hooch to replace electronic in Team Russia for WESG qualifier

Dmitry "⁠hooch⁠" Bogdanov will be Team Russia's fifth player at the country's WESG qualifier instead of Denis "⁠electroNic⁠" Sharipov, HLTV.org has learned.

The Natus Vincere prodigy is unable to attend the event due to personal issues, which means that the Russian mix will be without its most in-form player, who has averaged a 1.21 rating on LAN in 2018.

This is not the first time that hooch has found himself standing in for the team. In March, he replaced Egor "⁠flamie⁠" Vasilyev at the main WESG event, helping the team to collect a $150,000 cheque as they placed top three in Haikou, China.

hooch will play for Team Russia once again

The WESG Russia Finals will take place on October 6 at the IgroMir Exhibition, in Moscow, with Team Russia and FORZE - the winner of the closed qualifier - set to duke it out for the spot at the main event.

This means that Team Russia, who will compete at the event under the name Russia.GGBET, will field the following line-up:

the prize pool is there but the prestige isnt so its not really worth it for them. plus no one gets invited so teams have to qualify through online regional qualifiers first.

well Astralis literally skipped EPICENTER which is also a good amount of money because of how tough it is to do so much traveling. WESG is held in China which is a very long flight from any of the other places where events are held. To be at the top, you have to keep grinding, but if you compete without taking breaks every now and then, you will burn out and won't be able to perform.

Epicenter is only 250k, no? There is tons of tournaments with 250k latelly, but 1.5m is much better. You can skik 6 epicenters for 1 wesg.

Epicenter is 300k of which the winning team takes 150k. WESG is 1.5 m of which the winning team takes home 800k. yes that's a lot of prize money, but they players themselves are already earn a ton of money. Not only are they salaried a premium 6 figure salary, they also earn a crap ton from all the tournaments they already win. It's better to win the bigger tournaments more than burn out from attending so many and maybe not win so much. if you were to put yourself in their shoes, you would know that it's not the money that drives them, it's the passion to win. If you wanted to see people playing for the money, look at some of the old NA teams back in the day, they were playing to be mediocre and shit because they knew they were being paid a good salary and didn't have that passion to truly compete at the top.

WESG is a competition that require all five members of a team to be of the same nationality. So because Navi for example is made up of ukranians and Russians they are ineligeble. So most players form mixes. Teams like Astralis with 5 players from the same nationality can play in this just as their regular team however they usually skip due to the low level of competition.
