North, Virtus.pro and Gambit join StarSeries S5 team list

StarLadder announced three more teams that will be attending StarSeries i-League S5, adding to the list squads that initially didn't make it through the qualifiers.

The Ukrainian-based tournament organizer revealed that FaZe, G2 and fnatic turned down invites to the $300,000 tournament due to a busy schedule, which led to them inviting teams that finished as runner-ups in their regional qualifiers.

NEO and co. will be participating in the tournament in Kiev

Therefore North and Virtus.pro, who finished behind GODSENT and AGO in the European qualifier, and Gambit, who fell to AVANGAR in the final of the CIS qualifier, will be joining the tournament after all.

With North, Virtus.pro and Gambit, the confirmed team count rose to 15. StarLadder revealed that the 16th and last team will be revealed tomorrow, on May 16.

The article did mention the reason. FaZe, G2 and fnatic turned down invites due to busy schedule. I assume Astralis would do the same. Summer is a busy time for CSGO. Those top tier teams tend to focus on big events especially ESL/DH events where they can score more victories counting toward Intel Grand Slam. It is a bit sad but expected.
