Ex6TenZ, SmithZz to be replaced in G2 - Report

The French side is looking to take in Lucas "⁠Lucky⁠" Chastang and Audric "⁠JACKZ⁠" Jug in place of of Kévin "⁠Ex6TenZ⁠" Droolans and Edouard "⁠SmithZz⁠" Dubourdeaux, according to vpesports.com.

The reported move would break up the new iteration of G2 formed by Richard "⁠shox⁠" Papillon back in June, where Ex6TenZ and SmithZz were brought in as free agents, with the former having been benched in LDLC in February and the latter stepping down from coaching G2.

Coming into the team would be the two 3DMAX players Lucky and JACKZ, who are significantly younger and less experienced, but who posses the firepower G2 could need at a time where the squad has continually failed to impress, going out in groups at ESL One New York and cs_summit 3 and sitting at the bottom of the table in the European part of ECS Season 6.

Ex6TenZ is reportedly being replaced in G2

Lucky, a 20-year-old hybrid player, could prove especially valuable to G2 as he has impressed recently, reaching the second-highest rating among players at the Europe Minor in July with 1.20 over six maps and holding a 1.18 rating in online matches during the past 3 months. JACKZ, who is slightly older at 26, was brought on the 3DMAX roster in March as a rifler after being a part of EnVyUs Academy until the organisation released their CS:GO rosters in June.

vpesports.com also reported that Kenny "⁠kennyS⁠" Schrub is close to signing an extension with the team, his future in the team originally being reported as uncertain because the two parties were 'far apart' in early October when the organisation prolonged its deals with the rest of the squad until 2020.

The vpesports.com report did not mention who will be the in-game leader after Ex6TenZ' departure, but it is safe to assume the calling duties will be taken over by shox, who has been G2's in-game leader before before and also held some mid-round calling roles in the current iteration of the team.

Should the reported roster move happen, G2 will have the following roster:

Scream is overall a better player than most when it comes to aim. Yes he can be over-agressive at times but still could out-aim over 99.99% of cs pros. The man's mm headshot accuracy is absolutely nuts.

When they were in G2, they had issues about in game communication. When they were winning a round, scream was making a little joke to release the pressure, but shox was telling him to stop this because (he thought) it was unfocusing the team. They had a discussion about this, Scream apologized, but shox was still angry about it. One day, shox asked scream to come, they had to discuss. He joined him in a room with all the G2/EnvyUs players. He announced that he was kicked from the team with Rpk (replaced by Kennys and Apex), in front of everyone, without telling him before. From this day, Scream didn't like Shox anymore

well i dunno, >Amanek is for sure better than devo >Lucky was showing very spectacular results recently. >But Jackz was good and consistent for a long time already (a full year at least). He was just recently aknowledged as he now has better teammates than in LDLC Academy times. >Devo is better than most of the available players in France, but I would put him in 4# here. Also a lot depends on playstyles/roles/chemistry especially in France.

It's just a theory, but I think they didn't plan to kick Ex6 as a team. Maybe Ex6 didn't want to play without Smithz and believed in the long term project. Because of his veto, they had to kick Ex6 as well. Also the turmoil in the team is probably the reason why KennyS was under performing so much lately.

It was my best team to at the time. ex6 lacks firepower but the other 4 would more than make for it. Problem is that Ex6 was hailed for his meta-changing strategies, but if you looked at G2 as it was now, his calling looked extremely outdated and flawed. It was as if he barely changed anything since 2015... So in that case I'd think it best to keep the calling on shox and bring in extra firepower so that shox can focus on calling and not have to focus on bringing star player potential, which we would see from Zywoo and kenny primarily. Who would you suggest in lieu of scream if we got rid of Ex6 in the start lineup? shox kennys zywoo kio +who?

apEX seems to have a crazy shit personality though and is known to rage. ScreaM doesn't play entry, so amanek would potentially be a better option should he want to leave LDLC that is now actually performing really well. We've seen bodyy entry before and it wasn't that bad + I believe he has a good work ethic, so that could work

I don't know, the more I see them play, the more I believe they just can discipline themselves and should probably embrace the full MM style firepower based side of things.. Afterall G2's best iteration came when it was basically shox and scream on the map doing whatever they want and the other supporting them.. And they have all been playing for more than a decade so if they are still doing the same mistakes hard to see them change this now.. At least they aren't forcebuying every round nowadays !

It's not like they have much choice though. Most proven players are/were in teams. Amanek most likely was given an offer but denied them. Scream is inconsistent AF and they seemingly don't want to play with him.. Kio is the only one that could have been a real option, but we don't know when this took place, maybe he was already standing in for C9..

