kennyS' G2 future in doubt as contract talks stall - Report

Kenny "⁠kennyS⁠" Schrub's long-term future with G2 is currently in doubt as negotiations over a new deal have hit a standstill, VPEsports.com reports.

The French AWPer was the only G2 player who did not sign a new contract with the organisation until 2020 while at the FACEIT Major, where the team were eliminated in the New Legends Stage with a 2-3 record.

In recent months, G2 have tied down several players across multiple games to long-term deals, including League of Legends Mid Laner Luka "Perkz" Perkovic, Hearthstone star Thijs "Thijs" Molendijk and Smash Bros. Melee player Weston "Westballz" Dennis.

According to VPEsports.com, the new deals presented to the Counter-Strike team offer much more security in terms of benefits but at the expense of a lower salary.

It is understood that, while kennyS does not rule out signing a new deal with G2, the two parties are still far apart on negotiations. If talks eventually break down, the 23-year-old will be allowed to leave for free at the beginning of February, when his contract expires - making him available just before the IEM Katowice Major.

kennyS signed for G2 in February 2017 from EnVyUs along with Dan "⁠apEX⁠" Madesclaire and Nathan "⁠NBK-⁠" Schmitt, both of whom are currently benched. He helped the team to win DreamHack Open Tours, the ESL Pro League Season 5 Finals and DreamHack Masters Malmö that year and was named the seventh best player of the world in 2017.
