MIBR beat Liquid 2-0 to win ECS NA Week 4 tournament

MIBR have jumped to the top of the money standings in ECS North America after winning the week four tournament over Liquid.

The Brazilian team made an early statement in the series and led from the beginning on Mirage, racing to a 7-1 lead on the Terrorist side. Liquid then finally woke up, putting together a string of rounds, but the Brazilians regained control of proceedings after a scrappy period of play and closed out the half with a 10-5 lead.

The second half brought little improvement for Liquid, who lost the pistol round and saw their first gun round win immediately traded by MIBR, who proceeded to secure the map at 16-6.

FalleN was a joy to watch on the CT side of Vertigo

Vertigo followed the same pattern as previous games on this map, with most of the action taking place on the A site, where the CTs constantly tried to defuse the bomb through clouds of smoke grenades in an attempt to confuse the spamming Terrorists.

The first half was a back-and-forth affair as neither side could stamp their authority on proceedings, with MIBR taking a narrow 8-7 lead. Liquid tried to get back in the game after the break, but any round they won was immediately countered with a round by the stubborn Brazilians. Gabriel "⁠FalleN⁠" Toledo went huge in the half, first with a triple kill with a Desert Eagle, then with an AWP ace that included a 1v3 clutch, inspiring his team to secure a 16-11 victory.

Despite the loss, Liquid still depend on themselves to qualify for the ECS Finals as they had a $750 advantage over MIBR heading into this week. This means that, even if MIBR reach the final in week 4, the North Americans can still progress to the LAN stage if they come out on top of the tournament.

"NA" scene has been for some time a combination of the best north American and Brazilian teams, so it's not a surprise. The only na teams that are actually better than the br ones are nrg and liquid, and mibr/furia/lg/intz seem to be on a rise.