I think it could have been a good option to change one player at a time. Now there will probably be many roles changes so not sure they perform for a while. Also didn't want to see shox back to IGL, when we were finally seeing superstar shoxie gaining in power tournament after tournament.. But hey, many called that ex6 would get kicked 6 monthes later and shox back to lead.. Guess where we are ? ps : I think ex6 and smithzzz kick might have been forced by ocelote too, but I'm not sold on kicking the IGL. I would have liked to see ex6 try to lead 4 competent fraggers ( kenny , shox, kio and ??? )

I think you are right. I have no doubt it was the irrational ocelote...But then again i dont think ex6stenz has the skill required to be a modern day igl. The main reason for astralis succes is glaives ability to make plays by himself, and thus making space for his team. So it might be for the better. But i stand by what i said, i think its a greedy move that might make too many changes too fast.

I have been campaigning for this since shox was benched and his project was rumored as the alternative on NBK's one.. Ocelote bears a big responsibilty on this one imo.. would not have happenedn, zywoo has join a team with apex and nbk who plays a lot of fpl too. when is the last time you saw shox or kenny in fpl ? he doesnt play with them. This choice is logical. He grinds the game so better play with people doing the same. For me the issue is picking Happy an ex igl who hasnt enough fire power. they need to be more professional, but it won't happend, they live in different city, need to bootcamp to really work together. look at astralis, they are going to the office everyday to train csgo. that's the way to success. pro football team have a discipline, training, etc. If a team wants to perform it has to work with better management. shox never was in "the entry pack", which isn't even the name for it, so your old days reference makes no sense Shox was lurk in early G2. ScreaM was 2nd entry. The calls were questionnable sometimes, but nothing says it was all Ex6 as he said shox called some rounds. All I know is that the previous G2 lineup failed harder because shox was not a good IGL. How can you fail so hard when you have NBK, kennyS, apEX, shox & bodyy on a lineup ? I'm sure Ex6 would have been great if he had more fraggers cause he was fragging more than ppl expected. Also I've seen some great setups and bait from Ex6, he still has it. IDK what's wrong with him.

Replacing Ex6 and Smithzz is not a surprise, but the new players are kinda suprising considering Scream, Kio and even Hadji are free agents. It's a pleasent surprise anyway. France rising players often lacked opportunities to prove themselves at the top. And even if those two won't necessary be successfull, I'm pleased to see Shoxie try it with new guys. Best of luck :)

It's now pretty obvious that Ocelote did a severe cut ins salaries for the team. Couldn't keep a 50/60k$ salary team so he divided by 2 the star players salary and got 2 young players with a very low salary. That's my guess.

Happy will be IGL in a few months LUL . It isn't possible to have a full French roster and have success. Other teams showed they need at least one part of other country to have success. Also any team who try hard to have a one country rooster will struggle like nip.

Yeah probably but that's still very questionnable. Smithzzz really had to go But kicking your IGL who has to compose with a roster who lacks firepower while keeping body who has about the same impact than your igl fragwise is a bit of a weird move, especially when you plan on giving back the role to your "star player" who will loose a great deal of firepower and is proven to be nott so good at it. Now that's beyond understanding. On the other hand you have two proven players who are free agents that could bring firepower and you decide to try one "new talent" wich plays pretty good on a t2/3 lvl and a guy who is 26, has never achieved anything and is average playing agains t2/3... Well i don't know who is in charges here but he should quit drinking ^^ Now i may be wrong but to me it looks even worse with that roster than the previous one

shox can decide if Ex6TenZ did a good job or he didn't, shox was an IGL himself. It's Ex6TenZ' fault that he agreed on playing with bodyy AND SmithZz, he should've known it would be the end for him, but he desperately wanted to come back to T1, now he's out forever and he can blame only himself. shox is a caller again and it's nice, although his analytical skills are really bad, at least he can't explain his decisions and why they failed, but sometimes it works, mb he thinks it will work again,

Igdaf about Ex6 and i'm not defending him. Just saying that body is as bad as him while not igl'ing. I don't think that Ex6 is the best IGL either but shox is worse that's certain add to that that he will also play worse because of it like he always does... Shox was great in 2016 after kicking Ex6 cause they already had a lot strats established and had two people doing midround calls with him so he could focus on his crosshair more (Smithzzz & Scream). Outside of this short period he's been absolutely trash at fragging while igl'ing (being a shitty igl at the same time) And those are things he said himself. Anyway no need to discuss this 3 hours, you'll see the benefits of this move soon enough :)

I can't get past the Ex6 removal while bodyy is still in. shox said he never wanted to be a captain again he doesn't have what it takes. He can be a good motivator being vocal but he thinks he is a bad leader overall because he overthinks and some other stuff along those lines.

Shox was able to lead some of the games because of smithzz too, what most people didnt know is that its not easy to become an igl especially from being a star player. It takes a lot of dedication while expecting yourself to frag is hard too. He was able to do it but cant do it consistently because you cant be focused on performing your best while igl-ing as well. This is a really bad move for g2 if they remove ex6 because then they will just be a team of fraggers without solid tactical knowledge of the game when the csgo scene is all about that now.
