Luminosity to miss ESL One Belo Horizonte qualifier

Luminosity will not take part in the South American closed qualifier for ESL One Belo Horizonte, the players have announced.

On Twitter, Gustavo "⁠SHOOWTiME⁠" Gonçalves explained that Luminosity's management decided against sending the players back to Brazil to compete in the qualifier as the team are still vying for qualification for the Pro League and ECS Finals, and for the next StarSeries event.

The 21-year-old admitted that the team took the decision with sadness as the players "really wanted to be at the event", which will be one of the biggest in the history of Brazilian esports.

Luminosity will skip the ESL One Belo Horizonte qualifier

The news comes at a turbulent time for Luminosity, who are looking for a new fifth player as Marcelo "⁠chelo⁠" Cespedes is close to joining Não Tem Como.

ESL Brazil has not yet stated what will happen to Luminosity's spot in the closed qualifier, which will run from April 24 to May 9. Eight teams, four invited and four qualified, will be taking part in the tournament, with the winner securing a spot at the $200,000 event.
