Americas Minor NA closed qualifier set to start

The North American closed qualifier for the Americas Minor will begin later on Wednesday, with six spots at the event on offer.

Sixteen teams, eight invited and eight qualified, will square off over the next three days in a best-of-three, double-elimination bracket for the chance to secure a berth at the Minor, scheduled for January 22-26.

No. 8 in the world NRG headline the team list for the qualifier, which features three other top 30 teams in Ghost, Bravado and Luminosity, who will be playing their first official matches since re-signing Ricardo "⁠boltz⁠" Prass.

NRG are heavily favoured to go through

Many eyes will also be fixed on Old Guys Club, a mix team featuring four ex-Cloud9 players, who will be taking on eUnited in what will be Austin "⁠Cooper⁠" Abadir's debut for his new team.

The top six sides of the qualifier will progress to the Minor in Katowice, where they will be joined by Brazilian duo INTZ and Imperial, the leading sides of the South American closed qualifier.
