartheid SA. Zuma is legit mugabe lite.

not enough qualifiers etc, they only went to like 1 international LAN in past 6-12 months despite dominating their scene. You might be right, but staying in SA just holds back Bravado

lol I agree with you 100% that is a joke. They might not even be Pro and end up Premier. They have potential tho...couple of real good players, at very least maybe get picked up by other teams and paves way for future SA players. SA gets less chance than Asia or AUS so right now it has no chance to shine.

if bravado gets results , other sponsors might be thinking of sponsoring new tournaments in south africa and maybe energy esports might consider moving their roster to another continent as well since they are actually better than the current bravado roster
